I had a 240 years ago too and bought the 2010 370. Don't even hesitate. It is amazing and still feels the way I remember my old 240Z, just way faster and better controlled. My highest speed so far was 100 mph briefly.

I cross shopped the Z and the MX5. I love the way MX5's drive, but in the end, the Z won me over because of three things:

1. muscle
2. looks
3. interior shoulder room

To each their own. I wouldn't blame you if you chose to save some money and stick with the Mazda.

The car wants to be at about 80mph or you feel like you're standing still. 100 isn't scary. I took it up on the Jersey turnpike going to visit a friend ~6 months after I bought it. With a passenger in the car, we decided to see how fast it'd go. I got it up to 133 before I literally got frightened and let off the gas.

It didn't feel much faster than 80, but we finally came upon another car and blew by it like it was standing still. Seeing another vehicle on the road was enough to get me to back down pretty quickly.

Haven't tried anything like that since.

Couldnt agree more, when I first got the Z it honestly did not feel much faster then the car I sold to get it (08 3.5SE 6spd Altima sedan with every bolt on they made at the time for the Altima) But I have just come to learn that this car is made to go fast, and do it safely where my Altima was made to get the kids from soccer practice, lol.

while in Germany last year hit 148mph on a nice section of unrestricted autobahn, the z had plenty more to give (speedo was reading 2mph less than the two GPS's I was using to verify the speed)

147 in my 2006 350z. So far in my 370, maybe 80. I am still doing the whole break in thing right now.

I hit the rev limiter in 5th. Glanced down real quick and saw something around 140 on the speedo. What rpm does the rev limiter kick in at? I could figure out the exact speed based on gear ratios and tire diameter.

I did 155 once on my old TL1000R. That was pretty damn frightening.

110-115. Heading home on I-95 one day last fall and a Firebird TA wanted to play. We had some fun and I only caught a glance of the speedo so that's an estimate.

It's because all these speeds were done on a closed course or on roads with higher posted speed limits. None of them involved any displays of speed or street racing in any way shape or fashion.;)

100 mph nice open long road in the country ...she felt really nice,first time for me in my Z. I do NOT (play) around town.

225 KMH (= 139 MPH) on the hwy thru Banff to BC*. First time I ever opened her up!

There was a very disgruntled BMW owner trying to catch up at the time...

(*closed course, private hwy, proper safety gear and vehicles in attendance...)

How Fast Have You Guys Gotten Up To?
 

For those not afraid to push it to the limit, how fast have you got your Z's up to? I've been 150 mph in mine so far and I must say it skates up there pretty easy. It feels quicker than my SRT8 at times although I know its not faster on any scale in which I've topped 170 mph plus a few times and 150 mph plus so many times I can't remember. Z just glides at those upper speeds and feels one with the road, but I don't trust it just yet, I haven't had it long enough and don't know it well enough to go past 150 mph, but just wanna know whats the limit its been pushed to.

145-150 AAA Speedway entering turn 1 most times. I usually can't look down at that time, but in a video I have it was 146+. Sh1t gets real at 140 though, 140-150 you are not looking at speedometer anymore though(hopefully)

Funny because I feel like my friends 300 srt8 doesn't seem as fast, he has a tune hfc and exhaust.

How is this thread no locked from all the illegal speed reporting?

I got up to 140 at the back straight at VIR according to the speedometer, not sure how accurate it is at that speed. In a GT3 RS we were hitting ~160 there. On the public road I've probably gotten up to 75 in a 70 zone.
