I bought a 41k Nismo and put a 1k nav in it, that plays DVDs, so I don't see the problem here. If the 40th anniv edition is anything like the nismo, and it sounds like it is, it will come with a double DIN radio that is modular and easily replaced. problem solved.

:iagree: .........and if done right, the sound quality will exceed the factory system.

scruffydog 12-27-2009 03:08 PM

the only thing i don't like about the after market systems is that it can't sit where the center console glove box sits. I also like the fact that the climate control switch and display are more integrated in the factory model.

While i'm sure most people with aftermarket double dins decks have no problem tilting their heads more down than the factory display (for Nav, movies, or whatever pretty pictures)....i'm not sure if everyone here can say the same, but I like my display as close to the road I'm looking in front of me as possible. Less head movements, plus, as convenient the glove box is being where the factory display's located...i'm sure if someone could choose (whether if it's factory or aftermarket), they'd much rather have a display there instead of the glove box. Unfortunately, they don't make aftermarket decks with the LCD separated from the head unit itself. Otherwise, they could fit more buttons for the Navigation aspect instead trying to fit everything within the 7" double din dimension leaving most people to use the remote for aftermarket decks. If they have made such a sound system, I'd go with the aftermarket one without thinking twice.

But i have to agree that the aftermarket stereo is a much better bang for the buck compared to the factory NAV. At the same time, we all have to agree the factory NAV looks much better than any after market decks out there.

Sorry I went on and on about the Sound system of the car and deviated from the real topic of this thread, please don't flame me for expressing my opinion - i'm just sad Nissan won't let me order the car I want in US, they have it....just not in US

I have to say though, the 40th Anniversary Edition is a very nice looking car overall.

That's a good point about the location of an aftermarket unit with nav/DVD being lower in the console versus a factory nav ........ maybe a stock location stereo with a remote "heads up display" :p

Equinox 12-27-2009 04:29 PM

could always go with a single DIN nav system with a motorized flip up screen, it would sit at the top of your radio hole, and the screen would flip up an inch under where the stock nav woudl have been. Mind you the motorized screen isn't as sturdy, especially if it's touch screen and you just push the screen in every time, but hey, it's something lol. I agree with the fact that the stock nav looks great in the car, and that the Nismo and 40th should come with it, but I can't change how it comes. Maybe ripping out the center console and replacing it with the stock with nav center console? Not sure how viable that is.

I've checked....I even listed out all the parts need for this retro fit procedure. It will cost easily $6K to $10K for a Touring model, and even more for a base model for wiring harness. That being said, this doesn't even include the cost in respect to labor or the time I'm willing to put in the project.

So yea, not viable... =(

Peter............

Glad you were able to get a fully loaded (including Navigation) 40th Anniversary 370Z. I guess that is one of the many benefits of living in Germany.

Please post :pics: so we can see this model at its full . . . Special . . . 40th Anniversary potential. How much did you have to pay for the options that will not be available in cars shipped to the USA?

orpit 12-31-2009 10:23 AM

Hi Antbear,

Sorry, my american skills aren’t so good but I think I know what you mean.

The” 40th Anniversary” in Germany is equipped as follows:

370Z – Manual transmission
Color: Metal quarz or Metal black
Wheels: 19”-Rays in dark chrome
Red Leather interieur with stitching on the seats
Multimedia system (NAV + Entertainment)
BOSE-Sound system
Red caliper
Special floor mats

The price advantage compared to the standard 370Z is 1.290,00 EURO.

I posted pictures few weeks ago. Please see them on page 6 of this thread.

Greetings and a happy new year for all… from Germany.

Peter

It's all only one spec- exterior- 40th anniversary graphite grey, red interior. 40th anniversary package includes exclusive paint, exclusive red seats/door inserts, seatback embroidered with "40th" logo, 40th exterior badging, floor mats, car cover, premium smoke finish wheels, red brake caliper finish and plaque of authenticity. The sport package is required on the 40th, and they will be 6 speed only.

Do you have all of your 40th Anniv.'s reserved yet?

Wow - you're looking in the wrong places... what equipment were you looking at for that price?

I just picked up a 800x480 (High res) double Din Nav package with backup and reversing sonar (tells you how far away you are from objects) full DVD, DivX, 7" screen, etc for just over $600. Added a remote screen for another $150.

I'm looking at the Factory OEM Nav Retro-fit procedure, the parts does add up to $6000-$10K.

The Roadster is being released in Aust in 4 weeks I ordered one in 40th Anniversary quartz (yes that colour is an option on the roadster in OZ) I picked the colour based on the nissan Aust website swatch which I loved but all pics
i have seen show it looking dull purple I swear I will not take delivery, they can run me through the highest court in the land and I would disembowel myself with a butter knife before I get around in a pinkish purple convertable. someone please tell me it was just bad light and it's really gunmetal grey.......PLEASE!!!

sdb3641 01-31-2010 12:20 PM

Look on page 6 of this thread. ORPIT posted some live shots with his camera in the showroom.

So with the additional OEM Factory Navigation option and headlight squirters is an equivalent price in US of $52,800 for a Manual model in Europe....wow, with that price we have better options considering we're selling the non-Nav version for $39,000.

I didn't realize there's that big of a $14,000 difference of a mark up for importing, tax ,etc.

Anniversary Whatever

:QUOTE=370Zsteve;237711]Seems the only thing different with this car is the paint, some red stitching and a couple of worthless plaques mucking up the interior.[/QUOTE]

I love my un-riced, White Sport Touring because she is soooo clean looking . That was the reason I waved off the Nismo,, too much, Badges,, "Vadges, we don't need no stinking Vadges" for those that don't know,,, a quote from "Blazing Saddles" seems to be appropriate here..........

bluzman 02-09-2010 04:44 PM

Actual quote from the 1948 John Huston movie "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" starring Humphrey Bogart: "Badges? We ain't got no badges! We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinkin' badges!" (YouTube - We don't need no stinking badges!)

Misquotation originated from a 1967 episode of the TV show The Monkees, spoken by Micky Dolenz (http://www.rudebadmood.com/badges/mo...ov=monkees.mov).

It also appears in the Mel Brooks movie Blazing Saddles (YouTube - Blazing Saddles - We dont need no stinking badges..)

Parodied in the "Weird Al" Yankovic movie UHF, as "Badgers? Badgers? We don't need no steenking badgers!" (YouTube - Weird Al UHF)

I love the color! I am so excited.

So I have a a small deposit down with a dealer here in Houston and the guy assures me that I will get the first one that comes in.

I have this strange feeling something is going to fall through....but I'll try to think positive.

I really expected to have a delivery date by now though. They usually know 4 weeks in advance that the car is on its way. I thought for sure it would be here early March.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hope you get it. I'm guessing you're paying MSRP ? dunno...

sdb3641 02-11-2010 11:37 PM

I suppose. They are expecting to get one....maybe two.

I assume if thats the case then I am willing to pay MSRP. I understand there about 8 guys on the list behind me ready to buy if I back out. I am wondering what would happen if one of them decided to offer a couple grand over MSRP.

Some people have money to burn. I dont mind paying MSRP, but I'm talking myself into falling in love with a white touring with sport just in case.

MartinT 02-18-2010 07:47 AM

Hey,
I like the color of the 40th-Anniversary Edition.
But I couldn´t find any pictures of a black example.
I´am searching for weeks, but there are no pictures of a black 40th-Anniversary. :shakes head:
Can anybody post some pictures of a black modell?

Greetings
Martin

Chris`I 02-18-2010 08:02 AM

I asked NMGB about some picks of one in black - given its the Black Edition here in Europe - and failed. All their press shots are of Quartz ones. I pointed out to my local dealer that they should make this very clear to customers when ordering as it could be quite bad for them to get an order for a black one when the customer wanted a Quartz one but didnt know the difference as all the press shots are one colour!

EDIT: OK spoke to the NMGB product manager for the 370z and there are no pics of the black ones apparently. In Europe they are released first in black to tie in with the Black Edition name, but there werent any black ones before they went into production, hence no pics. All of the demonstrators for Europe (and the rest of the world) were Quartz, hence why all pics are of Quartz.

puckshaw 02-19-2010 05:24 PM

Well my local dealership just got a 40th anny in today. They said they had no idea it was even on the way. They asked if I wanted to trade my Z in on it :rofl2:

yea, most dealerships don't really follow up on anything. They only know how to sell what's in their lot. I saw it in person, wasn't impressed at all. I could see how upset the salesman's face was hoping that by me sitting inside a 40th anniversary edition would make me jump up and down and offer to buy right away. Instead, I wasn't all that impressed. Also, I saw the exterior color, and both my fiance and I DID see a little bit of purple in the car. Some people may call it beauty, but not for me I'm sorry.

I say just give me the Smoked rims, red caliper, red stitches and maybe even the red leather seats, but you can keep the 40th anniversary badges and car cover and whatever unneccesary overpriced parts they used as an excuse to markup the price.

Btw, I'm sure the Black Euro version looks something like this....MUCH Better...I got this from the photoshop thread
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2631/...edcac678_o.jpg

If this was offered here in US just like the euro version (offered with NAV), I wouldn't mind paying MSRP for this.
NOTE: Once again, this is not the ACTUAL Black Edition from Europe, it's Photoshoped, that's why you don't see the red leather seats. But I'm 90% sure it looks just like this - :icon18:

For gods sake it looks not so purple as on

I received mine today. I will be picking it up tomorrow. I saw it in person and it is drop dead gorgeous. i didnt see any purple hue. I was parked in the sun and it just sparkled. The paint is metallic unlike the other color that I saw on none 40th anniversary Zs. I requested they do an exchange from another dealer because the one I saw had a nasty ding in the panel below the driver side door close to the rear fender. I told them I would not accept it even though they wanted to give it to me for way below ($2,500) MSRP. The red interior is hot. No NAVi or USB port in the sound system but I can live with that. It is by far the best color of all the 2009/2010 370Zs here in the U.S.

I have to encourage people that are considering buying (or even people that are not considering buying) a 40th Anniversary Edition to see in person because the Quartz color is really really unique and you NEED to see in person. Yes, I did see a little bit of purple under a certain lighting, but the car color is a really really unique metallic and under different show room lighting, or outside sunlight, that Dark Grey isn't just any gunmetal grey we see from day to day. For example, on a EVO XI MR or on a Porsche 911. It's much more unique. Just because I don't want any purple on my cars, even a slight bit, I don't want to discourage anyone to check it out. The Red Interior IS HOTT!!! Not tacky like the ones you see in a Porsche Boxster or any other red Interior sports car I've seen. It's really really gorgeous.

I just went on the Nissanusa.com and was able to see the NAV as an option (In the Build your Nissan) for the 40th anniversary edition...WTH??

Now, why would Nissan do that when I had almost all of the dealerships in CA called and confirmed with their Sales Rep that they only build it with 1 Configuration?!?

Just an error, someone did not tell the website programmer to remove navigation from the option menu.

Yep, same thing happened when the car first came out. I think on the website it stated all models got the aluminum pedals but the official brochure (and the cars) showed the touring only got aluminum pedals (and now the Nismo).
