However, you should not be held to which repair shops the insurance company recommends. This is all dependent if some clause in your insurance policy states otherwise. Also, if the repairs exceed what you initially received from the insurance company, the insurance company will pay the difference to the repair shop.

Also, I commented several times that I believe that you shouldn't be liable for the $500 deductible based on your insurance policy. Did you mention to your agent about the waiver you are paying for? Maybe, because you didn't first report it within their time requirement it no longer applies.
