Hit and Run Questions. Looking for advice.

I handle [edit]filing[edit] claims for this and from my experience it will fall under collision coverage other party hit parked insured. You would most likely be found not at fault

I handle [edit]filing[edit] claims for this and from my experience it will fall under collision coverage other party hit parked insured. You would most likely be found not at fault 0% liability but if damages amount to over $750 you will have to report crash to DMV. you will most likely be responsible for your collision deductible as most UM cases need a confirmation of non-insurance to be applied. But there are work around ds and you may get lucky with the deductible. As far as rate increases, it depends on the payout and if repair even exceeds your deductible.

Ya i called my insurance they said deductible $500, they are sending someone out to estimate the damage. I heard its possible to after getting the estimate, take the full amount - deductible as cash/check. Is that true?

Did you ask the insurance agent why wouldn't the $500 UM collision deductible waiver you are paying for doesn't cancel out the $500 collision deductible?

The only reason why I might think you are paying for the $500 deductible is that you did not file a police report within a certain time period to consider it a hit and run and thus a "not at fault" accident. Now the accident is considered a chargeable loss and you are now subject to your $500 deductible. If this is the case, then it might affect your insurance rates.

I had to read that a few times to get that (- = minus) haha. Yes if you are just going for an inspection you usually just get issued a check with the deductible factored out of the total. If they are going to send you to a shop they will pay the shop to complete the work.
So if it's a payout you're looking for then they can cut you that check but keep in mind most estimates are superficial and they only look at the surface for a guesstimate, if there are any underlying damages and you're repairing yourself then you aren't going to be able to submit for a supplement to get any additional needed funds to repair. So keep that in mind as well.
