lowering springs

I just put some new rubber on my nismo and am in the market for springs now to even out the fender gap. I went with re-11 305/30 rear and 265/35 front.

It appears the swift spec r is what I am looking for. Which is a slight drop and same or improved performance over the stock springs.

Just thought I would ask those of you that have lowered your cars if thier are any other options othe than swift, eibach, h & r or tanbe and how you like them percormance wise on the track or auto x.

Did you get a camber kit? I cant imagine lowering my ride.. it already scrapes everything even when I angle it..

I have SPL front contol arms and the back is stock still. Im with you on it being low. Im not looking for the tire stuffed into the fender look. Just to even the gaps out. I actually was fine with the stock stance in the rear. I always thought the front could go with 1/2 inch lower stock. The RE-11 in my size are 26.3 compared to the stock tires 26.7 for the front and don't remember the stock rear hieght off the top of my head but want to say 26.3. So around half an inch difference.

I have the swift-R's, and I really like them. I also autocross, and track my Nismo, and noticed a little imporvement in time with them, I have to be careful of drive ways, and have only scaped on just a couple speed bumps.tH
As for tires, and such, I'm on 305/30 and 275/35's which feels so much better then the 305 and 265's. For my driving style the 305's were a little to pushy for the 265 wide tire. Oh yeah, and I'm running all stock arms etc with no issues.

I belive the ratios are;
Rear
285/35's is 26.9 (stock)
305/30 is 26.2
315/30 is 26.4
Front
245/40 is 26.7 (stock)
265/35 is 26.3
275/35 is 26.6

dont forget TEIN springs. same spring rate as factory just an inch lower. even though they are the same spring rate as stock they feel much better to me. the car felt so loose with the factory springs.

I forgot to mention the Swift-R's are a bit stiffer feeling then the stock Nismo springs. So if you are looking for more ride quality over performance, I would look at a something like fuct recommends in the Tein line up. ( 350Z only)Tein H-tech is for better ride quality, and it's give a little bit of a lower stance then stock, but not as much as the other springs out there, that are more agressive. Then the S-tech spings is more of a performance lowing spring, and is along the same lines as the Swifts, H&R, Eibach (which makes spring just for the Nismo), Megan, Tanabe, RS-R, ARK, etc.
This is my first car I haven't run Tein suspension on as of yet.

they only make one TEIN spring for the 370. the S-tech spring.

they also claim .75 drop in the back and .87 up front. i got more like an inch front and back.

NISSAN 370Z

heres my car on the left with a members car on the right. (thx Jenny!) she is no drop no spacer, im tein springs and 15mm spacers.

dont know about yall but i think the tein drop is spot on!

p.s. i think i might go with 20mm spacers up front later on when i change out my front rotors.

I appreciate the feedback. Out of looks and performance it would be performance for me. I just wanted a little drop but retain or improve the handling performance. I don't DD it but I do like the weekend drives and love the track and some auto x. I guess if I had to sum it up I'm looking for a good balance between street driving and track with just a bit of drop. I would say 1/2" in the back and no more than an inch up front.

I think I need to just quite being a puss and look at some coil overs. My Wife will love that

That looks pretty good FUCT. Thanks for the pic. Do you track or auto x? If so any observations good bad on performance.

Rangerz, sadly no auto x or tracking right now. the nismo is my only car and i cant afford to f' things up at the track.

buuut.... paired with the factory shocks ive had on for 50k miles it still feels very solid! extremely predictable! one issue i noticed with the factory springs was that over large bumps or transitions on the freeway at speed the rear end would feel really loose. almost dancing around when id hit bumps at full speed. several instances i had to "pucker up" on the freeway.

the TEIN springs really settled the car down. and at only $220 shipped the springs were a no brainer for me. (I had the same type of springs on my IS300)

all i will do next is replace the shocks (maybe some KONI's) and keep these springs on.

dont skimp. i bought some $900 D2 coilovers on my last car...... worst money ever spent.

KW3's or say TEIN top of the line coils should do you fine. id like some HKS ones but its not in the budget right now.

You are so right, my bad. I could have sworn that when I was looking for my spring they had H-techs, but now that I think about it, and look at the Tein usa site, I must have been looking at the 350Z H-techs.

The Tein coilovers are awesome. I had the Super Drift coils on my S14 with the EDFC (electronic damping force controller) which allows to control the damping from your driver seat, it was awesome. Some racing classes don't allow for it, so I would put my setting in that I wanted, and then just disconnected it. It's nice to be able to dial in or out understeer, and oversteer on the fly.
Now Tein as the EDFC active pro, which adjusts things on the fly for you with four wheel independent adjustments, front and rear separate, and right and left simultaneous adjustment. Pretty cool stuff if your into that sort of thing.

You might also look at the differences between and progessive spring rate and non, for your spring setup.
