Nismo spark plugs at 60k

What kind of plugs does the nismo use? I was looking at a service schedule and nismo spark plug change is recommended at 60 but all others are at 105k.

Default Nismo spark plugs at 60k

What kind of plugs does the nismo use? I was looking at a service schedule and nismo spark plug change is recommended at 60 but all others are at 105k.

What's up with that , anybody else notice this?

Thats strange, I'm looking through my field service manual right now and it does show to replace spark plugs at 105k miles, but doesn't say anything about the Nismo has to been done sooner at 60k. Also, just says to replace with iridium-tipped plugs and gives the specs for the gaps.

I would really recommend replacement of plugs sooner then 105k. I would do them at about 60-70k Nismo or not. Im a Infiniti tech and have done many plug changes. All the ones I did at 105k looked way over due. Of course it also depends on driving habits, fuel type, and motor condition etc.

Ah, just as I suspected...the Denso plugs (FXE24HR11) are too cold that come stock according to NGK. Look @ teh black carbon on your plug tips to verify! NGK recommends a 7 heat range. I use NGK LZKAR7A (6799) nickels. You must change the nickels out every 30k miles or sooner, which is fine because you don't want to risk the Iridiums gaulding into your AL head at 90k+ miles.

I was looking through my service booklet and noticed the 60K spark plug change as well. I wonder why they use different spark plugs for the Nismo? There's not much of a difference between the Nismo and regular 370Z.



Or IS there?

Probably a colder plug. The rule-of-thumb I heard growing up is one heat range lower for every 50 added HP. Not sure how accurate that is nowadays.

i have 2016 nismo and cannot for the life of me find what the gap is on it - could someone help me out with that spec... Thanks.

Also, anyone have experience with adjusting the gap to anything other than the OE spec? If so what did you change it to and what was the result?

Everything on the car is OE so I am guessing OE spec gap is sufficient but love to hear about it if not.

Standard Plug: Denso FXE24HR11

Gap (Nominal): Standard: 1.1 (0.043) Unit: mm (in)

Limit: 1.3 (0.051)

I did not go with the Denso. I got the NGK Ruthenium HX LKAR8BHX (91784). I will post this question in a thread but while your eyes are on this.... Pro's/Con's - opinions?

I tried NGK and DENSO. I saw ALOT less P0300 during cold start up with the DENSO's

As good as NGK are, and past experience on other vehicles, I have heard/read many times, that the Denso are the better option for our Vehicle.

Unless a SP brand is known for failures etc., you probably wont notice a difference on a DD.

As for causing codes, I am not aware on any issues on a N/A DD.

My Murano has Denso's and that vehicle doesn't miss a beat. (replaced them at 60K miles and still looked like they can go another 60)

I've heard that many times about the longevity of Denso plugs.

There is a big difference on the ECU fuel/air and VVLE settings on the Nismo. So, as you would except this puts much more wear on the spark plugs.

I would recommend non-nismo 370's that are tuned to change the plugs @ 60K too.

I have uprev on my Nismo and I'm gonna pull the plugs out at ~50k.
