Default 2013 Nismo major fail!!!!

This morning I notice an oil leak under my car. I'm thinking the dealer must have not tighten something under there when I had my first service, and so I took it back. And what a major fail to the mechanic's eyes. The seal on the rear main shaft has failed and its leaking oil. They say that they have never seen anything like this before. 24hr worth of labor is what is going to take to get it right.

Has this happened to any of you here?

Rear main seals don't go out this quickly. Verify by checking if the leak is coming from above the oil pan, between the engine and transmission. And yes, labor would be expensive.

24 hours labor?!?! Remove the tranny, clutch and flywheel and there is your rear main seal.... I would say 8 hours labor at the most.

I've never seen a rear main seal fail that fast... but who knows, maybe it wasn't installed correctly from the factory and you are now just starting to see the oil leak? Anyways, warranty will cover it... so no worries.

This. The technician could be lying or just inexperienced. I've only seen rear main seals go out on abused aircraft and munitions towing vehicles; not fairly new vehicles so this is very out of the ordinary.

24 hours labour is laughable. Maybe because they're billing Nissan for the labour, is why they say it's so high(?). Yes, it's lots of work. But 24 hours? Wuff!

Drifting? Vehecle only has just over 2100 miles, still in a break-in period. And this isn't the first issue I had with this car. The first one was when I notice that the front right caliper had a paint chip. I check on the other side and it's on the same spot but they had touched it up. by the way, this is just over a week I had the car. Return to the dealer and they replaced it. Now this issue? Burn out and drifting are not even close of me of doing. This is my first sport car my friend.

lol kinda funny how people would assume such thing. I ask the mechanic of what cost this to happen? He says, it's factory installs. There is such thing called "human error".

Sucks for this to happen with your first sports car. Even though its all covered I'd be paranoid...what next?! Hang in there!

Wow.

That's a hell of a failure -- but covered under warranty so no worries.

Just make sure when you get it back find a lift ,a can of brake cleaner ,a rag and clean off all the extra oil that stuff will collect all kinds of crap.
