Default Oil Test back from the Lab

I need to know if anyone knows what can cause an oil test to come back with high copper. The amount was 46ppm. The car only had 5k miles on it and the oil that was tested came from the second oil change at 4100 miles. In other words the oil only had about 900 miles on it.

The oil was suppose to have been the 5w30 ester. It was not. The dealership put in 5w30 Synthetic. The test also showed it had a viscosity of only 20.

I assume you mean the SUS Viscosity? What was the flashpoint? Put up the results as an attachment.

The copper is common in new engines breaking in.

Sorry it has taken so long to post this. I hope it works. I have never attached something here.

Was your oil change done at the dealer? Some brands like Honda call for 5w20 but this isn't something a Nissan dealer should have in his inventory. Not saying that you received 5w20 but it seems odd that the oil would break down viscosity that quickly unless taken to extreme temperatures.

It was done at a Nissan dealer. I paid for the ester oil. The dealer did not use an OEM filter or replace the crush washer either. I have filled a complaint with North America Nissan. The dealership in question has numerous complaints. North America Nissan is taking care of the situation very professionally.

The best part is the dealer actually lied to North America Nissan about what happened. I guess they did not think I would hold onto the paperwork.

This is why I do not want to go to the dealer to get my oil changes. You just cannot trust them. I have 5 free changes and I don't think I will ever use it.

For my old RSX-S, I went to get an oil change at the dealer and they lost my cap for the washer bottle. I have no idea how they lost it but it was missing and a ton of dirt/dust and other elements ended up in the washer bottle that clogged my nozzles.

From what I understand, you will see a lot of wear particles in oil until about 15-20K miles.

There is nothing better than doing it yourself and knowing you did it right. That's what I love about modding. Even though this is naintence and not modding. But about the same principle.
