I love the Nismo front end! Just outstanding. The Nismo wheels are terrific too. Not such a fan of the spoiler and rear bumper. I haven't driven a Nismo but the suspension sounds like it rides like my 99 Camaro SS with the SLP Autocross Suspension-choppy and stiff-I've been there and done that. But the real problem for me was that the extra money for the Nismo was a deal breaker.
I'm wondering if the Nismo's power advantage is at the very top of the power band so it doesn't show up unless you take it to redline in every gear. |
No regrets in buying the Nismo. In fact I wouldn't have even bought a 370z if they didn't offer the Nismo package. I don't care if it was more expensive than a base/sport.. my $ and I'll do what I please! I always wondered why so many people question us for buying this model, yet nobody seems to care when other members buy 6-7k bbk just for looks, or can still live at home yet they are out buying 4k Volk wheels... but hey, I just carry on and mind my own business.

I myself am looking to buy a nismo z. Its either buying the nismo or a DIFFERENT car. I pesonally dont like the fangs on the base/sport models. The nismos front bumper, wheels, wing etc etc is perfect. Its looks sexy to me. I dont think i would do anything bodykit wise to the car when i get my nismo, its THAT nice to me. Same goes for wheels. Alot of people question why im getting a nismo over a base/sport though like you mentioned above :P

PS--I agree that the Nismo wheels are some of the best OEM offerings i've ever seen (on any car), but I said I'd never change them out and well...:happydance: |

What originally drew me to the Nismo was the way it looked. I expected the impression of pure sex to translate to the driving experience, but it didn't really. From the driver's seat, it came across as more crude and brutal in its operation. Difficult to drive for the first time, but left me wanting to work at it and learn to master this machine.
I don't think about normal Coupes w/ 18 inch wheels or Roadsters w/ leather seats when 370z's enter my head. I think about the one I want:370z NISMO. |
I originally had a PW 370 touring sports loaded ordered, but it was cancelled last March when Japan had the terrible disasters. Well, my dealer couldn't find a similar Z anywhere in the US, so I had to settle for my MB Nismo and seriously besides the color I have absolutely NO regrets. My Nis gets more looks and it's nice driving something that you don't see everywhere.

Well I don't own any of them, but i'm about a week away from purchasing a Nismo. That being said, the difference for me is simply the fact that its different. It stands out. I have had my eye on the Nismo for nearly 3 years and am just now ready to pull the trigger, but in that time frame...i have seen ONE..yes ONE Nismo in person on the street. Do you know how many base/tourings i've seen in that time? Hundreds.
I love the new Mustang GT. Amazing car, I would NEVER think of owning one though because you can't go into a Walmart parking lot without seeing one exactly like yours. Its just me, but it drives me crazy. Granted, there are countless things we can do to our cars to make them our own, but the Nismo indeed....is different. I could care less about the exhaust, that will be replaced. I could care less about the suspension, that will be replaced too. I don't like spending alot of money on appearance mods so why not buy a vehicle that all of that has been done already? One thing i do know though...i would never look at a base/touring and snub my nose. Every person has their own thing, and the Nismo just does it for me. Doesn't make it better...just makes it me. Just thought i'd throw out an opinion of why someone with no experience in any 370z would only buy the Nismo. |
I bought mine because I am done with my modding phase. I hope to be one of the few Nismo owners who keep their Nismo stock, lol.

I bought my Nismo because it was the best deal I thought I was going to get anytime soon.
I searched for over 3yrs for a 370Z. Emailed dealers in a 300 mile radius, got firm prices in writing, drove 150+ miles to test drive/inspect and make offers on others, played the year-end/early spring/leftover models/etc. cards for leverage. All but one were non-Nismo's. In a perfect world, I'd want the looks of the Nismo (yes, the looks) and the creature comforts of the Touring, but that's not a car Nissan makes. Overall, performance between the Nismo and non-Nismo are mildly negligable. I eventually found a private seller with a 2011 Nismo with 1,700 miles on it, floor mats, lighted kicks, trunk mat, locking lugs, and the cargo cover from the Touring. He wanted $33k, I was all in. Got it last September and don't reget anything about it. Gotta love Ebay. |

Forgive me if I hurt yours feelings touring and base owners.. |

I'll gladly take that $7,000 I saved and put it back into the vehicle where it counts. Not going to lose sleep over some Nismo serial number, because the only number I care about is coming from the motor

I have owned both the 2011 sport and the 2011 Nismo. Stock for stock the Nismo out handles the sport by miles. The suspension may be tight, but the faster you drive it better it handles. Bumps and turns that would destroy the sport suspension the Nismo handles with ease.
You can modify the sport or base with aftermarket, but none of it is tuned properly to work with each other so unless you have a team of engineers to set it all up properly then you are just kidding yourself. Where the Nismo out shines the sport is in the exhaust at high RPMs. Drop those gears on the freeway and the car will become a point and shot car. The suspension makes changing lanes effortless and easy at 70 or 130 transitions are laser sharp. Get the gears right on take off and I swear you can cut a 4 second 0-60 with ease. Owning both I can feel the difference in the cars. I would rather have the Nismo, because at the end of the day it will be better performance and hold a much higher resale. |

Your not going to get a 4 second flat 0 to 60 in a stock Nismo. Unless you go FI, really not going to happen. Mine had Berk HFC, Nismo cold air intake and Uprev tune even then I don't think it would do it. My V might with a good launch.

ive only read great things about the Nismo from the media
Here is Autoblogs review, saying it "simply rocks" Here is leo parente giving it a test drive |
Lets not revive this crap bc someone bumped a 1 yr old thread for no reason. Nothing constructive comes out of this. We are all z owners and don't need to waste time to defend our purchases, nismo or not.
Lets spend more time on learning and contributing to this forum instead. |
Actually when I was looking for my Z I saw an 350 Nismo when I was leaving the gym and stopped and looked at it. Black very nice around $23k. I came back the next day after work to look at it in the light and it was sold. A guy on this site bought it. So it seems they are in a good demand in my case.

OP back from a super break, as many might already know. I traded the 09 in for a magma red nismo. mainly for financing reasons, but the other reason was that turns out the magma red color would only be on the 2013 model. EVER. 2014+ Z's will go back to solid red.
thoughts? the 13 feels a bit more refined. and the stock oil cooler, bose system, and better brakes help too. other than that, its pretty much exactly the same as it was just prettier. I HATED my solid red color, it had no depth to it, its pretty and plain at the same time..... hard to explain. But this new magma red looks FANTASTIC!!! At night its a dark bronze color, while mid day its a deep depth red with metal flake, and in direct sunlight its almost orange but with a bit of character to it that cant be described unless you see it up close. I just ordered the ARK DT-S exhaust for it, closely followed by the nismo 1.5 GT PRO clutch type LSD and 4.08 gear. and I hope in the near future to scrounge enough cash to toss in weisco lightweight pistons, forged rods, motordyne intake "or another if someone makes the damn thing NOT using 350z intake" a dual plate clutch of which brand i havent decided yet. and EVENTUALLY the fast intentions TT kit. I slapped down a lot of talk about doing this before, but now im actually ordering parts one at a time. and Im installing them all myself then taking it to have it tuned professionally. I already installed all the JDM nismo crap on the car aside from the LSD. For example the frame brace kit, and when they finally come in the ******* mail, the tail lights. |
That is a VERY good reason to buy a Nismo. That and not having to buy a body kit, rims and whatever visually appealing things it has. I see 350z's almost everyday and man does it get boring. The only one that really caught my attention was a white nismo.

lol I like the JDM stuff for exclusivity. Already cool enough that theres probably only about 40 magma red nismos that ever got sold since they made it for 1 year only out of 500 "supposed" production models a year. Hell maybe less. It will essentially make my car a 1 of 1, and I didnt even have to smother it with fast and furious aftermarket garbage to do it. aside from the turbo...... and the exhaust..... necessary evil I guess. All of it was manufactured BY the company that actually produces the car, specifically FOR the car so imo its not "aftermarket" as the word would normally be defined.
Honestly, if they would have given the Z at least 350-400 WHEEL hp from the factory I probably wouldn't even bother with forced induction at all. And the exhaust....... well we all know the stock Z sounds like 100% garbage, probably the worst sounding engine ive heard in 20 years from any car. But DAMN did they get the styling right, anyone who messes with that is running a fools errand. |
^^^ Yeah, I bought the Z for loox and Xclusivity too! LOL! I don't like driving a car that is seen at least four times to and from my work place (15 miles one way), ie: Mustank, C5/C6, Slomaro.
|
I would've bought a Nismo, but they don't come in blue.
|
yeah I got SUPER STUPID excited in 2012 when they announced the 13's would have 2 new colors. magma red and midnight blue. I thought DAMN thats going to be a kick *** color on a nismo. And then nissan was to ******* stupid to change the stitching color from red, therefore permabanning the nismo from ever being a color that might clash with red SEWING THREAD. Needless to say I was furious, so much I bought a magma red model and am actually perfectly content. So I guess they got lucky on this one and nullified my rage
|
just to throw this in there. the factory nismo body kit can take a beating from getting scarped and banged during daily driving use. im not sure how many aftermarket kits can take that kinda abuse.....?
|
Ive thought about that before. Looking at old eclipses and civics and stuff that have body kits on them for a number of years look like they have been used for target practice!!!! But if i look at an "old" 350 nismo, or any factory car that has a body kit on it its in the same condition as the rest of the car. Odd..... material maybe?

Single Turbo Nismo checking in

So I was on my way to Nova the other day, and some dude in an older 535 was in the lane left of me and WAVED ME FWD. So I crept closer than I would have liked to the car in front of me so I could see what this guy wanted. Middle aged fellow, starts asking me questions about the car. "how much" "how fast" "gas milage" blah blah blah. But the part that surprised me is, at the end of the convo, he said "ok its decided, I like this color and im going to buy one" WTF! lol Ive gotten more compliments than I can even count about my 13 but convincing someone to buy one in 2 minutes is a definite first. And the funniest part about it was, we were at a stop light RIGHT NEXT TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP!! So I wouldnt be surprised if he already has it.
|
So does anyone have the inside scoop if the 14 has any other changes besides pin stripes, CF colored side skirts, lip, wing and lower *** and a leather steering wheel and red ring around the speedo? Any changes that actually matter? I can use google, just wanted to see if anyone knew something special.
