2019 marks the end of the 6-spd roadster

If your friends want a NEW 6-speed roadster they better look for 2018. As of 2019, they will only come in automatic

Welcome to the 370Z forums. The 7A transmission is our Z’s are actually excellent transmissions they shift through the gears quite efficiently. Overall if you service the 7A transmission on time the 7A transmission will last a long time to come I have seen 200K-400K miles depends really. Yes the 2019 Nissan 370Z Roadster only comes standard with a 7A (Automatic) transmission just depends on if you don’t mind driving a Z with a automatic transmission?

What could they possibly be gaining from this? Offering manual in the coupe but not roadster? Why change now?

$15000 for a replacement soft top, I wouldn't bother anyway.

Automatic transmissions have probably finally become easier and cheaper to make than manuals

Actually the 7A transmissions in our Z’s are more expensive to manufacture than the 6MT transmissions but, with 7A transmissions you have the luxury of having a automatic transmission in your Z. Everyone is different some perfer the 7A transmission and some perfer the 6MT transmission in the Z it’s up to you. For 2019 you have to get a coupe in order to have a 6MT transmission from Nissan I don’t really know what Nissan’s reasoning behind only offering a 7A transmission in the 2019 Roadster Z I know it’s not cost because the 7A transmission not only cost more to manufacture but, they are more expensive to purchase from vendors comparing to the 6MT transmission. If you search and shop around Genuine Nissan OEM top replacements are not that expensive it’s really the labor and plus the cost for any extra parts is what shops and the Nissan dealership service departments charge the most for I guess it’s part of really wanting to owning a convertible “Roadster” Z. One major reason the hydraulics and motor fail is because Roadster Z owners never change their Genuine Nissan hydraulic fluid ever.

Most people who buy convertibles are not looking for pure performance. It's just for looks and cruising around. Not offering the manual in the convertible is strictly due to sales and nothing else. I'm amazed they bother with a Z Convertible at all.

It's the only Nissan I'd (and did) buy, but I recognize that I am in the fast-disappearing minority. I just love driving a stick.

Totally agree with you, I would never buy an auto sports car. But I accept each to their own. For me driving my roadster around out in the country with the top down, working the gears etc really makes you feel more part of the car and really enhances the driving experience , especially with my new Invidia exhaust I just fitted

+1

I also would never buy an automatic sports car / roadster, but it seems soon we may not have a choice! I guess I'll keep buying used, but for now I'm still loving my 6MT roadster. As you said, there is nothing quite as visceral as a spirited drive with the top down, rowing your own gears. It's bliss!

Seems as if Nissan is just milking this to the end, saving the MTs for the Nismos and sport coupes. No matter how many times they hint at a new design, it's so apparent that blatantly they don't have the money to invest in new sports cars and especially for a new Z car, when they are probably stretched to keep the GT-R updated. I've given up and now view whatever they do through this lens.
