This crash happened outside his shop, AEperformance. A source said it involved no drugs or alcohol, and I'm assuming the driver was hooning the car beyond a safe limit.

No, but if you're in a car with someone going that fast on a public road, my sympathy is almost none.

Charity event to show off and whatnot. You lose control, much sympathy, you were doing what you do just to help out.

As soon as the car's in motion, the passenger has no control. Who's to say he wasn't begging the guy to slow down?

I don't care about the details. It is what it is. There's only one point here. He's gone and left a child behind.

I still have more sympathy for the mother who was widowed and left 2 kids behind because she died when street racers hit her.

His kid has a mom still, and all the money in the world

Zbrah 11-30-2013 11:27 PM

A mother of 3 young children was killed as a result of an illegal street racing and most of you didn't give a flying ****. Some celebrity dies in an expensive joy ride and everyone is heart broken :wtf2: Now that is Sad.

Facebook, which we know is always true... Says it was a charity event... I'll await for more details... It's sketchy that there weren't 5000 people and 500000 photos of this charity event

There's a live video off the fire before the fire fighters got there. But the sites are so slammed can't get the link.

Ah, tragedy: The most human of emotional reactions, other than cruelty.

Clearly, he was too fast, yet did not apply the brakes with sufficient fury.

Jonas Salk is also dead; I'll use the one candle I have handy to light for him...

Some of this is a bit odd; a bit like the texting teen thread on the forum earlier in some aspects. Somebody starts a thread expressing condolences to the family, some others do the same, then there are some that feel the need to assert fault in the deceased and their lack of compassion for those involved.

This thread didn't start by telling anyone what to feel, nor was fault at the heart of the matter. People are visited by misfortune of their own making and otherwise; they often leave behind loved ones. Why some folks feel the need to proclaim their indifference for either the deceased or their families here is bizarre. You don't care? ok, good for you, but why do you care enough to post your indifference or to blame those involved? Sure, they were probably at fault and that has been largely uncontested, but somewhere two parents lost a child and a child lost her father. That the passenger entered the car on his own volition doesn't change that. Moreover, the notion that we should be chided for expressing compassion for the families of people who die in accidents of their own making is unfair. I get it, it's the fault of the participants, some people care others don't. This isn't the "expressions of blame and indifference thread" it's title is "Rest in Peace Paul Walker" thread.

DLSTR 12-01-2013 07:09 AM

Condolences to all involved. Sad as he was an exciting actor and passionate motoring fan.

Unfortunately the car is one that is very tricky at the limit or not very close. Start watching at around 6 minutes for Stigs' experience as Jeremy describes his feelings on the car. Not at all very forgiving even at lower speeds/dynamic loads.

BBC: Porsche Carrera GT Car Review- Top Gear - YouTube

Looking at the crash photos - the front wheels appear to be cranked into a slide to the right and the rears came around as the chassis was fractured severely if not broken in half. I would suspect the impact immobilized both of them and unable to escape the fire.

Many similar accidents at the Nurburgring in exotics that are tricky near the limit/unforgiving.

What a DAY!

1 The opening of my wife's business

2 The worst message today
My favorite performer of movies dies in a Porsche Carrera GT..

What does this relationship.

R.I.P Paul Walker
And our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved

Greetings from the other side of the earth
Ivo

Even if the road was closed for the charity event, the poles are still there. Performance driving should never be done on a street, even if its closed. So RIP Paul, he seems like a kind of guy you could sit with and talk cars all day long. Most of us had friends growing up that died in street races.
