Rip Paul.. obviously the high speed was the big factor to make the car look like that but still not sure about all the details ... Super nice guy to end his life this young of age.. prayers for his family specially his 15 year daughter.. :(

kenchan 12-01-2013 07:53 AM

:( so it was true...

cptspeed 12-01-2013 08:02 AM

Condolences to the daughter. Since I must obey all traffic devices, I guess I will trade the Z in for a Yugo. Really? Some of you guys sound like mothers. In an age in which there are 600 hp cars available to anyone with good credit, how can we pass judgement. RIP Paul Walker.

Gadgetech 12-01-2013 08:38 AM

Always hate to hear this kind of news.

DCNISMO 12-01-2013 08:43 AM

Did the GT have the electronic nannies? My V has them and a few times it's saved me from wadding around a tree.

Some of this is a bit odd; a bit like the texting teen thread on the forum earlier in some aspects. Somebody starts a thread expressing condolences to the family, some others do the same, then there are some that feel the need to assert fault in the deceased and their lack of compassion for those involved.

This thread didn't start by telling anyone what to feel, nor was fault at the heart of the matter. People are visited by misfortune of their own making and otherwise; they often leave behind loved ones. Why some folks feel the need to proclaim their indifference for either the deceased or their families here is bizarre. You don't care? ok, good for you, but why do you care enough to post your indifference or to blame those involved? Sure, they were probably at fault and that has been largely uncontested, but somewhere two parents lost a child and a child lost her father. That the passenger entered the car on his own volition doesn't change that. Moreover, the notion that we should be chided for expressing compassion for the families of people who die in accidents of their own making is unfair. I get it, it's the fault of the participants, some people care others don't. This isn't the "expressions of blame and indifference thread" it's title is "Rest in Peace Paul Walker" thread.

This deserves reposting. Do these same people show up at funerals and insult the deceased and try to point out fault to grieving loved ones in some sort of better-than-thou demonstration?

That this happens on a performance car forum many of whose drivers have done stupid things with their car when not on a track that could end in a similar accident is icing...

Not many celebrity deaths have made me sit back and think, but Paul's passing is doubly important to me as it stands as a reminder to always respect the speed, power, and life around you. Is it more tragic than another car enthusiastic death? Perhaps not, but Paul is high profile and lived in a world (at least to our perception) of being above commonman mortality and problems. F&F didn't completely get me into performance cars, but it was the start of the thoughts and of my appreciation for the passion he brought to his life and work.

chops 12-01-2013 12:35 PM

probably didnt help that it was supposedly shortly after they left the event. cold tires, cold brakes probably didnt do them any good. RIP

Chemical fire, and exploding car made very little help possible. Would have needed a Class C fire extinguisher, I think.

We're they done filming FF7? That could throw a wrench into the film if they were only half way done.

Not done yet. Apparently they were going to film most of his parts this week too:

Pretty sad to see this news yesterday, I was really hoping it would be a hoax but now we know that's not the case.

I never met Paul but he always seemed like a who would be cool in person and was a true car guy.

This is yet another instance that we all need to take it easy on the streets, so many different variables that sometimes you can't anticipate everything

My condolensces go out to his family, he was way too young to pass away

I still can't believe he's gone. After watching all of the F&F movies, it felt like losing a friend. RIP Paul Walker.

If you want to donate without wondering about the legitimacy of some random website selling stickers, his charity was www.roww.org.

ka24king 12-01-2013 06:48 PM

Reading this whole thread and all the posts from family it's hard to fight the sadness it really is like losing somewhat of a role model as an enthusiast

Antistupid 12-01-2013 07:01 PM

RIP, he also got me into the car world. actually made me favor Nissan too.

We have all gone over the speed limit, so leave that **** alone. No one else was hurt. Considering the skill of the driver, Paul, and obviously the capabilities of the car, I would go ahead and favor a failure with a tire.

Just think, for anyone who really knew or followed Paul, he always advocated for safe driving/track only regardless of his movies and he used his fame and fortune to continue to help others. He saved far more people than he hurt in this case.

ZMan8 12-01-2013 08:04 PM

RIP Paul. I did not know him personally, but many of us feel like we lost a friend. I think we can agree that his F&F movies created a persona that was likable and one we as a car culture appreciated. He will be greatly missed.

My friends and I had barely a few years in the USAF when The Fast and the Furious came out. I remember driving my Integra to the theater along with a few Eclipses, Civics, and a 240SX. Almost 13 years later, most of us are nearing retirement. It's bittersweet seeing someone we looked up to pass away doing what he truly loved. I never met Paul Walker, but he'll surely be missed. RIP Brian O'Connor. We know you can box.

40th_z 12-01-2013 11:34 PM

RIP Paul..... he seemed down earth, i never saw an interview where he acted "Hollywood". In a way he started my passion for the auto industry. fanboy or not, after the first movie I fell in love with the supra and the yellow R33. Condolences to all those involved and i hope he went quick, can't imagine what his friends had to endure waiting for the firefighters to put out the car....

DCNISMO 12-02-2013 07:06 AM

Looks like the shop he owned is now sort of blaming the car...

Paul Walker -- Death Car May Have Malfunctioned | TMZ.com

I call BS on that. Power Steering fluid does not burn and even if a line burst, you can still steer the car. This my friends will get messy....I smell a law suit against Porsche on this....or some attempt of it. Notice how they say the car was not modified....I don't believe that either. The whole purpose of his shop WAS to mod cars.

Cmike2780 12-02-2013 08:25 AM

Very sad to hear it was true. As a Filipino, I'm truly grateful for his support for the typhoon victims that devastated the country a few weeks ago. Knowing he was headed to that same charity event makes it even more tragic. Say what you will about the circumstances of his death, no one deserves to die so young. My utmost condolences and respect to the families of Roger Rodas, Paul Walker and the AE Performance family.

Ah humans, so a new video has surfaced where Tyrese comes to view the area where Paul Walker died, and it shows him getting teary eyed.

NOT ONE god damn person decided to give the guy a hug... Instead, every ásshole turned their camera to him... You don't even know Paul Walker, this guy has known him for 14 years!!!

osirus 12-02-2013 10:17 AM

Our Sincerest condolences and sympathies go out to the families of both Roger Rotas and Paul Walker. Both were fathers, sons and influential people in many individuals lives. Let's not forget that Paul was not alone, and Roger will not be forgotten either. He was not as famous, but you DAMN Sure he was important...maybe not to you or to I, but he was someone to somebody. Both will be truly missed, loved and forever always remembered. RIP to both you wonderful people, may your souls race with those in heaven, may your legacies carry on in your heart, mind and soul. And let us not forget one of my most influential sayings....

"....The past is behind us now, Live your lives for Now, loving those whom you keep close, and decide your future one moment at a time, Live for now and embrace it."

This was a shocker in my book. His interviews probd him to be a humble and likeable person. He was a true enthusiast and sportsman. My heart and prayers go out to his family.

Watch the TMZ video of the cash or a bit of it. A car was right behind then and stopped in front of the crash. They know what happened.
