To be fair, despite all my bitching and moaning -- I agree; it was a good episode.

Although, I'm a bit annoyed that we watched like 30 people die of the flu, but the kidnapping of Michonne and Hershel pretty much happened completely off camera...

Oh, well...

Samuel Jackson would be great....but I'm guessing he wants way too much money to be on a TV show. Most A list actors want the freedom to shot movies and not be tied down to a grind it out weekly TV shoot.

I liked the walker coming up out of the mud and munching on that girl, what a new way to get bit. I did not see that coming. Creepy for sure.

I really liked last night's episode. I agree that it's much more in line with the comic now, it just took a different route to get to the same destination.

There is still a little character role confusion between the two, but they found a way to make it work.

I always find it funny how the noisiest zombies can always sneak up on them. Also, what was up with that zombie in the mud by the river? Just happened to be there this whole time and come out? Just glad the governor is gone.

Apparently that flash flood sign the little girl dug up was the only thing keeping him under the mud.

i'm guessing he had been buried in the mud during a flash flood and died and turned zombie but couldn't move to dig itself out so when she started digging and happened to pull up that sign, it was enough for him to get loose i suppose. that whole scene was played out well, imo.

i thoroughly enjoyed this episode. there were some great character moments and the ending was, to me, how the showdown at the end of season 3 should have gone. regardless, i did have one major gripe. i understand that the people who were with the governor did not know rick or his group at all, i get that. but it was quite obvious that they were going to welcome them into their group before the gov went all hacky-slashy. so when rick pulled out his gun and shot the governor, why did everyone else suddenly open fire? why would these people so blindly follow this guy they've known for a week or so at the most into mortal combat? i mean i cans see the tank guy but all those other people were just people, not soldiers. i didn't get that.

still, i enjoyed the episode thoroughly and i can't wait to see where it goes next. surely, Daryl grabbed little ***kicker on his way out, he was the one taking care of her most of the time anyway.

Agreed -- overall good.

Some heavy handedness in the directing/writing (e.g., "Zombies can't cross water"; stepping on Odin-esque chess piece), but at least they are back on track.

Good point on S.L.J.

Maybe a more laid back character actor would work better anyway... we've only seen a little bit of this particular character in the comic thus far...

( Click to show/hide )
Jimmy Cliff would be pretty cool -- he's got the right vibe, and I could see him chilling with a tiger

Does nobody care about Carol? Daryl didn't even bat an eyelid. I think I read somewhere (and laughed when I read it), I would care more for my futon that I just threw out than the anger Daryl feels for Carol's exile.

Good episode but totally agree with above sentiments, what the f*ck are those people in Woodbury 2.0 smoking? The only one that actually behaved the way I expect 'normal' people would after a beheading was Tara. Everybody else, FIRE AT WILL! WTF?

Still - quite an episode. I expected Herschel to die after his heroic efforts in the prison. It was time.

I didn't mind the talking in the begining, gotta set things up. Seems to be what a lot of people complain about this season. I know it was building to something

As for the people blindly following the governor, I hear you on that but I guess its a snap shot of how people can be. You want to badly to survive and believe in something, it was easy to get wrapped up in the moment. Was still surprising, but one of the reasons I love the show

The last 15 minutes were intense...now the long wait to February

Tyrell should have been decapitated by the Govenor, not Hershel
-- is consistent with the comic, and they sort of kind of resolved some big differences between comic and show (e.g., Rick's baby being dead -- that kid better not show up on the bus...).

Except for the guy with the crossbow. He's a good addition, but not in the comic. And a few other random characters, but they aren't critical to the story anyway...

Buuuuuut... there was no reason to drag out the actual showdown with the Gov. beyond the fall of Woodbury. None. It added zilch to the story. So far the whole season has been about a bad flu and otherwise we are right where we should have been at the end of last season.

Nothing that happened mattered this whole season, EXCEPT for this latest episode. Nothing. Pure filler.

Hershel should have been dead from waaaaaay back. He basically just filled in for whatshisface with the hat, right down to the lost leg.

Also, losing Andrea was a stupid thing for AMC to do. I Predict they'll reintroduce her -- or another sharpshooter chick (I notice they're kind of grooming that one little girl who saved Tyrell for that) when they come to the next big storyline, which should be...

( Click to show/hide )
joining the Alexandria Safe Zone group, meeting the Hilltop community, and eventually encountering the Saviors
.

Oh and...

( Click to show/hide )
Hey, AMC: Get Henry Rollins for Negan and Samuel L. Jackson for Ezekiel, and all will be forgiven -- even the exploding CDC!
Haven't read the comics but the spoilers and what happens in the comics sound interesting.

apparently on "Talking Dead" the director or producer was on with the actor that plays Hershel, didn't watch it yet but should be interesting.

Anyways, happy it ended the way it did for now, with everyone possibly off in seperate directions, the prison falling...I know many complained it felt like it was getting stale...well there you go...should be fresh for awhile

In that situation it's survival of the fittest. If you were there and didn't know the back story you would do the same. You would be thinking **** we have a tank. I can protect my family. We can have a life behind these walls.

I think every season the writers brainstorm like mad and then worry about the corners (e.g., character inconsistencies, unnecessary or confusing plot developments,) they wind up painting themselves into later.

Maybe they have a "reset button" mentality, where so long as they wind up back on course with comic on the major plot points/characters alive vs. dead/etc. they figure it will all work out so long as the ratings hold.

That's probably what they're doing.

Meanwhile, Kirkman cashes royalty checks and storyboards unspeakable horrors that will never be part of the show.

Sigh.
