Great shot Sean!

osbornsm 10-29-2014 02:11 PM

Any advice how not to freak out over Christmas/presents season?

i have more anxiety and hatred of this season than any time of the year... i'm doing this wrong. :shakes head:

:crying:

Exactly, it's never been anything happy.

There was no traumatic event that happened to me.
I just loathe being told when to buy things for people.

Why are the holidays happy for you guys?

Well.....you don't HAVE to buy anything!

For me, this time of year is when I get to see a lot of family and friends, some of whom I haven't seen since the prior year or even longer. It also means good food and drinks. It's time where I don't travel as much for work and get to spend quality time at home. It's also the only part of winter that I like. Come January 2nd- I'm ready for summer.

jlo370z 10-29-2014 03:33 PM

I'm just a big kid, so I love getting presents lmao! Anyone need my xmas list?

I think it's my social anxiety (yes Mulen, all the time) plus the obligation to buy gifts. I see my family for easter, christmas, thxgiving, birthdays, anniversarys.

I have 50 people at my Christmas dinner and its become more and more difficult to handle every year.

I just want to hide from the world and never come out.

Fwiw xmas with my wife's family sucks ***. 1 there is 50 of them, all trying to speak over each other so it's like a huge shouting match. 2 I'm a red headed step child. Everyone of them has at least 1 gift to open, except me who has 0 because I got in family late and am not a god parent to none of the children. Now I don't care that I get no gift, but they go in order of age so every year they make a point to call me out and then go ooops lol.
They are all good people but between the noise and the look you get nutin lol.... Whatever.

Your not alone in your suffering my friend, your not alone

So Sean!....

My inlaws completely hate me. My mother in law and I were good. She and I got along great. She passed away about 4 years ago. After that my father in law went bat sh*t crazy. Within a few weeks he found someone new to share in this crazy on a "Christian" dating site. She was raised a lot of red flags with us. Then they decided they were going to get married. So I hired a PI and shown him that she was going guy to guy to guy stealing businesses overlapping addresses, opening credit cards etc. She denied all of this, of course, but it was all in police databases. Even so dad decided to believe her and made me the bast@rd of the family for hiring a PI. A year later he discovered she was still living with another guy and had an apartment with him. He swept that under the rug and is still with her. Besides that my wife was the red-headed step child of her family. I hated going to family events because she would always leave in tears. I was almost glad to be done with it when her father disowned us for the whole PI thing. He keeps reaching out now, but we won't have anything to do with it. The new wife has made threats to sue me and I just don't want to take any chances because I know she's capable of following through with that even if she won't win and could cost me a whole lot of cash even if I didn't do anything. What I'm saying is......

everyone has problems bro! Man up and have a stiff drink!!!!

Damn, I guess I'm lucky then. We get along great with both sides, and holidays are always a blast. Days do get a little long since we visit both families, but other than that I love it!

funny! I consider myself lucky cuz I don't have to drive all over the place anymore. It's all in how you look at it. Life is happier in my house without all that drama. We see the people we like. To be honest we started our own tradition with family and friends that are in like situations. We all go to a casino on xmas eve. It's really the most fun part of the holiday, and we are usually the only people in the casino. We have a blast!! We call it "The Black Sheep Xmas" :icon17::icon17:

Casino sounds fun!

We both grew up in this area so our drives are very short. Her parents are 5mins away and mine are 15mins. Once we have kids, my wife wants to host at our house, so no more driving!

Try not to look at Christmas as a time of obligations and stressing over lots of things such as to do lists and gifts. See it as an opportunity to reconnect with family or friends you have not spoken to in a while. There is this social obligation to bring gifts for everybody and I definitely am guilty of getting sucked in to that. At the end of the day realize that those who only want to see others for the gift are not worth your time to think about. If you want Little symbolic gifts are much better. Leave larger more thought out gifts for the closest in your life. People sometimes forget that holidays are about being together, laughing, having a good time with your family and friends. Gift are a by product of holidays/ special occasions that have become part of our culture.

Bring a bottle of wine to dinner and enjoy the moment. :D

Thanks guys... does mean a lot :hello:

One common theme, everybody says drink to make it better... I can not.
(one sip of alcohol will give me a migraine) :shakes head:

you don't need to drink to have fun. It's all about your mindset!

Are you allergic to alcohol?

Today marks the beginning of misery. Ugh winter.

osbornsm 11-03-2014 12:57 PM

I guess i should take the summer tires off before they become skiis. :icon14:

b15 11-03-2014 02:08 PM

I put Blizzaks on my winter car this year. First time with snow tires, ready to see what the hype is about. I'll probably prep the Z for storage on Saturday

NFSZ86 11-04-2014 04:39 PM

When are you guys putting the Zs away ?

Btw I can't drink due to it making my skin red and itchy so it's really all about perception. You don't need anything but water and basic food to live anyway so who cares because in the end you drive a Z and that's all that matters ^__^

ZMan8 11-05-2014 11:53 AM

:hello: checking in with this group. It's quiet season until April :ugh:

I'm planning to this weekend, but looks like it'll be pretty cold. We'll see.

Meulen 11-05-2014 12:37 PM

as soon as they put salt on the road mine will get tucked away in the garage

NFSZ86 11-05-2014 12:51 PM

I'm getting ready so maybe this weekend.

b15 11-05-2014 02:21 PM

I'm hoping it's just warm enough to get in a wash/detail. Otherwise I'll just change the oil and let it sit in the garage.....dirty and coverless
