Glad I found this thread. Good to see some local guys. I just got myself a Z two weeks ago. Looking forward to meeting some fellow owners.

Haha yeah it's black. Looked long and hard for a white one optioned the same way but couldnt find one. It's also my first black car and I'm ocd about having a clean car so let's see how I adjust.

Pat do you have a Monterey or Midnight blue? I love the Midnight

Ni55anPat 03-14-2013 04:17 PM

Monterey, i love it! Get compliments on it all day, alot of people, even car guys don't know they produced this color.

b15 03-14-2013 04:39 PM

 Monterey was the color I originally wanted to get, but they didn't have one optioned the way I wanted it within 700 miles... :ugh2:

and yes the new midnight blue is :yum:

Have fun cleaning you're car, maybe you'll be like me and avoid bad weather at all costs.

b15 03-14-2013 06:20 PM

Might come down to it. Makes me cringe driving it now with the salty roads. This is the third car that I've said I'm absolutely getting white......and didn't. My daily will probably end up being white......hopefully...

b15 03-15-2013 08:20 AM

Quick question for you guys. At idle with the clutch out my car makes a whining noise. Push in the clutch and it stops. I took it to Gerald Nissan Naperville last week and they said its normal. Does this happen to your Z?

One_Quick_Z 03-15-2013 08:38 AM

Blue sucks white is where it is at....

Isnt that our flywheel spinning, I think everyones z does that and if you get a light flywheel it will get louder .

I don't think it's the flywheel- if it was, wouldn't the noise continue even if the clutch was in? Seems to be the input or pilot bearing? When you slowly let out the clutch you can hear it wind up to the engine speed. I know it's not the throw-out bearing because the symptoms would be the opposite.

It's been awhile since I owned a manual so I can't remember "normal" noises. Z trans seems to be noisy all around too.

The 370z transmission is very noisy, and if you get a light weight fly wheel it will only get more noisy. I think the flywheel is the thing that causes the noise but it's only audible when its connected to the transmission (clutch engaged).

Come to the April 6th or April 14h meet and we can compare.

b15 03-15-2013 12:30 PM

Sounds good. At least the noise is documented and car has power train warranty until 3/2016.

Can't make the Apr 6th one because I have a wedding to attend but will definitely try to make the Apr 14th

Only one in Chicago??.....wow. That would be a surprise as this system is really good.

On the other hand, I guess I'm special.

we all have Fast Intentions  :icon17:

Berk is probably second most common though on these forums.

I narrowed it down to three; FI, Berk and Tanabe. In order to take full advantage of the Tanabe, you needed to purchase their Y pipe. This would take the cost of the exhaust up to $1700 to $2000g's depending on where/who purchased from. IMO, that was just too much to spend on an exhaust.

I really like the sound of the FI's, but I wanted more of a look closer to stock. So I decided to go with the Berk. Either way, you can't go wrong!!

When we meet in a couple of weeks, you might want to bring a towel to wipe all the drool after you see, hear the Berk. :stirthepot:
