I am going to be out of town next week, but coming back on the 20th. Thinking about doing some work on the Z on the 21st if anyone is in the area and feels like coming by to distract me. Work I am planning on doing:
1: Oil Change 2: Paint Head Light Internals 3: Install Reverse Camera and module for stock Nav 4: Figure out why my speakers have no sound 5: Plasti-dip my wheels again 6: Re-Dip my door handles 7: Replace Passanger Fender Liner 8: Install a GoPro Mount 9: Install LEDs for interior lights 10: Wash/Wax A lot on the "to do" list, doubt I will get it all done. But the weather should be nice, time to play with the Z! |

As of now, the weather liar is threatening us with a high of 52 and afternoon rain for the 21st. I don't know if it'll be a top-down day, but I do plan to go to Cars and Coffee. If you need directions, don't hesitate to holler. I plan to be there early enough to get breakfast with Irene. |
well i got stuck in Charlotte last night so no time to play with the Z today.
|
Ok so I am working on the Z most of the day Saturday if anyone is in the area. Have a lot to do!
|
IZCC is going to be at Cars and Coffee (96th and Meridian - in the parking lot in front of Another Broken Egg Cafe.) on the 18th. Come on down, one and all. Help represent the Z community.
We get there early (8 or 8:30), get a decent spot, then have breakfast. Come on down, up, or over as appropriate. |
Bummer, I plan on being there. See you then for breakfast.

finally got my car all back together. didnt have time to get my headlights painted but I can do that later.
Here is what I did: 1. Replaced spark plugs (iridum) 2. Changed Oil 3. Installed Zspeed under tray (makes oil changes much easier) 4. Installed Z1 pcv silicone hoses and crank breather hoses 5. Plasti-dipped wheels and strut brace 6. put LED bulbs in interior and lisence plate 7. installed back up camera 8. Fixed non working stereo (replaced a lot of fuses haha) 9. Dynamat in the trunk to quiet exhaust drone (worked way better than expected) 10. Fixed my washer over flow sensor so it reads properly 11. added wheel spacers to the front 20mm and rear 25mm So all thats left is to paint the inside of my headlights black so they match the car. Not sure when I will have time to do that. But it was nice to have the car out after a month of driving only my crappy Jeep! https://resources.oncourse.iu.edu/ac...k/IMG_5133.JPG https://oncourse.iu.edu/access/conte...k/IMG_5017.JPG https://resources.oncourse.iu.edu/ac...k/IMG_5096.JPG https://resources.oncourse.iu.edu/ac...k/IMG_5098.JPG https://resources.oncourse.iu.edu/ac...k/IMG_5137.JPG |

Just FYI...the IZCC is committed to show up every third Saturday of the month. So hope to see you then.
|
Saw a bunch of Zs at Cars and Coffee, didnt talk to any of them though. That was my first time out there, pretty nice meet up. Definitely some cool cars there.
|
anyone going to Cars and Coffee this weekend? I think I will probably go if its nice out.
Also I am planning on doing a little project here this summer. So if anyone has a lower and upper intake manifold I can borrow for about a week let me know. |

The Z club (IZCC) schedules a group show-up on the third Saturday of each month. We usually try to get there pretty early so we can park together. Next time, come by and chat. How else can we talk you into joining? Unfortunately I won't be able to make it until October, which may well be the effective end of the season, but I plan to be there on other Saturdays to make up for it. |
yeah, my next few saturdays are booked. So I wont make it this month.

On the side note, Let's plan a spirited drive down Brown county. Anyone up for it? |

I love going to brown county, I'd be up for a trip later this summer. |

I am planning to setup a Brown County Run for August 1st. (Saturday) So far, the only good road I know in Indy is Rt135. Do let me know other roads you have been to and I'll go test drive for potholes and traffic before the planned run. I used to do mountain runs in NY (Bear Mountain), w/ a mix of different cars, including lotuses, porsche, bmws, evos, GTRs. It is amazing fun. Attached is one picture I found of us on bimmerforums. http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/r...1/DSC_3281.jpg |
A popular motorcycle route in the Brown County area:
Starting at a gas station in Columbus for meetup and fuelup (usually the BP) - 46 west to 135 south Loop 135 south to 58 58 west to 446 446 north to 46 46 east through Nashville back to the 135 south turn End of loop Continuing east to Columbus for ~78 miles for the loop and 98 for the full route, BP to BP. Since the 58 Cafe got shut down by the local church when they tried to get a liquor license, the only food midway on the route is at the Story Inn. They do sandwiches midday on Saturdays. Ice Cream at Bruster's at the 446 and 46 intersection. Lots of stuff at Nashville - food, shopping, and such. There's also a winery along the route for those into that sort of thing. 50 is an alternative to 58 - longer, but faster, smoother, and plenty scenic. The online motorcycle group I'm a member of pushes to have this as an annual ride. Always a lot of folks behind me. http://www.the370z.com/members/bumme...le-indiana.png |
This route looks amazing. I'll go test it out. Any good places to stop in the middle for pictures?
|
These are country roads. There are several places I'd love to have as backgrounds to a car-porn shot, but roadwise they just won't work.
You can probably get away with a shot in front of the Story Inn. Very rustic. Might depend on day of the week. Just south of the Horseman's entrance to the park there's a small cemetery on the east side of 135. There's a shelter with a gravel loop road. You can get some nice shots with woods as backgrounds there. Assuming clockwise travel, on 446, just as you get to the bridge over the Lake Monroe, there is a State recreational area to the right that may have some possibilities. There are areas that might work for simply pulling over and taking a pic from across the road. It really all depends on what you want in the way of a background. |
Since Louisville is in the thread title, here's one at the south end of Indiana with about half in Kentucky:
http://www.the370z.com/members/bumme...ards-roost.png If anyone is interested in this I'll have to give more detail maps of turns. The Kentucky side is not well marked. Most of the Indiana side is the Ohio River Road, but cuts off to go through some fairly deep forest past Buzzards Roost. This route begins at 135 and the Ohio River Road in Corydon. It crosses the river into Kentucky then follows the river to Hawesville, crosses back over to Cannelton, then heads east on the Ohio River Road. Lunch at the Overlook, a down home style restaurant overlooking the horse shoe bend of the Ohio River. Ice Cream at Emery's Ice Cream Parlor (if they're open, and yes, it looks like the web site). There's a lot of great scenery on this one. This one isn't quite as popular with my touring bike buddies as the Brown County route, but that's primarily because it's long enough you really need to spend two nights in Corydon to do do it right. Of course that usually means Friday night dinner of frog legs or plate size tenderloin at The Dock right on the river in old Leavenworth - you can watch the barges go by on the river within rock throwing distance. This one has several good photo op spots. |
Thanks for the input Steve. I'll look into all the maps. I'm not planning to go that down south since I'm planning to create a route close enough for people to drive atleast once a month.
|
You're quite welcome.
I understand. I added that last one primarily because I know there are folks on here who live in the vicinity of Louisville. For those of us in the Indy area that's more of a once a year cruise. I have one for the folks around Cincinnati and Lexington, but I need to find the maps I printed out to get that one right. That one includes Rabbit Hash Road, and some lanes the feel like they should have been featured in Deliverance. (We were traveling on a fairly narrow hilly lane through dense woods, talking about the scenery on our CB radios when we heard "Those sure are some purty bikes." I said "Thank you very much" and didn't slow down. It was a relief to not hear any banjo music.) There are also some good roads near Paoli/French Lick, and north east of the Madison area. I also have some great routes in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, South Dakota, Arkansas, West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina. Twenty five years of hard core motorcycling touring has its benefits. :) This is my signature file from the Venture Rider site, complete with my motorcycle based visited states map: http://www.the370z.com/members/bumme...ycle-world.jpg The map in the signature file below is strictly Z Roadster based. We're planning a trip to fill in the left side of the map, but will use the Z for that one. Maturity takes its toll when it comes to full gear motorcycle vacations - 5000 miles minimum or it doesn't count as a vacation. For some reason that wears worse than it used to. |
