I've gotta chime in here since I'm a automotive detailing freak.

First, new microfibers should always be washed in hot water numerous times before use. Also, never toss them in the dryer with dryer sheets as the residue will stick to the MF towels and could introduce hairline scratches into the clearcoat.

Second, I have one of those water blades. I used it once on my paint 10 years ago and left some nasty scratches in the clear after a thorough car wash and rinse. The water blades or squeegees are great for glass, not so much on paint if you want your finish to remain scratch and swirl free.

Not trying to chastise you or anything like that man, just looking out since I know how soft Nissan's paint is!

I DD my car too much to care about the small things like that. My Z is FAAAAAAR from showroom and I've only had it since September.

Nonetheless, this is great info.

I'm slowly starting to care less and less

Working on the paint with the DA buffer and doing some correction is kinda therapeutic for me. Listen to some tunes and make her shine

You know, I completely understand that. I think I only care very little because of how much I drive. If it was within the realm of feasibility to take proper care of her paint, I definitely would too.

Blasted 495...you should see the drivers side of my front bumper...

I use Adams Polish system... It works for me...

The front of my car looks like it has been sand blasted due to the crap that nissan puts on the cars that they call "Paint" I have never had another brand of car look like the sloppy bucket of $hite that my two Zs looked like. The 370 is worse than the 350 if that is possible.

Any detailing questions, always here to help

Here's what my paint looks like after some DA buffer work and a few layers of Zaino. Never garaged, DD and 60 miles roundtrip to work each day. I have problems....

OK, I have a question... Why do you put the Scotch Blue tape on the car while you are puffing and polishing? I tend to roll over my edges with the buffer. Should I be putting tape on it instead?

Depending on the cutting pad and compound with a DA buffer it can mar up the finish on your window trim, plastics, etc. It's more of a safety precaution than anything just in case the buffing pad hits those areas on the car.

Plus it also prevents the compound from getting lodged in all the cracks and crevices (which is a PITA to remove)

I had a pretty nasty drivers side scratch (D&V buffed it out) after carlisle last weekend. I wonder if that squeegee did it. Either that or the little kid that leaned on my car in motherf'ing blue jeans so his dad could take a picture.

*sigh*

I know I would never touch my car's paint with a squeegee.
