If we went out to Skyline we'd have to stay pretty well within the limits.
Agreed. The last group drive I went on was with my WRX club. Although there was no trouble with the law, some members got out of hand as far as speeds and driving went. I actually even got passed on a turn by the event organizer . That kind of turned me off, and then I saw a post from the Porsche club where one member got killed on a group drive because of such jackassery. I'm not into violating the posted speeds, pushing my car to its limits on public roads, or potentially wrecking my daily driver. I'd rather do that legally and learn what my car can do on a track, which is a controlled environment. God forbid I do mess up and wreck, at least there is medical staff nearby and hitting a wall of tires is always much less damaging than slamming into a tree.

However, I would be for taking a scenic group drive up to Skyline to enjoy the scenery and camaraderie of fellow Z enthusiasts. I think that's controllable if you know the people and/or can keep the group relatively small. I think you're kind of laying the ground work by having the first few meets to allow the members to get to know each other. I'm not sure how you'd enforce the policy if someone starts driving crazy though.

Yeah, I'm not into killing myself or someone else on the drive haha. I wouldn't mind keeping it low key and just have a nice afternoon drive on some scenic roads. I'm not looking to get a racing fix on public roads.

I just want to make sure we're all in the same boat here. If you all are OK with cruising at 35-40 MPH in skyline and stopping at overlooks for group photos... awesome! But if you guys really want to carve corners then we're better off getting a group together to try and rent some track time.

Yeah, I'm sure we'll talk more and more about it as we continue to meet. I just want to make sure that no one gets hurt, no property gets damaged, and we don't give the Z community a bad name. We all seemed like a pretty mature bunch so I don't think our group would have any issues... but we'll just have to see as we get more interest. If teenagers start showing up in Daddy's Z I might worry because I was a stupid kid with a fast car once.

Easy enough to have someone pace the cars and have a no passing rule. Sounds like a Nascar caution lap. ;-) Anyone who passes and/or get's crazy gets rocks thrown at their windows! ;-)

I'll be sure to unhook my battery for a little bit and then my windows wont go back up....at least only the windshield and back window would be in trouble.

Well lets plan on a when the weather starts to cool down.

But first, good food and good beer is in order. Expect another meet thread in the next 48 hours.

Well good food and beer sounds like an after 11AM activity, so I should be down.

Joined the MA group and if everyone wants to go for a drive out in western VA (starting 20 min or so west of Manassas) I can lead a drive on some of the roads I ride my motorcycle on. From there we could grab lunch somewhere. (I'd recommend waiting until the fall for a drive like that)

Speed...I agree...similar to motorcycles...I save the speed for the track rather than risk tickets and other BS.

Solid turnout you guys! Aside from port in L.A. for Nissan vehicles from Japan, that's the most 370s I've seen together in one place. Wish I could have been there, but I had to work on Saturday...

Fav picture:

So you guys are thinking Annapolis for the next meet? I would really like to make it out to that one. I know some good spots in Annapolis for a photoshoot.

No ninja pics of redhead?

Jon,

Lance got some ninja video of her walking away from us a few pages back.

Annapolis is definitely going to be the next spot. Most likely dinner at Gordon Biersch... I just need to look up parking details and get the time/date down. Hopefully you can make it out.
