Are you looking for confirmation from those on the list? I'm still in.

dmhenderson 05-06-2013 06:05 PM

Or anyone else who wants one in line with ours. I know FPenvy still wants his.

What time are you guys planning to roll into the show grounds? We're not going to stay out there this year, we're just going to go out on Saturday, but we would like to meet for breakfast if you're planning on that and roll into the show together.

dmhenderson 05-06-2013 07:14 PM

Yeah let's do that.

did anyone else notice that its supposed to rain all weekend?

dmhenderson 05-08-2013 05:01 AM

Yeah, weather looks like a problem, which means all the detailing I did last weekend and leaving the car garaged all week is probably going to be a waste. Oh well, it'll still be a good time and I won't have to worry about sun burn.

dmhenderson 05-08-2013 06:27 AM

I'm gonna buy a couple extra microfiber towels just in case. If it rains, it rains. It doesn't look like it's supposed to be steady rain all day, just occasional thunderstorms.
Nothing a microfiber towel and some detail spray can't fix.

Showboard mock-up done last night. Girlfriend did a killer job. All that's left is the photo shoot tomorrow and I'm golden.

Yeah....Sun burn. I was about as pink as Jen's dress in your avatar picture there.

Hopefully you guys all have a good time and the rain will keep a lot of the junky cars away this year.

I'm not worried about a shower coming through while at the show, I just worry about picking up road grime on my way out there Saturday morning. It's about 85 miles, so I'll probably drive through some wet roadway.:shakes head: If I can just clean and detail, that'll be cool, but I'm not bringing full car wash supplies...

Are you gonna stop by as a spectator or will you be too busy wrenching on your ride?

i may have to borrow some of that lol

honestly i know my car is just gonna be mess from the drive. 200 mile drive after days of rain isnt gonna be pretty. team that up with bug splats as well. i could easily bring cleaning supplies but no use if i cant find a hose and water. i refuse to hit one of those car washes too lol OCD when it comes to washing and what touches my car :shakes head:

Yeah it will definitely be messy. There is a cleaning station though. Im sure a lot will be using it.

And I will be more than happy to meet up with you guys after the show lets out. Maybe we can all grab dinner?? Im doing some prep for mothers day Saturday afternoon so that's what Ill be doing until then lollolol. Were doing a massive family mothers day thing so the guys have like 5 or 6 ladies+ everyone else to cook for :eekdance:

aniceh 05-08-2013 09:24 AM

How robust is the cleaning station? How busy it it, typically?

Looks like we will be judged in tent #1 at 3:00 pm.

It's on their website.

Also, I think I located a self-service car wash about 2.5 miles away. I think it's still active but can't confirm - there's no website.

I don't use those awful brushes, either. I take my buckets and supplies to the self-serve bay and use their equipment only for rinsing.

dmhenderson 05-08-2013 12:18 PM

I have several bottles or Adams waterless wash. I think I'll just go that route and then go over it with detail spray.

i think i may just bring a bucket, my secret green stuff, and my pre-rinse spray on wax. find some water and give it a quickie lol :yum:

yellogixxer 05-08-2013 12:45 PM

I think maybe I'll just be dirty......

dmhenderson 05-08-2013 12:50 PM

I don't want to risk wax with the car being painted yesterday.

You might want to be careful with the waterless wash, then. I think the instructions suggest you should have waxed the car not too long before using that product.

dmhenderson 05-08-2013 12:57 PM

I'll take a look. Worst case I'll just have to be really gentle and use detail spray and a fresh microfiber.

Just called the motel and cancelled the 3 extra rooms so it'll just be the 3 of us I think plus Italy and MKG if they come down to meet up with us.

super gentle like your handling (a) virgin paint :yum: :tiphat:

dmhenderson 05-08-2013 01:01 PM

I don't think it'll need much. I have an 80 mile drive on Fri but the weather is supposed to be clear here tomorrow/fri.

Waiting anxiously for D&V to call me and tell me to come get the car. They said 4-5 but I'll probably go down later to avoid 66 and 495 during rush hour because **** that noise.

If you guys are worried there are a TON of SHeetz gas stations here and they all have touchless washes. I used it a lot to keep salt off of my car and the paint looks great still.

I don't even trust detailers.

this one is ok. i only let do certain things. pretty much my interior since i dont have all the right stuff and trust myself with my seats and the suede micro whatever lol. he butchers wax jobs since he rushes it with a buffer wheel and it's just sloppy.

dmhenderson 05-08-2013 04:08 PM

So... I think I have a solution to the weather issue:

http://www.the370z.com/members/dmhen...how-tent-2.jpg

This thing is freaking huge.

http://www.the370z.com/members/dmhen...how-tent-1.jpg

Looks a little goofy because it's on a hill.

dmhenderson 05-08-2013 04:09 PM

...and if it doesn't rain, we can easily all fit underneath it.
