Adrian,

I'll let Shaun know tomorrow...

What did they cover with 3M? front bumper, hood, side mirrors, etc? How much was it if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for the info!

It's a premade kit from 3m. It covers the fascia, half the hood, front quarter panels, and mirrors. Think it was 650 with the discount. 5 year warranty for yellowing, bubbles, and tears and it's self healing. Total peace of mind.

U can add what u want, but that would be a custom job and cost different. My last 370, I had a wet rock mark that looked like it rolled up the hood....not trying to scare u.

Clear bra or not, Dr Color chip is awesome. Used it on my wife's car and would recommend it over other chip stuff I tried. May be a cheaper route than a clear bra.

bkngo 04-14-2015 07:36 PM

wet rock mark? can you elaborate... What is Dr. Color chip?

Darketch 04-15-2015 06:06 AM

Dr Color chip is a product it fix rock chips. Doesn't cost 600+ bucks. YouTube to check it out.

My last Z had a scratch from the fascia to the middle of the hood. The previous owner said it was a raining and a rock hit and rolled up the car when he was going down the hwy. which is why some folks opt to get the full hood I guess.

I've shipped tons of wheels. It usually costs around $80-$100 to ship the set.

I was the only Z with my group of friends, but there was one 350z, another platinum graphite 370z and a million s2000's. Needless to say I got a lot of compliments on my car, especially the exhaust. I had an s2000 guy tell me it sounded better than all the s2000's lol.

That's where I got mine done. He did an awesome job, really nice guy too. Worth every penny. My front end still looks brand new other than where I hit my bumper on a curb lol.

You know it's kind of funny, a waitress at the Grille within Fontana said the Z guys party way harder than the s2000 guys. My friends got all butthurt about it.

You going this year?

Lol. Too funny. I'm actually going with Tyler in July. Got a cabin over there for a few days. Not going to party. Going to drive and explore. Can't wait.

Voice59 04-15-2015 05:01 PM

If yall know anyone that wants to buy an exhaust, let me know.

Why does "someone's" post screw up my resolution on this thread!

bkngo 04-15-2015 08:00 PM

Adrian,

Thanks for elaborating about wet rock and POC for 3M clear bra...

What was your resolution?

Hell ya I'm going! http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...illy_nilly.gif
Well, at least I plan to at this moment barring any sudden schedule changes. :shakes head:
I’m registered and Chris Grigg hooked me up with a spot in a cabin.
I’m also doing Sun-Sun again this year.
Spending a whole week there is awesome!

See, even the non-Z people say you should go to ZDayZ! :roflpuke2:
You and your buddies should go to ZDayZ next year.
The ZDayZ crowd is very accepting of non Nissan/Infiniti cars.
We are all up there to have an awesome time; we don’t give a f what you are driving.
Any one who is actually hateful towards to other car owner don’t last long at ZDayZ.
Now, there might be some playful ball busting.

Might be able to join you guys, depends on how long my trip to visit family up in Chicago and WI takes. I'll get back to you guys on that later!

Dude I'll definitely go next year. I keep wanting to go but my friends keep swaying me into going with them during s2000 week. Maybe I could do both haha.

Keep me in the loop and we'll set a trip up.

LoL stop hating... It's not my fault my "resume" is extensive! BUT, in the spirit of brotherhood, I'll see what I can do.

This is going to look sick after it is painted... Kai, did you check about that special paint? Let me know if you went that route... If not I'll go and get a clear bra for the front and sides...

Voice59 04-17-2015 03:22 PM

Damn that got in quick. What special paint?

bkngo 04-17-2015 03:32 PM

to minimize rock chips...

bkngo 04-17-2015 03:33 PM

It actually doesn't look bad with stock 19s :)

bkngo 04-17-2015 03:56 PM

Alright getting a quote from Superior auto body and detailing. It is a flex additive used to make the paint more pliable and limit damage from rock chips and cracks...

I'm thinking about getting a second set of Rays to try a different tire setup. Are yours still for sale?

Voice59 04-17-2015 06:09 PM

Yeah, I'm selling them for 800 picked up

After I get it repainted... I'm gonna get it clear bra.

bkngo 04-17-2015 06:20 PM

Cool Kai...

Tuner fest in Portsmouth if anyone's down.

Flex agent can severely yellow your paint. Byproduct of trying to get it to be more flexible. That's fiberglass so there really won't be much in the way of flex. If you get enough flex to chip/crack the paint, you'll be looking at bigger problems such as cracked/broken fiberglass. I wouldn't even suggest they add more flex agent. Get it painted and clear bra the front end after the paint has fully cured. This takes about 30-45 days.

Suggestion for when you go to pick it up from the paint shop. Make damn sure the paint matches. My paint guy had a seriously hard time color matching my **** and it isn't even the 40th color. Lots of shops tend to veer into the reds. Mine was yellow and then red after the repaint. You won't get an exact match but make sure you are ok with it before you roll out.

Also check the fitment around the light housings. Push where the tabs are supposed to be and see if it pops in and then back out when you release. That'll tell you if they actually fitted it correctly. Sometimes they start sanding and cutting and it'll create serious gaps that you won't initially notice. Check and make sure your fender liners are tucked and locked in like they're supposed to be and not hanging free.

Also, MAKE SURE THEY FIT THE DAMN THING BEFORE THEY PAINT IT!!!!!

If there are fitment problems you have to contact the vendor before they paint it or it is on you!

3M has a new clear bra product out that is incredibly thin (almost like plastic wrap) that is remarkable in effectiveness. I know a guy with a new GT3 that got it on the entire car. Can't tell it is even on there.

John, I might have you stop by the shop with me before I pick her up. LOL... I am paranoid that I will get a rock chip if I waited 30 days because this is my DD.

Lol. If I'm available I'll join you. But yeah man. That's part of the hell that is modding your dd. I had several rental cars for several days at a time. Sucks. But I think that once you do this you will soon find that you'll want a cheap beater for a daily. Not to beat this again but... Fiberglass. Trust me on this. If you go through the trouble to do all this work, get a dd. Repairing fiberglass, while not the worst thing in the world to do, is still a bitch. Not to say it can't happen on a weekend cruise in the sticks, but it is less likely than typical day to day driving.

bkngo 04-18-2015 05:34 AM

This is my 3rd body kit that I've owned, but the first for my Z. I know the aches and pains of keeping it clean... I won't drop my ride this time (so stressful getting in and out of driveways) and I will get a clear bra this time around.

BTW, I found a good deal on some Volk GTS in phantom black. I think that would look good with the ZL kit.

bkngo 04-18-2015 05:41 AM

Does anyone know of a reputable exhaust shop? I need to weld some SS quad tips to the FI exhaust. I hope it does not change the sound of the exhaust too much...
