I remember when I first learned how to drive standard :driving:

Onelownismo 10-29-2013 10:28 AM

Does anyone know where to go locally to get a roll bar fabbed up?

Tigger 10-29-2013 11:35 AM

good question. I know of a speed shop that specializes in European cars. They do lots of custom work. I'll see if I can find the name of the place and a number. It'll be a hot minute. Don't hold your breathe.

Onelownismo 10-29-2013 11:48 AM

No rush. Trying to save some money right now anyways.

I have a huge list of things I need to do to my car over winter though.

Twin Turbo, Cup kit, Coils, Headlight mod?

Tigger 10-29-2013 04:49 PM

wheels, lsd, springs/shocks, minor body stuff, lights. But only IF the government figures out a budget. Cuz you can't ball on a budget.

:icon18: we in the same boat...

Onelownismo 10-29-2013 07:56 PM

Government paycheck crew checking in. :ugh2:

My list is as follows:

Race Seat(s)
Harnesses
Roll bar/harness bar
CJM Fuel Starvation Control kit (although I think I missed the boat on that one)
Carbotech xp10/xp8 brake pads
Potentially new coil overs but I doubt it

Onelownismo 10-29-2013 07:57 PM

a better LSD would be lovely also but that's not high on the priority list

Onelownismo 10-29-2013 07:57 PM

Oh and brake ducts.....

I got the Stillen brake duct kit on my Z.

Check out my StopTech install thread for pics.
StopTech 4P Front & Rear BBK Install

My winter (when I get home) list.
As it stands right now;

Performance:
Tein Flex Coilovers (already have them just not installed yet)
Tein EDFC Active (just for fun!)
Quaife Diff
Nismo Brace Kit.

Visual:
More than a few parts have a date with ONEighty.

Ryguy 10-29-2013 08:38 PM

Damn all thought sound like good ideas. I have most of that stuff on my wish list at Z1 along with about 15 other things. And since I'm going to try to do most of the work myself the bench marks are going to be a SC kit and rims. Most of everything else is going to be little at a time. And I don't think I'm going to do much aesthetics. Maybe some black accents here and there but nothing that will break the bank.

At least you already have one... kinda. I'm a little sick of the open-diff. An open -diff should have never even been considered in a car with 330+ motor. A VLSD should have been standard. Or better. But at least a standard. Oh well. At least I'll get what I want installed (OS Giken, anyone?) without having to do any mods to make it work. Kinda why I bought the base model to begin with. Clean slate.

You're brake setup is beautiful. Someday I may step up to a BBK but oem with the Z1 upgrade kit seems to be doing the job so far.

I'm guessing you track the car?

Voice59 10-30-2013 06:13 AM

For my wish list:

Phantom Cup kit (especially if I stay in VA)
TWM Short Shifter (possibly...doing research on cons)
Minor interior carbon fiber accents
GTR Plenum (if it proves to provide significant gains)
Sway bars (maybe)

and then I think I can call my build done...and move on to the Stingray (fingers crossed).

Tigger 10-30-2013 06:26 AM

I drove a 370 with a short shifter. I usually like them. But I always kept shifting into second when I wanted fourth or I'd miss gears altogether and never get into one. It was a little irritating. On the z I think the normal shifter is just fine. But that's just my opinion.

Voice59 10-30-2013 06:57 AM

I have a short shifter on my TC..... I love it. I had those issues in the beginning, but you just have to get a feel for the car. I'm more concerned about it ******* up syncho rev.

Onelownismo 10-30-2013 10:28 AM

I used to want a short shifter but realized I have no reason for one. I think the only place they benefit you would be at the drag strip.

Ryguy 10-30-2013 10:33 AM

I agree, I think the shifter is short enough stock in my opinion. And like Tigger was saying it sounds like a pain to get used to for such little benefit.

Voice59 10-30-2013 10:46 AM

If I had a different shift knob, then yes it would be short enough. But with the stock shift knob a short shifter would be the perfect throw. It's not really a pain at all. I've made the mistake of 4th to 2nd with my shifter now... so it's not the short shifter causing that. It would probably have happened anyway. I mean to each their own, but it's definitely something that once you have it, you'll apreciate it.

Don't disagree with that.
Especially considering the roads in our area.
That's why I'm not dropping my Z.
Keeping it at factory height even with the new coilovers.

I think I may have seen your car back in April or May at the package store by Norfolk base. Either that or someone else has a black Z with those wheels. That's highly unlikely though. The ONLY other black Z that I've seen other than that one...was running4mayors.

Wasn't me.
Haven't been around NOB in years.
I would be very surprised if another 370Z was running the same rims as me in our area. I'm running Volk Racing G2 Type 2s. They look like TE37s but there are differences like the VR stamp into one of the spokes like standard G2s. The Type 2s are rare and they cost more too. I don't think they make them anymore. Got mine used from another forum user. In the VIR pic I had the center caps removed.

Really..........

I was referring back to when he stalled his car at the light. And there is nothing wrong with a little bit of man love here and there. You forget I was a MM.

If you plan on putting some track time in next season let me know. I plan on going to every event I can afford to go to. I did VIR and Summit Point this past year.

You're probably right. I have the standard G2's. I really wish I got the rears with a little lip on it. Ah well.. Looks like a reason to get new wheels.

Are you guys doing anything this weekend?

Ryguy 10-31-2013 10:07 AM

Busy Friday night and I have a 10am tee time on Saturday. But other than that wherever the wind/3.7L V6 takes me.
