It's do-able with jack stands and so on in a drive way but if you can get it on a lift I would highly recommend it. I helped putting my CBE on at my buddies shop and it was a PITA even on a lift. A couple of the bolts coming off the cats were stuck and required some persuasion to get off. Also the rubber hangers can be difficult sometimes. Also checking clearances is easier on a lift. After a week or so my CBE had to be adjusted because it settled and started rattling on a cross brace.

I do agree with Tigger installing a CBE is one of the easier DIYs but stuck bolts can make it a PITA. Get/borrow an impact wrench and something to cut bolts. Stuck bolts coming off the cats is a normal issue. Also have extra bolts and seals just in case. Some CBE kits require you to use the stock bolts coming off the cats so if you have to cut a bolt it would be good idea to have extras.

FYI if you choose to not DIY it and take it some where it should only take a hour at the most but some places will quote 2 hours. Mine took 50 min even with stuck bolts at my buddies shop.

Oh, I might be able to give you a hand. Not sure at the moment. Hit me up Sunday night!

I have access to plenty of power tools and all, but its the pain of lifting the car to deal with. Worst case scenario I will find somewhere local to do a quick install while I'm grabbing lunch/going to see a movie. Really hoping the non-res exhausted isn't crazy loud.

We'll I have some jack stands, 4 I think.
You're welcome to borrow them.
I do have a jack but I don't think it will fit under a 370Z
I orginally got it for my uhm, "other car". :roflpuke2:

VABAM 06-19-2014 11:14 PM

Don't forget that there is a jack with the spare tire.
Well at least my Z has one.
It might not be the best way to get the car lifted but a least it will work.

It helps to get a larger jack under it. Just be mindful when lowering again. You screw that up and you might really jack your **** up.

Every body is welcome to join us!

wolfesquire 06-21-2014 05:03 AM

I have jacks and ramps, just hoping that is enough for lifting my car. Guessing Sunday/Monday I shall begin pissing off neighbors :D

I dug out my jack and jack stands yesterday.
Also tested out my jack and it will fit under my Z.
How ever my Z is not lowered.

If you need more just let me know!

Onelownismo 06-21-2014 08:38 PM

Ben, the exhaust job will be a lot easier on a lift. That's how I did mine. I wish I could help ya but work is going to eat my life for the next month or so.

Are we all still on for July 12th? I MIGHT be off that day but I can't say for sure.

wolfesquire 06-22-2014 02:31 AM

My dad just reminded me we have a friend who has a lift in his garage (wait wut?) so all is resolved. Thank you guys anyway! So stoked for this exhaust to finally be put on....just before I move to Maryland -_-

As of right now, yes. I was just informed the other day I may have to go to California for work for the week. Supposed to come back on the 11th. I will update everyone if I can't keep the date. May push a week.

Yeah. I leave for a month and y'all realize you have homes and lives outside of your friends here. Douchbags.

So I'll be back on the 10th for sure. So the 12th is still a go.

wolfesquire 06-24-2014 09:12 PM

I work 5pm-6am friday through sunday, but I am off Thursday

We're talking about the 26th right?

Thursday would be better for me too. I'm off this week and already have plans for Saturday.

Thursday works for me too.
Any body got a preference on location?
Wouldn't mind a change in scenery.
Also I'm thinking later in the evening like 7pm.

Jsmith7861 06-26-2014 02:43 AM

We could meet at my side of the water, at Oyster Point. Cool little muffin joint there with coffee and whatnot. For a change of scenery anyways haha.

If you guys decide to meet up at the Dark Side of the water I'm down...

wolfesquire 06-26-2014 07:40 AM

Aromas is at Oyster Point

Jsmith7861 06-26-2014 08:12 AM

So Aromas at 7 then?

Looking at the place online.
Where is a good place to park? :icon14:

Running4Mayor 06-26-2014 10:51 AM

Also they close @8 so we might have to bump it to 6 or pick a different location.

wolfesquire 06-26-2014 11:02 AM

Their is a huge parking lot right next to Aromas, that and spots out front. Lets shoot for 6 so we can grab coffee.

VABAM 06-26-2014 02:10 PM

6 doesn't work for me. :o
For me it has to be 7 or later.

VABAM 06-26-2014 02:18 PM

How bout we move location to a near by Starbucks?
If time is an issue.

VABAM 06-26-2014 02:29 PM

I have 2 Starbucks in mind.
762 J Clyde Morris Blvd, Newport News, VA
or
108 Coliseum Drive, Hampton, VA
Both are open until 10pm.

I'm cool with either place. Assuming we're meeting up at 7.

VABAM 06-26-2014 02:55 PM

7 it is unless some one objects.
I'm thinking the Coliseum Drive one would be better.
More parking.

wolfesquire 06-26-2014 03:43 PM

Okay coliseum at 7!

VABAM 06-26-2014 03:47 PM

Starbucks
108 Coliseum Drive, Hampton, VA
@
7pm

See ya guys there!
