Probably moving to Maryland at the beginning of next month.....worst part is that it will Salisbury....yay for gangs!
In other news, I spent three hours today cleaning my car as it was disgustingly dirty. The amount of door dings and marks made me a sad panda...

Is it really supposed to be that bad? I know a couple alumni from the state university there and they loved it.

It's Maryland, they don't allow you to get "protection" :icon17:
As discussed so much in our MAZOC Firearms thread, Maryland is known for making it EXTREMELY difficult for you to purchase good protection.

I think I may be up for it. I'm on vacation, so Saturday is along ways away so I can't promise at the moment but I am itching to take a drive.

So, after the HFC install, I got the dreaded CEL.

P2098 and P2096, code reader says both 3 different times, under Confirmed, Potential, and Permanent.

P2096 Code Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean Bank 1
P2098 Code Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean Bank 2

I am correct, right? Obv. Post cats, dur. But I wanted to be 186% sure.

VABAM 06-18-2014 06:00 PM

Which HFC are you using?
I don't get CELs with my test pipes but they have the extended O2 senor bungs.
Might need to break in the HFCs and give the ECU time to adjust.

VABAM 06-18-2014 06:07 PM

If the codes persist I would get the car checked out.

Jsmith7861 06-18-2014 08:16 PM

I have Berks, and I had had them on for several hundred miles before it came on. They are used, for approx. 4-5k miles.

They only come on after what seems like several hundred miles driven all at once. I went home this past week and it's around 250 miles and in the last 50 miles it came on, both on the way there and on the way back. I reset it while I was home and it didn't come back on till last night on my way back.

Typically it takes 50+ miles (sometimes into the hundreds) for the emissions system to complete its check-out at which point if it was detecting any issues it will display them. The codes listed are showing just that. It is not as uncommon as you might think. Even with extended O2 bungs you can still get a CEL. Berks are at even greater risk for a CEL just by design.

Sorry man. Once you start playing with your emissions system you better be ready to pay the price. And if that CEL doesn't clear (and stay cleared) you are going to have to deal with the light and once a year, a month before your inspection, swap your stock cats back in and drive to allow your emissions to complete its check-out and then get your car inspected.

Now do you understand why I still have a stock exhaust?

VABAM 06-18-2014 08:52 PM

Understood, but cat-back changes seem to be much less error-prone. Messing with the cats changes everything. Between the demon bolt and the O2 sensors, it's much more fuss.

I definitely understand, don't think I'm complaining or anything. Just wanted to ask here and make sure, since you guys would know more than I would is all.

I totally get it. Not trying to say you were. Just explaing what you are seeing. Throw your stock cats back on if you believe there is a problem with your vehicle. But i'll tell you right now that the codes you are seeing tells me there isn't a thing wrong with your car. How you want to handle it is up to you. But don't take it to the dealer like that and ask for a check up. They'll see the aftermarket **** and bill you anyway.

Good luck!

wolfesquire 06-19-2014 08:56 PM

So my exhaust finally showed up! Does anyone know how to install this thing? I have monday off if anyone wants to help. I will pay in beer and wings/pizza/whatever

Unbolt the bitch, install new gaskets with the new exhaust, etc. Seriously man, the cat-back is a joke to install. Just get an air ratchet to get those bolts off. If they're seized, cut 'em off. Easy.

oh yeah lol, I'm not retarded haha. I don't mind the code, so long as the fuel trim system doesn't **** up.

It looks pretty easy looking it up online, just don't a lift or anything to lift the car other than two jacks.
