ok this is getting out of hand.. I NEVER SAID PIRELLI WAS BETTER.. i gave a different opnion on a tire that i like... for me pirelli will always be the brand i buy... i also never said the pzero is better than pss.. i just offered a opnion.. they arer all good tires and buying any of them is a good choice... im sorry if some people had bad experiance with pirelli.. but im sorry you can say what you want there is not a VAST difference... even tire rack couldnt say there is a vast difference...

to be fair, the stock bridgestones are one of the worst summer tires you can find. They were terrible in 08, now they are terrible and out-dated

i agree i was happy once my rears were bald and it was time to get rid of them. fronts still had some life so i have em saved just in case i have a blowout and cant get a PSS replacement right away.

They used to.

well then i will correct myself.. you said they are vastly better.. which based on all the charts i have seen they are not.. they are a better tire(for now), but not vastly, only marginly...

F1 tire suppliers is all about who pays the most to be the official supplier. Not about performance.

Pirelli replaced Bridgestone at the start of the 2011 season.

Previously, Bridgestone was the exclusive supplier since 2007.

From 2001-2006 Michelin and Bridgestone were both competing suppliers. Ultimately Michelin pulled out (i.e. F1 decided 1 supplier was better and Bridgestone bid higher).

Bridgestone entered F1 in 1997 and was the exclusive supplier from 98-00.

The last time Pirelli was on a F1 car was 1991.

Drive them and you'll see that it's a vast difference. Like Red__Zed mentioned the breakaway characteristics at the limit are FAR better on the PSS than they are with the PZero. PZero might run a quick lap but it's not going to compete with PSS over multiple.

:p

Yes, I am a motorsport snob/freak.

Excuse Steve, he's on his cycle. Come back in a week and he should be his usual charming self. ;)

well im not saying you are wrong.. but i do find it hard to believe that there is a vast difference.. when professional drivers tested the tires the comparison is close.. not that everyone doesnt value the opnions of all others on this site.. but if the pros say they are close then im gonna have to go with what they say...

again didnt say pirelli is better. i just offered what i like as a option.. but lesson learned i will just keep my opnions to myself....

Don't keep your opinions to yourself. It would be boring if we agreed on everything.
