Hey guys I got my carbon fiber shift knob installed. Its pretty kickass. Also fixed my exhaust rattle today...looks like one of the welds broke loose on the canister connector.

Glad you like it. Curious to see how much of that wear you can buff out. I don't wear rings or anything so none of the marks on it are scratches.

We don't really use meetup anymore. This thread is our main source of info for our meets.

m4a1mustang 02-25-2013 06:32 PM

Yeah we cancelled the Meetup group. We use the forum and Facebook now. I need to edit the OP to remove the Meetup link.

Finally get the damn car back from D&V tomorrow. Took them over a week again for 1 wheel and some really tiny minor stuff. They're slow as hell but they do such a good job.

Yeah I am curious too. Idk how it got like that if you don't wear rings. Do you wear a watch? Sometimes I catch myself resting my wrist on the top of the shifter. I may paint the top black and so the white and red nismo logo on top.

You left handed? If not...why do you wear your watch on your right wrist?

Oh, sorry, I thought you were talking about yourself. Gotcha.

Also, if your hand is resting on the shifter and you aren't keeping 2 hands on the wheel at all times when not shifting, you're wrong anyway :-p

Its most likely dust, dirt or debris in the air, it gets caught under your hand, without you realizing it, and as your using the knob, you scratch it.. The dust will actually cause it..

Ever wonder how your CDs get scratched inside your CD player, its the dust that gets inside the radio, and it gets on the rollers that slide your cd player into place.. causing hair line scratches. Its true. I learned about it when I worked at Best Buy.

I really do like that TK knob though. It's heavy and I don't miss gears when I shift quickly anymore.

Missing gears is a driver error not a shift knob error lol

dmhenderson 02-26-2013 11:17 AM

Did I ever say it was the shift knob's fault? The little carbon "stick" nismo knob was light and made it easy for me to miss when shifting rapidly because I have big hands and the cylindrical shape made it hard for me to get a good grip on it leading to misses now and then esp in the middle of the gearbox.

The new knob is heavier and fits in the palm of my hand which makes my life easier.

lol just busting balls here dm, it's a fair assumption to make if you claim you are no longer missing gears due to your new knob

easy on the trans, slamming gear is not healthy!

This company named Schneider Electric in Columbia. It's like 3 miles from our meet location. They aren't an oil company, but they are in the oil industry and the oil companies are their clients.
