Better to catch it on a quick drive around the neighborhood, than on the 35ish mile drive to the Columbia meet on Saturday, right? :)

Also, better now than say, 2 days before a track event :-p

eastwest2300 01-11-2013 06:03 AM

That sucks man.

Cristobal09 01-11-2013 06:29 AM

So I got a new toy last night....

2013 Veloster Turbo w/ultimate package. My new DD.

Got an outstanding deal on it after having 3 dealerships compete for my business.

Funny thing, driving home on route 1 in woodbridge, I had a civic try to race me...:shakes head: I feel like a 17 year old all over again! :ughdance:

The (+)

fun to drive (not near as fun as the z, but for a FWD its pretty epic
Great gas mileage
cheap to maintain
Great sound system (beats the Z's bose system pretty bad)
panoramic sunroof (not that I needed it)
The 1 door on the driver side, 2 on the passenger side
takes regular gas
I can remote start, lock the doors, unlock the doors, pull codes, get diagnostics through a bluelink app on my phone, pretty epic

The (-)
Absolutely shitty all seasons - These kumho Solus tires are garbage. You can actually get the package to get, no joke, Michelin PSS's. (1200 dollar option)
The insurance is expensive, more so than the Z

Its not STI like al got (im not a "bawwws" like him!), or an s2k like steve has, but for a second vehicle for commuting this should get the job done I think. Sorry for the shitty quality pics.

MyKindaGuise 01-11-2013 06:58 AM

Masa 01-11-2013 07:12 AM

I'll take you in my Altima... pink slips!

dmhenderson 01-11-2013 07:17 AM

There's a 1990 ford bronco fs in my neighborhood for like $2k. I keep slowing down every time I pass it. If it runs, It'd be really tempting.

Hell no LOL

This thing is slow.

I was looking at a GTI, but our fearless leader led me in the right direction towards a Veloster as a DD. So I need to thank Steve for veering me in the right direction!

chieuxuan 01-11-2013 07:35 AM

I thought about the Veloster last year before I bought the Z, well, that didn't happen

eastwest2300 01-11-2013 07:39 AM

Congrats Chris, its cute.

Cristobal09 01-11-2013 07:39 AM

The Veloster is no Z. Its not a sport cars by any means. I just wanted a FWD car that is good on gas and takes regular and wasnt an econobox. Now I can keep the Z in the garage more often.

I would have totally gotten a GTI over a Veloster, but it's not a bad car. Congrats

eastwest2300 01-11-2013 08:28 AM

Isnt the GTI made by VW?

Yes.

If I was spending any sort of money like that though it would be a used 325i or a used s4 or an is350.

eastwest2300 01-11-2013 08:31 AM

I am sooo not a VW fan, all their cars look plan as hell...seriously.

To each their own, but the GTI has one of the nicest interiors for the price, and it is incredibly fun to drive. It's one of my favorite cars on the market. And the Golf R is that turned up to 11.

But I understand people have their automotive biases. I do as well.

Masa 01-11-2013 08:35 AM

I personally would get the Golf R if it was priced a bit lower.

Gotta agree with Shado too, the interiors in VW's are some of the best in the segment. Dash stroking FTW!!!!

Well yeah but I wasnt looking to pay 32 grand. When I buy cars I get them fully loaded. I was not going to pay 32OTD for an autobahn GTI. Is the GTI nicer? I test drove one and yes it was. I drove the snot out of the GTI annd it handled fine but had 200lbs on the V and the same performance numbers. In a straight line, they were about the same. It did have a dual clutch tranny though.

But I wasnt looking for performance. Just a cheap DD.

But thank you.

The Golf r super nice. But IMO overpriced. The markup on them is insane. But their interiors are super high class. As are Audi's obviously.

Masa 01-11-2013 08:39 AM

I miss my GTI sometimes - but then I remember all the electrical problems it had and rage all over again lol.

eastwest2300 01-11-2013 08:40 AM

I guess I gotta see the interior, I wouldnt know, I just dont like any VWs, thats just me though.

Cristobal09 01-11-2013 08:41 AM

Hell I miss my Benz. But as ive said 5650 times. If a GPS just shuts off on me while im lost on florida avenue at 1 in the morning in DC

It can rot in hell.

lol not my fault :bowrofl: I never do. I generally don't need all the whistles and baubles. but again, to each their own. I'd have been looking at a GTI in the mid-20s range with the plaid cloth seats :yum:

My brother got his Golf R for 34.5 OTD because we caught the dealership with their pants down.
