So Al, did you ever get to test drive a cts-v ? ;)

What cars did you test drive? What made you choose the sti over the other cars you previously wanted to test?

I forget, you got rid of the mazda right?

I'm selling the Mazda before I pick up the Scooby.

I tested a little bit of everything.

I didn't get to test a CTS-V, but it was out of my price range anyway. And I was concerned about cost of insurance and gas with that.

I nearly bought a Z06. I test drove two of those. Had I found the right deal, I might have bought one. I love the way they drive. So much performance for the dollar. But alas, I have a labrador and a need to travel in winter.

I drove a Focus ST and a Mazdaspeed3, but I decided I wanted to go upscale with an AWD hatch.

I have also driven the VW Golf R, and I really liked it, but I'm not sold on cost of maintenance on German vehicles past warranty. The STI is quicker stock, but the R can be chipped to be very fast.

And I tested the Mustang GT. Almost bought one or a Boss, but again, AWD in snow was a deciding factor here.

The WRX is just so versatile. 300hp, .95 on skidpad, room for 4 adults, cargo space, 6mt available with short-throw, AWD... Total package.

Roadster4Us 10-26-2012 08:32 AM

Very nice Al, congrats Buddy.

Yeah, the cts-v is quite horrible on gas. Im on cadillacforums.com and in a crowded place like MD/NOVA, and driving conservatively, people are averaging 12mpg.....:ugh2:but I dont care since I work from home 100% of the time so this will just be a toy more or less.

The cts-v coupe is also extremely high insurance.

I really thought you were going to go with the 5.0.

Well, if I had, I'd have wished I bought the Vette. Everything I liked about driving the Stang, I liked about the Vette better. If I was going with RWD impracticality, I'd have gone whole hog. But there is a lot to like about the WRX. It's worlds more practical than both of the other cars, and it's still fairly quick.

m4a1mustang 10-26-2012 09:12 AM

STI is very practical. Everything but fuel econ. Slap some winter tires on it and make snow your bitch!

:iagree::iagree::iagree:

Wait a minute, arent you selling your Honda?

m4a1mustang 10-27-2012 09:27 PM

Yeah I will sell it at some point. It's probably not going to sell til spring... I wouldn't expect a roadster to sell going into winter here. IDK. I'll list it soon and see what happens.

But until then I'm still having fun driving it.
