I hope they can get it fixed quickly!

BTW guys, just an FYI, be careful around Fairfax. Saw my first unmarked 2010 Camaro SS Fairfax County PD car today. It was responding to an accident along with an unmarked current-generation BMW 335i Sedan.

loooolz, i had it topped off this time.

anyways, thank you everyone for your concern, i made it back safely to virginia in a Cube :ugh2:... i still don't know what the problem is, but i will keep you guys updated...

what started the problem is, i was going up a ramp revving hard from second to third, and before i hit red line it got cut off, and i couldn't speed up, but the RPM held up. thought it might be fuel starvation, so i turned the car off after i managed to reach home (5 min away)... and i let it sit for 2 hours, when i left home, it seemed fine, but then on the highway it started again and the gas kept cutting off... anyways i should get a call tomorrow and let everyone know..

take care everyone, i got a gtr waiting for me out side :driving:

The two richest counties in the United States are Loudon County (No. 1) and Fairfax County (No. 2).

tooohip 11-12-2010 08:03 AM

Howard Co. #3... Not that I contribute to that statistic. ;-) I knew there was a reason, I hated all those Starbuck Latte drinking Fairfax homos! I say that with love.

Nissan called me back, aparantly I sucked a plastic bag and it blocked the airflow, so I was told I have change both intakes, and possibly the mas airflow sensor...which is not coveted under warenty a d will cost me around $1100 to fix. I'm getting a second opinion and possibly taking the car to aam or another nissan dealership ... anyways ill keep u guys updated.

Also most likely I will miss the MD meet :(

Wow that sucks. I pulled a plastic bag into my grill once. I didn't think it could do anything THAT drastic! sorry to hear that, bro.

Ouch!!!

Dude, if you have air filters on the car all you should have to do is remove the plastic bag and you should be fine...

tooohip 11-12-2010 10:31 AM

Yeah no ****... Change intakes because of a bag? LOL!

Yeah, it should be as simple as opening the filter box, removing the obstruction, and then possibly unplugging the battery for a little bit to reset the ECU.

Unless you don't have any air filters in the car and/or the bag somehow melted, you shouldn't have to change any part!

s0ftimage 11-12-2010 10:43 AM

i am not a big fan of mechanics.
they try to rip you off.

if you find one that is honest,
stick to that one until the perception changes.

I didn't do anything to her. Don't know where she disappeared to. I've felt safer lately because of that, but I miss her too.

It's possible. I mean, I may have worn a short sleeve shirt and flexed the guns accidentally. Sometimes I don't know my own power.

:bowrofl::bowrofl::bowrofl:

It's getting deep in here, no?

s0ftimage 11-12-2010 11:17 AM

So Nissan took the plastic bag out of the filter box and is trying to tell you the car needs to have the intakes and possibly the mass air flow sensor replaced?

If the bag was blocking air flow, removing the bag should solve the problem. I don't understand why they say it needs new parts. As long as the bag is out of the way the car should run just fine?

tooohip 11-12-2010 12:35 PM

Hell if they took the bag out, I'd drive it to AAM. ;-)

pfregeolle 11-12-2010 03:55 PM

My questions is how the hell did a BAG get stuck in the airbox? Hahaha

ZCarMan 11-12-2010 04:01 PM

This is all very perplexing to me.

Greetings & Salutations All.......

....not sure what time zone I'm in, but I think I'm actually home this weekend....... Sorry for the long delay -- haven't really had much time to even "lurk" the forum to see what everyone has been up to...

BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: I'm probably gonna miss tomorrow's get together although looks like it is going to be a great weather day!

EXCUSE FOLLOWS: We're trying to get ready for our trip to Europe next week (this one is pleasure not work) and as much as I'd like to get out and see you guys, I'm going to have to defer to getting my crap together for our trip -- THAT SAID, hope everyone is doing well (and generally behaving.....) -- at this point it looks like it will be just a little before Christmas before I have a "free weekend" again as I'm barely back from France/Germany before I head back out to the "Land of Not Quite Right" (said with affection) the first week of December.

I feel bad -- as I got back from the airport yesterday, I walked past the ZR and she looked "neglected" -- not to mention the layer of fall dust that has covered her over the last three weeks.......hopefully will get a chance to wash her and put the cover on before we hit the road again.

Sorry for the long diatribe -- will try to do a better job of keeping up with the group. Is it time for Fontana yet......?

Later Ya'll
Steve (the other one....)

shadoquad 11-12-2010 06:57 PM

(Actual Z Owner) Steve,

It's great to hear from you!!! Too bad you can't come tomorrow, but I completely understand. Glad that things are going well. Hope you and beaujolais enjoy Europe!

ZCarMan 11-12-2010 07:18 PM

Pat and I were just asking about you Steve. We figured you would be getting ready for your trip to Europe soon. Don't worry about us, we'll behave (mostly) and we'll keep the light on for your return!
