Yeah, that was a bit of a haul down to Williamsburg. Fair amount of traffic too that early in the morning.

:iagree:

It's like 3.5 hrs for me. If it was somewhere like Fairfax, I might go. Also, I'm working this Saturday so I can't make it to the VA meet :(

For me it wasn't the distance or the traffic, it was that infernal sun hitting right into my eyes as we drove the last part into Williamsburg. I think they had 125 cars at the last C&C so I wanted to get a look at some of the other rides as well, plus it is free.

Good idea get with Tony, he is coming down hoping his car is out of the shop!

BTW, we are going to go to one of your meets before ZdayZ since some of you guys supported our event last year.

We are expecting the same amount or more!

Yeah, the small remaining brain left inside helped me make a wise financial decision:rofl2:

I'm just waiting for a 2012 Mustang. Maybe I'll get a Boss!

If I had one my tags would be "BOSSOFU"

You know nothing about the red key until you drive the red car!

I give the Boss a few months before police are checking to see if you run the red key. They'll even be checking on non-boss models:shakes head:

FWIW I read somewhere that the Red Key was actually emissions legal, so that's not a worry.

Doesn't it change quite a few parameters in the car? (i.e. ignition timing, launch control, rev limiter, etc)

m4a1mustang 03-16-2011 11:14 AM

BTW Dan... check out the new 5.0 tunes...

It changes 200 different things.

Sort of. It switches the car into the "race" tune, enables launch control, etc.

It likely is, but it's not tested, so you'd be due for a new inspection if you changed it. Plus most cops are just going to assume it's illegal. It's just something easy and new to write a ticket for.

Well, you won't have an issue if you carry both keys.

Probably not. You never know man.

I've had officers not care about my s2000 (which was pretty much illegal in every way it could be, except it wouldn't serve alcohol to minors), and was ticketed more than once for "suspension modification" when I had LCA's and Koni yellows on my mostly stock Civic. If word of the "red key" gets around, there will be certain officers that will harass people for it.

b1adesofcha0s 03-16-2011 11:30 AM

You'd have to run into an officer that knows of it's existence though.

Red Key means one thing for officers and the state of VA. It's the color Green.

I've had officers harrass me just because my car is blue. :icon14: (or so it feels, at least)

Word gets around. There's been so much media hype about the "red key" that people will have heard of it. And the media has portrayed it as a "race key".

Bingo. Same thing when they ticketed for "cut springs" whenever you lower a car....

Might it have been because the lights on your car were blue:roflpuke2:

;) That happened twice. I sorta pissed off the 2nd officer since I already knew the cost of the ticket and I told him to hurry up since it's just a $93 fine. He told me he was going to write the ticket this time so I HAD to go to court......he didn't. And I made sure to turn my landing strips and Angel Eyes on and asked him to look at those and tell me if they were illegal, too. He looked....came back and told me to take the damn things off. Then he laid rubber as he left.

I would probably pull your car over too, but mostly just to check it out.

:icon18: Funny you say that. The first officer was a young female cop. After taking my license and registration she sorta hesitated before going back to her cruiser and said:

"Is that the GReddy exhaust?"

I was like  Whoa! What do we have here?? After all was said and done, yes she did issue the ticket, her and the other officer that was with her were outside (well after midnight, mind you) with their flashlights shining down into my hood. She wanted to see what was under the hood! That was so cool!!

That's pretty cool. You should have offered her a ride in exchange for not writing the ticket. Of course that could have lead to other problems
