Hey Girls, what's cooking...!!!

So y'all planning a MD (KC) meet tomorrow, I might come :)

Sorry I've not been on for weeks, you know how it goes with work and stuff.

And my Hard Drive Raid took a nose dive, so I've been waiting for new hard drives.
Good job I do backups LOL.

Since it's a high-end gaming rig I went with Raid 0 (striped) for speed, and lost one drive.
So this time I'm going with Raid 1 (mirrored), so I don't lose anything LOL.

I had 10,000 rpm Velociraptors, but can't afford to replace those right now,
so going to just do a 1Tb mirrored raid.

Anyway, enough geek talk HaHa, so who's up for tomorrow?

shadoquad 12-30-2010 09:24 AM

I'm not, unfortunately. I have to run some errands and get the car worked on.

tooohip 12-30-2010 01:01 PM

Actually instead of KC, this spot was suggested which I think is a great idea. This is the address for the Target and the lot is huge with restaurants and coffee nearby.

6111 Dobbin Rd Columbia, MD 21045

Tomorrow sounds like it might be a no-go, but the next MD meet should be here IMHO.

Looks like a nice spot!

mmm Chipotle is right across the street from there! Been a while since I've been to that shopping area, anyone know what ever took compusa's spot?

Sooo no meet tomorrow then?

shadoquad 12-30-2010 01:21 PM

I can't come, but what about Lance, Kirk, and Darren?

tooohip 12-30-2010 01:22 PM

Yeah, I won't make tomorrow it looks like. I don't think anything is in that CompUSA spot. I actually drove up there a couple years ago to get something. I was like, wow nobody is here, then walked up to the front door and saw chains, LOL!

4r3s 12-30-2010 01:41 PM

scrap it, not worth trying to get it together this late in the game. See you all next year! Hope everyone has a happy and safe new years eve!

shadoquad 12-30-2010 01:52 PM

You, too, Andrew

VaGntlmn 12-31-2010 01:30 PM

okay, I need an education - why lower a car?
What are the advantages?

Looks, lower center of gravity, better cornering...
what else?

In addition, how much would it cost to lower a 370 an inch or so?

Thanks

tooohip 12-31-2010 02:05 PM

Bill,

Looks and performance for me. You can just get a set of lowering springs if you just want the looks or go with a coilover setup for more handling performance. Cost can vary depending on your approach, but plan on a few hundred for the lowering springs to a thousand and up for coilovers.

For me it is all about the performance, the fact that it looks better is just a side effect. That and the stock Roadster suspension had some bad habits when pushed to the limits on anything less than perfect asphalt...

New Suspension is :yum::yum:

:iagree: I put 2K ish into mine but I trusted Scott to know what he was doing with the setup as his track record is pretty well proven...

Good to see you still live... Figured the new GF had taken away your forum privileges.

Re: Lowering the car
Thank you for the responses and the information, I really appreciate it.
I'm afraid I'm not ready to do the coilovers, but I think I'll look into the lowering springs.

Look very seriously at the swift springs for doing so. I have heard that they are the bomb for lowering. Much better than anyone else out there as far as performance goes.

Here is a good review on the springs.

Swift spring review

Hey, all! Happy New Year! Question: is this weekend a MD or VA meet? I'm hoping to make it either way. Just want to know where it's at (I got two turntables and a microphone).

s0ftimage 01-03-2011 11:48 AM

Happy New Year everyone!

Al, what are the turntables for, are you going to spin?

srsly. NBC has horrible hockey coverage. The commentary and camera work were horrible. Then add in the bad weather reports...

It was a tough game for both teams. I wouldn't want anyone playing in those conditions, but I guess there was too much money/PR at stake to postpone.

I'm glad the Caps won, but it wasn't really NHL hockey at its best. People were falling left and right. No opportunity for great stick handling or skating. Just dump the puck and scramble at the net.

Yeah, I usually cringe when the NHL is on NBC. Absolutely terrible.

In the end, it's just another reg. season game with 2 points going to the winner. Officially at the halfway point of the regular season now. I cannot believe Bruce Boudreau said this: "This is as close to the Stanley Cup as we've gotten and we're not denying that it was more than just two points."

It's comments like that which make me laugh hysterically at that organization.

tooohip 01-03-2011 02:40 PM

Lol!

ZCarMan 01-03-2011 02:48 PM

Lets split the difference and meet in Anacostia. I hear they have some nice open parking lots there. Just bring some Kevlar and Yo Glock!

m4a1mustang 01-03-2011 02:54 PM

I started this mess, so the 1st one of the year will be in Fairfax!

Bring a cardigan, it might get chilly.

If a flak jacket and sidearm are necessary to meet up, count me out. Didn't realize we were meeting up in Bin Laden's backyard!

I'll see if a friends dad who is a 3 star general in the Army can hook me up with a Stryker vehicle, then I'll consider it :bowrofl:

There's only a 30% chance of snow showers this weekend. Whamp whamp whammmmp :stirthepot:

m4a1mustang 01-03-2011 03:08 PM
