I'm picking up what Shasha is offering for blanket and wrap.

My SpecialtyZ kit came in a little before X-Mass but i never had the chance to look at it until now.

Here is a crappy phone pic. It's a nice looking kits. It comes with everything except instructions with pictures. I found DJTodd's diy so I think I'm okay. The only question is which side of the 6 puck faces the flywheel (front of car)

I'm an aviation electrician, re-wired jets, jet engines, ect., & of-course cars, & gauges. We call those instruments & no worries, my instructors are NASA. I'll do the wiring if you need a hand; I'm in Texas though. Best of luck.

Great build here! Good choice on the clutch - I love mine

And I agree with jwick - I hope you got the titanium stuff. Its much more pliable and easier to work with than the stiff fiberglass DEI stuff (even if you wet it). It also doesn't smell during the first few heat cycles, unlike the regular stuff.

My good guess is that Shasha is offering the DEI titanium as it can withstand 2k f of heat. The fiberglass ones only go up to 1500 I believe. Shasha posted this in his V2 thread, "A 2000*F turbo blanket would be around $70 and 60' of 2" wrap would be about $50."

Boost Lee, your name friggin ROCKS! I cracked up when I first read it way way back when. It's still funny.

In a few days, I'll drop by Jtranz to have my Z1 motor mounts installed. I hope he has the time to install mine. I DD my car so I'm hoping I can have my car back a hour or so after giving them my keys. I'm thinking of bringing some food to help the workers along. A happy worker is a good worker.

I did the rear diff bushing replacement and let me tell you it was a WHORE. I used an air chisel for roughly 3hours and then gave up on that. My brother used a cutting torch to get it out..... And the air chisel.... God they are loud.

My plan of attack for the differential bushing is to drill, cut, then find a rock steady place between the rear bushing and a rock steady place to wedge the 3 ton bottle jack between.

I stopped by the local car shop and they were able to squeeze me in to have my Z1 motor mounts install. The car vibrates a little bit more but nothing outrageous. It took Ron about 3 hrs to install them. During the install, he found a few bolts and clips that were missing and replaced some of the ones he had on hand. Kudos to him.

HOLY COW was what I said when I saw the size of the oem MM. They are huge! Here is a picture of 1 of them in the box the same box that snugly fits 2 Z1 MM's laying parallel side by side.



SpecialtyZ so far have been easy to work with. I had a few questions regarding there clutch and flywheel after Chuck had a problem with his. The 6puck were not perfectly flat and I was concerned on it prematurely break down. Seb was quick to reply to my concern and told me that everything was ok.

As you can see in the pics, the unit looks well made other than the fact that some of the "pucks" are not 100% aligned with the others. I was able to easily slide a business card under 2 of the pucks with minimal friction. Again, Seb assured me that everything is within working specs.

Here are the pictures of the plate on my turntable record platter which I know for a fact are 100% flat and stable.

This puck is completely flat.

In this picture, I'm pointing out 2 simi-circle imprints that I found on one of the pads. I suspect this is caused by one of the recessed holes where the 4 flywheel pad thingies are are secured.

I hope it warms up some so I can tackle this install and rear differential cover swap.

Yes I did. He told me about your install. He said that my set was different form yours so he was not sure on functionality. He also told me that he know the people that make this clutch and flywheel personally. He or should I say they are cool guys. I bought us some pizza for lunch to eat as I waited during my MM install.

Ron told me to get my car up as high as possible to do drop transmission. He told me that me it's just easier with more headroom. He suggest the tall jack stands. I told him I only have the regular ones. He cringed.. lol. I hope the install is not too bad.

I think we ended up with the same clutch. The busted one was the full face one.

What I don't quite understand is how come the ones with less surface area is rated for higher hp/tq. I would think more surface area = more contact and friction = being able to handle more load. Anyhoo, IF we have the same type, I sure hope they last a good long time.

My doorbell just rang and I got another piece of the puzzle. The oil pump is here. I thought this thing was a lot bigger from the pics posted by other people but nope. It's about the size of a large sport drink bottle.

The pump came in a nice little package. Everything was put stuffed in a box, inside a sealed foam bag with packing peanuts around the bag. I was impressed that the pump was shipped inside a completely air tight and sealed foam bag. Who would of thought a piece of metal would be so well packaged. I guess that's the price for a $400 pump (I think).



I put a lip balm stick on the pump for size reference.
