Megan Ver. 2 Journal
Welcome into Megan Ver. 2 Journal.
As you may already know, Megan is the name of this sweet looking 370z. The Version 2 of her Journal should have started when she got an heart attack on August 19th 2012. She needed a heart transplant to survive. Since I already had one from her cousin 350z 2007 on standby, this was the moment to get the big swap going. The goal at that time was to swap the HR engine with the VHR crank/rods and some big *** cams !! and of course the 6 speed transmission because Megan came with a 7AT that wasn't up to the task I was getting in to but it was a very nice tranny to use !! The engine/tranny swap was done between November 2012 to April 2013. I couldn't get on the track in 2013 to test the new setup due to some ex-wife issue and debts ! which I had to cancel a few events ;/ Then I put my mind to set 2014 as a new year to start setting up the car like I first wanted in 2009 after the car was finally paid off ! The new project started at the end of 2013. I was capable to work on it which I didn't exactly planned and expected to last this long ! It was time to learn on how to make parts with Carbon Fiber & Kevlar - My first part was a rear bumper over lay for a center exhaust single exit * Click Me * - After this I knew a little bit more and I could start on the real project. To look at the aero & bodykit progression . look up in this Album * Click Me * Fast Forward to July 2014 The project has been relatively slow in the past several weeks due to my upcoming move to another city for my job and then a terrible ankle injuries which is stopping my capability to go safely on the track. I am currently trying to make the car back together and finishing up some stuff on her before the actual move. There is a ton of work left on her as well as on the trailer then the house !! so enough with the writing , this is where the project is at this point. http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...me-i-think.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...me-i-think.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...oor-anyway.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...r-city-job.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...e-diffuser.jpg |

OHHHHHH, this is your car on FB?!?!?! I added you!
Amazing work BTW |
Hell yha dude. That looks sweet, nothing more sexy than a home made race car with custom aero. I bet you can hardly wait to let her rip!

thanks , hell yeah, I wish I could !!! Its been way too long and today I had to take a decision to just store Megan in the trailer until I move in a week. Because I need to start packing/cleaning the garage then the house. I should be able to start working back on her around July 18-20th. |
your aero set up inspired me to revisit and finish my rear diffuser.

2013 was a nightmare
2014 is now putting me in Hell... as a few saw in my older thread about my ankle injury. it is now a very serious one. We received the report of the MRI and it showed 1 broken bone , 1 bone fracture , 2 ligaments 100% cut . 1x ligament that is about to fail completely 75% cut. and we now suspect another ligament/tendon/bone cut & fracture on the tibia. which was not scanned by the MRI & X-ray ... so they put me into a cast and now waiting for a call about surgery. It seem like no track time at all in 2014 ! I still wish to finish the body work (Ver.1) by the end of September for the last Time Attack event of CSCS.ca Not driving but showing off with the Z as its gonna be the most attended event in Canada as it include Drag/Drift/show n shirne/ Time Attack |
Damn.
|
Dude....that sucks hard! I feel for ya bro, heal up fast!!!
|

Megan nice work on the CF. Sorry to hear the ankle is worse than you originally thought.
|
Do you have a thread anywhere with info about the diffuser? Construction, mounting, etc. Looks really impressive

I'm looking to make it out of Alluminium & CF for the real one. 51''wide by 40-45'' long * I cant remember* which you need a very aggressive offset , the second version will probably just be 48'' wide instead. those 2 holes you see on the picture is of course for the spring bucket clearance that I was supposed to patch in the future. the lower part of the aluminum beam had to be cut and some other place under the Z for clearance. I will continue with the rear section this weekend since I haven't finished the left side. I finished unpacking the trailer to my new place yesterday. |

Crazy work! |

Click the link below !!! For Sale ; part out of Major to odds item. |
I was sick the last couple days which prevented me to do more work than I expected to do.
oh well,,, atleast every left side Ver1 body parts has been made now. some fitting work still remain but I am getting close to a somewhat finish setup :yum: I ran out of Blue CF/Kelvar so they are all black twill 2x2 finish until my budget allow for more blue stuff ! hehe http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...ure81004-a.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...rter-panel.jpg |
Whos going for a ride with Megan tomorrow ?
I guess that would be me !!! but there is just a slight problem .. hehe I must install those aerocatch first because the oem latch and bracket is all gone and then bolt down the front bumper. My previous splitter is installed temporally until I start making the new version. The old one did look quite big in the pass but this time, not so much as its not wide enough !!! only 74'' It was dark when I finished cutting the front bumper and riveting down the bumper overlay so I didn't had the chance really to stop and take pictures ... they will be taken sometimes tomorrow :yum: |
Have fun! :driving:

The time as come to finish the Ver 1.0 of my Aero body kit
It took me 7 months to get this result. Could it been better ? Maybe but doing a project like this when you never did anything close to this, it cannot be perfect ! It was the first time working with Carbon fiber and some Hybrid CF/Kevlar. Making moulds to make sure I can replicate any parts if I do crash and break them. It has been quite expensive experience and this is mostly why I did it. I got asked today on this subject about why doing this to a 370z. First of, it is my track toy which I own and fully paid off. and then ofcourse like I said, some experience in that aera. I made a facebook page not that long ago called One Man Team Motorsport. Someone in my Team has to be able to do body work !! ;) I'm sure the pictures will get passed along which I hope ! There will always be some bad comments but for my goal, I don't care ! anyways here they are ! Megan Aero Kit Ver 1.0 Did I mentioned in the pass about her *** will look mean ? How about this !! http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...807-144202.jpg Like I said its the Aero kit that is finish , not the splitter because that's mine from 2011/2012, thanks. http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...807-144234.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...807-144241.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...807-144157.jpg I just finish a 7 hours drive with the Z and everything is holding ! :) the diffuser fins are about 2 1/2'' front the ground .. a slight modification of them will be perform soon ... http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...807-144216.jpg |
Badassss!!!!!
|
This is amazing!
|
I can't believe the Borden MP's let you drive around the base without hassling you... lol

But I do expect to get pull over if they end up seeing me. It would pass safety no problem as far as emission, I haven't changed my address so there isn't any Emission testing where I was before. |
looks great dude!!!... in my personal opinion... an stillen modified front bumper with spplitter and some canards have to be fcking awesome  NICE WORK!!!

Did you have any issues with the VQ35HR + VQ37VHR crank w/ big cams? My motor was recently assembled (35HR w/ VQ37 crank) and GTM stage 2 turbo cams (272's) and the valves are making contact with the pistons when trying to rotate it.
Granted there's a lot more back story behind the motor that I won't bother with at the moment, but did you have any issues getting your engine combination of the swap + tall cams to work. What cams did you go with? What pistons did go with and any custom specs/mods done? |
Quote:
giving a short answer. Vhr crank/ vhr rod / hr piston .. some grinding on the piston because some hit the piston oil jets and a couple piston touch the crank .. im talking about 1-2mm of grinding... If you would have followed my previous journal... I didnt went with the cams .. due to some 0ersonnal issue . One of the bigest was the wife leaving and having a bunch of debts... now things changed and will see later on what im doing N/a or turbo. |
Splitter Update !
A week after my road trip with the new aero kit, I had the motivation to start on the new splitter project.
After quite a bit of research and different idea on what I had in mind when I did the front bumper overlay. The splitter project is finally taking form!!! Splitter 2011/2012 Vs 2014 , We thought my first one was big at 73'' wide ?? The 2014 one is 84'' wide ! http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...816-103648.jpg Making sure the bumper fit properly with the new splitter shape. It was fitted together first on the Z before this picture. http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...816-104050.jpg Template screwed down to make a copy ! Yup you got it. I will be able to make duplicated faster. This is just One part of the splitter since its gonna be a 2 parts splitter which doesn't include some more aero part that will be fitted on top later on. http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...816-165552.jpg This picture is just to show how the old splitter was with the stock front bumper. http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...5-img-1736.jpg Last, the old splitter with the aero wide bodykit. http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...807-144234.jpg |
How deep under the car does the new one go? Does it completely replace the undertray (and re-use mounts?)
|
Quote:
As for the mount you are talking about, no ! hehe there will still only be 6 link holding it, 4 to the frame and the 2 normal front one ... On the picture below, if you look at the rear of the new splitter, you will see 3 slots cut into it, the middle one is the front jacking point if I endup using this instead of my new side mount by the door for what ever reason. The 2 slots on either side are for the jack stand. http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...816-103648.jpg |
nice work dude!!!
|
You're going to kill a lot of Borden squirrels with that flying blade... :rofl2:
|
That is so awesome:tup:

New bumper beam completed!
It wasn't easy to weld some aluminum tubing to a 3/8 plate with only 120amp ! Because if I was using more Amp. the breaker would pop ;/ I got to find an adapter 120V to 220V. The old bumper beam was taking to much space and who really need a bumper in Time Attack anyway ??? You can also see the new splitter is now finish and riveted to the bumper which will have some quick release assembly for easy mounting ! It should be completed tomorrow *cross finger* http://www.the370z.com/members/megan...906-174245.jpg |
What is the secret behind moving the radiator Like you did? Are you going to give your hood some buck teeth for lower under hood temps?
|
Quote:
in the very beginning when I titled the radiator it was to make a closed vent ducting from the bumper thru the radiator and exit into a modded hood. the other related project was boxing up the intake filters tube to work as a ram effect on top of the radiator box but as time goes I am ditching the N/A solution for F/I. I'm currently waiting for some funds to go forward on this. I contacted a vendor here to work out on a deal for a bunch of stuff that he was originally interested but hasn't replied for a while now so I also need to look for another good vendor. |
