ilive2win's 370z project

sold!

well, i sold my evo x the morning of 8/18/09 and went ahead to the nissan dealership and picked up a MB 370z the afternoon of 8/18/09. stock for stock, the 370z felt a lot smoother and a little more powerfull than the evo, but the evo was built, so anything feels sluggish after getting into it. i do love the 370z and how it feels and is much sexier than the evo x imo.
well in this thread im going to post everything and anything i do to the 370z as i did with the evo in other forums. ill start by posting some evo x pix first...

sorry for the bad pix, i took them really fast after i picker her up and did a 10 min edit job to make them look descent.

today 8/21/09 i took the headlights apart and totally blacked them out like my old evo so ill take some pix in the morning and post them asap :stirthepot:

little teaser...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ve2win/004.jpg
again...some really quick photos but at least you get the idea. it was hard to not get glare on the headlights, but these will have to do for now. i didnt want to do anything fancy like led's or extra lighting cuz im going to lighten the car for tracking, just going for an evil look. and sorry for the car being dirty,it just rained here and havent washed her yet. criticism and remarks welcome

so i finally got a call from k&N this morning telling me that the typhoon short ram intakes for the 370z are done and ready to be installed so i took the beast up to riverside and had the intakes installed. she didnt give the the hp or tq gains yet as this kit isnt out yet and i guess they dont want to spoil the surprise. you can def feel a little power gain and sounds great, specially with the hks exhaust. not sure when these will be available to the public yet

GingaBreadMan 08-22-2009 06:45 AM

I Originally wanted a EVO. What made u decide 2 get rid of a tuned EVO and get a 370z instead?

Asheth 08-22-2009 09:03 AM

Looking great! Great Photos! What camera did you use? Nice post processing too.

Looking forward to seeing how the blacked headlights look on MB Z.

tommyguns 08-22-2009 09:51 AM

Congrats, nice choice!

FuszNissan 08-22-2009 10:34 AM

That was one sexy Evo. Good trade IMO

MightyBobo 08-22-2009 10:56 AM

i just got bored with the evo and was tired of dealing with the turbo and lag and "hope i dont over boost one day and not enough the other", she was a pain in the a$$. fast car though.

and the chicky will be taking some pix with the new car as soon as she finds the perfect outfit i guess, according to her.

i use a canon xsi on Tv setting, not the greatest pix like i said before, they were just quick shots, i didnt bring any of my equipment

no but i had been looking at it and it was nice and was priced very nicely i would say.

ilive2win 08-22-2009 12:12 PM

^^^ i would have to agree, thats one reason why i picked her up

ZCarMan 08-22-2009 08:12 PM

Congrats! Great color IMHO. I'll enjoy watching what you do to your new Z.

Shifty0011 08-22-2009 09:49 PM

How did you black out those head lights?

DannyGT 08-22-2009 10:42 PM

Love the wheels on the Evo..hint hint..
http://www.kryptonik.org/therex/The%20Z/8.JPG

ilive2win 08-22-2009 11:37 PM

^^^ i was thinking about putting the same wheels on the z, but they would be the flat black or gun black, we'll see

on the headlights, there is a how to DIY floating around here somewhere, but i have always blacked out my headlights on all my vehicles

what part of jersey are you from danny? i was born and raised in north bergen right by the hudson

Asheth 08-23-2009 12:30 PM

Any progress with the headlights?

I always wanted to go to cali.
Is it a big change from jersey?

ilive2win 08-23-2009 05:37 PM

oh ya, not like culture shock change, but still a pretty big change. its just two different vibes you get from being there and being here. all my family lives there so i go back and visit them all the time

insideoutoreo 08-25-2009 03:03 AM

where are you at in SD?

Shunya 08-25-2009 06:02 AM

So what's planned for the Z?

ilive2win 08-25-2009 11:11 AM

im in spring valley until the end of the year, what about you?

well im going to do full suspension and BBK first, including wheels and tires first for 2 reasons. first i auto x and track at willows a lot and would rather my suspension tuned first ( although the stock suspension feels really good, it could be improved like anything else). second my arc products arent out yet and im waiting on there intakes and exhaust and coolers so by the time im done with suspension and brakes the arc products should be out

Ryan@Forged 08-25-2009 01:05 PM

Nice pickup! Both cars are beautiful. Let me know if you need anything :)

Raised in Elizabeth, then lived in Warren/Watchung area, got married and built my house in Hillside. I'm writing this from Jersey City from one of my client sites...I'm sure I'm close to where you were from.

ya, you are close. i keot moving back and forthe from cali to nj and just seem to like cali much better, but who knows, maybe ill go back out there one day and try it once again.

i was going to ask you if you had to roll any fenders when you got lowered and put your tm02's on? any rubbing issues?

370Ztune 08-25-2009 01:47 PM

Congrats on the sale and the new car

I can't wait to see how you choose to modify this one.

-Hunter

DannyGT 08-25-2009 01:54 PM

The front is very aggressive with 9.5 +22 and there is this metal clamp thing shrouded in plastic that hold the front bumper/quarter panel in place. It will most definitly rub on that if your on coilovers. I completed shaved that piece down and cut a 3" by 10" piece of lining off along the edge of the fender and that resolved everything 100%.

M.Bonanni 08-25-2009 01:58 PM

I think I saw your old Evo X at the JTuned Super Meet earlier in the year. Nice work! Can't wait to see how your 370Z comes out. :)

ilive2win 08-25-2009 02:00 PM

so there is no need for that metal shroud at all? just cut it off? obviously your bumper is still on with no problems. the lining i dont care about, i can just cut that as well for proper fitment

SAllen0400 08-25-2009 02:52 PM

Thanks for posting pics of the black out headlights. I was curious how that looks on a black Z, and will probably be doing it myself over the winter

this time i took the method of a heat gun, not the over because the z lights wouldnt fit in the oven. you just have to be very patient with the lights and make sure they are completly sealed when done. if you have question you can pm me and ill do my best to help you from here
