There are many articles on the pros and cons of magnetic drain plugs. I'm not here to point either out but rather share my experience with these things. Went to SpecialtyZ for a tune and the recommended gear oil change after about a month of installing 4.08 final drive. Since the car was up in the air and it was time for an oil change I went ahead and had them do it. Here's what they discovered.
I've had these Blox magnetic drain plugs for a long time and perhaps should have replaced it sooner. The bottom line is these are soft, they don't last as long as OEM plugs, and perhaps better off using an oil filter magnet if you want to capture metals. The thing was cracked, bent, and stripped. Dude, I need to make sure I keep an eye on mine. SZ did an oil chang on mine about 3 weeks ago so I am guessing it's good to go for now!

Picked up a TWM "Piston" shift knob. Switched out my old Password JDM knob for this. I like the weight, I like how it looks. Was it worth it? Only if you buy the TWM the first time. Other than a WAAAAY better looking knob, it is not much of a significant change on overall experience if you switch over.

CEL's been on intermittently and described to the shop what I saw the first time an image came out from the gauge. Thought it was the cap because of this but code says evap leak.

While up on the rack, we noticed that the gas tank was dented on both sides. The darn tire shop jacked from the tank. The good news -- no cracks, no leaks, just dimpled bottoms. Been having shifting issues. Grinding, notchier than usual, stiffer, inconsistent pedal feel. Manual guys know the feeling. Noticed the fluid in reservoir reduced. Filled it up twice in the last two weeks. More like slave issue but went ahead and replaced everything.
Picked up the ZSpeed kit and got EZ street clutch, flywheel, CMC, CSC delete combo installed today at Specialty Z. I must say that this kit is a great option for you to consider. Clutch feels great and allows for smooth shifting. It is lighter than the Specialty Z/RPS clutch that I had been using. Their (RPS/SZ) clutch and flywheel combo is great by the way and I recommend it as well. I haven't driven it hard yet so more to come. I think the magic sauce is the CSC relocation kit for serviceability. This should be the first move when the CSC goes bye bye. [IMG] _8507615 by Raf, on Flickr[/IMG]
