More rear weight loss. But not happy. Ratio was 57/43 already. But with the SPL mid links I can raise or lower 3" which I believe is needed for corner balance.

Sand, primer, paint. Almost done. Took a week for the quarter to show up. Just got it last night.

Done. Ready for paint. Getting the fender lip rolled at a fender rolling party since the new one needs to be tucked under the inner fender. Now it's sealed and bed liner sprayed for protection.

Lol yeah. Went off road in a sharp corner and something hit the lower quarter and door. It was easier to replace than pull and match the fender curve.

Masterbeatty 03-31-2014 06:54 PM

**** atleast you know how to properly fix your future race car. Looks good though.

What I shoulda done is buy the fiber glass ones that pro drifter guy uses cause they crash all the time or rub their competition. Much faster and easier to replace.

Yeah

Luciano13 04-02-2014 02:09 PM

Does that section on screw or is like the 2012 & under where the grill is plastic welded to the bumper?
Im asking cause i need a custom grille for my Z and if 2013+ simply screws off....maybe I'll just buy that

synolimit 04-02-2014 03:21 PM

It's all one molded plastic piece. Its cut off with a razor blade.

Luciano13 04-02-2014 03:26 PM

Thought so. Thanks

synolimit 04-04-2014 11:24 PM

Progress...ran out, needed to order 2 more gallons :(

Did a really good job with the dip. Using a pearlizer or keeping it matte?

Their new dip gun works good. I'm doing gloss over the matte soon as I lay 1-2 more matte white. It takes a lot of white to get full coverage.

Nice can't wait to see how it looks like in the daylight! Something I've been looking into doing to mine. My Z has rock chips all over the lower portion of the front bumper. Hard to tell unless you're up close and personal, looks like specs of dust. Dipping would be a lot cheaper than painting and fixing the chips. Biggest issue for me is that I love the solid red color.

I wish I would've seen you post about dipping your car, I would've given you a couple pointers!

When laying white, you must have a solid base coat of gunmetal or black. You will use double, almost triple the amount of white that you would use without having a base coat/ 1/2 gal of gunmetal or black. Thats why you're running thru the dip so fast. But even still, red, white, and a few other colors have weak coverage without a base coat.

Looks good though as far as texture is concerned. DYC sprayer is pretty solid and is great to just pick it up and DIY.

I did lay 2 coats of gunmetal, 1 gallon for full coverage. Now with 3 gallons of white I've done 4 coats, 6 total. I'd say maybe 90-95% coverage. I've got 2 more gallons on the way to be safe. I also bought 3 spray cans of white to get into those hard to hit spots before the gallons get here. Since I peeled some I have to fix a few pulled up spots with dip fix, use more of the cans for those to cover, then lay a last coat of white in the gallons. Then I think ill mask some issue pull up spots and lay the gloss. Should all be here Wednesday.

carlitos_370z 04-07-2014 07:35 AM

looks good dude!!!

synolimit 04-10-2014 01:42 AM

What a pita!!

NickTurnon 04-10-2014 09:42 AM

I would highly recommend going to Lowe's and grabbing 1-2 gallons of Naptha.

The sprayable white gallons are already pretty thin. But you can add about 1/4-1/2 gallon to your 2 gallons of white and you'll end up with more sprayable product.

Oh, and on your slightly textured or rough areas/areas that you didn't get enough coverage.. you can spray the naptha straight onto the dip and it will thin the dip out just a bit. Just enough to flatten the spots out, get the paint evenly distributed -

Just dipped a white gloss nissan sentra yesterday with Balloon White Metallic Flake Pigments. It looks awesome!

synolimit 04-10-2014 10:38 PM

It went fine with just adding 2 coats but hairs every now and again, some over spray from rattle cans where I needed to fix spots with dip fix, and I caulked the window vents to water proof. Dip will not stick to silicone. I've redone it a few times where the caulk meets the roof. Huge pain! Also out of no where I have lift. Around the brake inlets and corner near rear tail light. Makes zero sense. It's like it shrunk when it dried. Like applying vinyl and the corner wasn't pushed in far enough.

nice work dude!!!

NickTurnon 04-11-2014 11:52 AM

You can use a q-Tip and some Naptha or Xylene to slightly dab those areas that are lifting up. The Xylene will slowly thin the white back down to liquid form and it will grab hold and form out again once it dries..

I use this method whenever my handles are coming up, or when my rims are scratched, or when I have dip thats peeling up in a small corner, etc...

Looks good! Need some tint on those windows!

I have dip fix. I'm assuming its xylene in their can? Before it got here gas worked good too. I used gas because I saw a guy use mineral spirits which is just petroleum.

I might tint but I don't think its track legal. You have to have the fronts down anyways but the back they might say something. Plus when the cage goes in I wanna see that beauty.
