This is by far the easiest kit to install on this platform. I think most installers will be suprised at how fast it goes together. The install manual goes through every detail as well, so there really is no reason to mess it up.

I have seen some of your handy work in this thread...you will have no problems with this at all.

GaleForce 01-03-2013 05:16 PM

I started running through the manual, it really does look simple. The manual covers every little detail which is refreshing.

"Box 1" is like assembling Lego, easy. Pipe, couplers, clamps.

"Box #2" has brackets for the FMIC, and scavenge pump, easy to install and quickly cuts down on the number of parts that you see on the floor. All of the oil lines are cut to length and labeled. Sasha has really made this plug and play.

There are a bunch of miscellaneous parts on the floor such as wire ties, drill bit, thread tap, Teflon tape, sealant, a syringe for priming the scavenge pump, etc. that give it that overwhelming look. I laid everything out on the floor to show the value of the kit and every little thing that Boosted Performance includes. The only thing you need to add is oil.

Just out out curiosity, how are you going to approach this? Hammer it all out in a weekend? Slowly but surely?

After reading through the manual twice, it definitely looks like something that could be done in a weekend and I would like to bang it out in a weekend, but I don't seem to get that much time to myself. I also want to take a crap ton of photos, that always chews up a lot of time.

The Dimer 01-04-2013 12:11 PM

The suspense is killing me, but I can understand the desire to take your time and make sure everything is perfect.

And I fully support the taking of lots of pictures. I love seeing well documented builds.

I have to make hay while the sun shines. I could have to stop at any time and it could be weeks before I get the chance to work on it again. Hopefully I can get most of the exhaust installed today.

simota1 01-06-2013 01:32 PM

 great progress man.... gonna be tits when its done :D

GaleForce 01-06-2013 02:01 PM

Progress has slowed right down today. I have my exhaust removed and I'm working on the intercooler pipes. They are kicking my butt, that's why I'm posting... needed to take a break.

The couplers may be hard to put on since the silicone has a high coefficient of fricion with the tubing. You can always put a bit of oil on them to aid with that.

i am so jealous reading this thread each day

anthonyy 01-07-2013 12:00 PM

wow you wasted no time. I love it.

GaleForce 01-07-2013 12:33 PM

I'm in what I like to call the "drywall" stage.

I'll explain. If you have ever finished drywall, you know that after you tape the seams it is time consuming to feather out the mud to make an invisible seam. At the same time it doesn't really look like you're doing anything even though you are inching closer to the finish. Basically, you do a bunch of work that isn't immediately noticeable.

Anyhow, updates...

The waste gates are on, the recirc pipes are on, the down pipe and Y pipe are on. I calibrated my A/F gauge. Next is blow-off valves and the associated piping. I still need to run a mile of silicone hose, wire my sending units, tie up my oil lines, tighten the clamps, install the new fuel pump... I should have it nearly complete by spring

For the most part, the Boosted Performance turbo system is installed without any major hiccups.
