Yeah, I have a "quick" release. Usually I leave the front plate in the car, just incase. Besides, it doesn't block too much with it on the passenger side.

BTW, I haven't noticed any leaking since I redid the oil lines and added the Greddy plate. I'll check again in a few weeks.

Choices are aluminum (as shown), carbonfiber, and ???? Wait and see.

zefaulter 06-15-2014 01:31 AM

Is that a cup holder? You'll be adding that extra area below it? More details please :D

Yes, It's the cup holder. I relocated the seat heater and fog light switches to the cubby. Now I need to do something with that space. Right now I have a piece of aluminum there which looks good, but its not quite the right look for my Z. I can make that piece in CF, but again, not the right look. I'm leaning towards flocking it.

Strut bar reworked

This weekends project was to see if I could turn an idea into reality.

First, I converted the carbonfiber strut bar from glossy to matte finish,

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2921/...cdcbcd5b_c.jpgUntitled by J M Gale, on Flickr

Next step was to add my logo. I got some vinyl decals made from a local shop. I'm using these as a mask. The yellow and green tape will end up being carbonfiber.

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2900/...60999934_c.jpgUntitled by J M Gale, on Flickr

I cut the green tape off where I did so that it would flow with the sides of the Top Secret engine cover.

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3845/...5bc46747_c.jpgUntitled by J M Gale, on Flickr

Next, paint brilliant silver to match the exterior of the car and offer some contrast between CF pieces, also match the BOVs.

Mask removal. Success!

I'm not sure who messed that up, her or the sign shop. I'll mention it to her. Thanks for your sharp eyes guys.

Meh. If I was that picky (I am) shît like this would never get done. It's been on the back burner for a while. I was waiting for the rest of the mods to be installed (seats), then do a photo shoot this summer. Honestly, if my Wife didn't look after this herself like she did, I probably wouldn't have carried through with it. It was/is an awesome surprise and I'm blown away that she thought to do this for me.

TheGreatOne 06-17-2014 04:27 PM

Brilliant as always, really loving the bar and thats a great wife to make that mod list for you.

Mine would have just freaked out about how many mods were on the list lol.

Thanks :tiphat:

I had the idea of the bar in my head for a while and recently found time to follow through with it. I'm still on the fence about the look. I'll keep it this way for a little while to see if it grows on me. It's easy enough to paint the entire thing to match the exterior.

Mrs.Force just took my Christmas Newyears card that I sent to select individuals last year to the sign shop. Apparently the sign shop had to input the list, when they sent the proof to my wife for approval she asked them to add "custom steering wheel" because she knows I have one coming. They didn't send another proof after the addition... aaaaaaand that is where the problem happened.
