50 pounds huh? Hehehe. Looking forward to this once my fund is up ;)

Navyboy916 11-01-2012 03:20 PM

Yes I will be happy when they come back. I have a lot of other parts going when the heads come back (I.e, trans cooler, nst pulleys, sprint booster, Hks plugs, and I just order the all aluminum motor mounts, arp L19 11mm head bolts, cosworth head gaskets)

i wonder what you will hit at the track

Navyboy916 11-01-2012 03:48 PM

We will see of course but the track here blows so not sure.... I am not going to push it really hard cause the weak link is the transmission. Until that's upgraded have to baby it and going to garage it most of the time now

Navyboy916 11-01-2012 04:05 PM

For the most part, what Sprint Booster does is something you could do with your own foot. It's just changing the response curve mapping between pedal position and engine input. Their newer model (I forget what they renamed it to) may have more subtlety in the mapping, but the original Sprint Booster's graphs looks like it just jumped the throttle up faster when you first get into the pedal (with the tradeoff of flatter response later in the pedal, because ultimately they can't change the total range available). If you like how it feels when driving though, there's nothing wrong with that.

With UpRev you can control the curve similarly and make up your own mapping. You can see some work I did on that here: http://www.the370z.com/tuning/43384-...tle-uprev.html. My goals are different than Sprint Booster's though. Mostly I'm just trying to get the low-RPM WOT to work while keeping the whole pedal range smooth and usable for finesse.

repped you my man for the explanation thanks man

Navyboy916 11-02-2012 02:45 AM

Simota I will still let u know how it feels

Navyboy916 11-02-2012 04:03 PM

I am reading a lot of these post about hp and tq numbers. Everyone has their own ideas about what is going to make power. For the cams I must say that you can't just buy the cams and swap them in. They are actually to aggressive for the stock valve train. So if you plan on swapping the cams be prepared to spend some coin on pulling the heads off and swapping the valve train. It's even more expensive for our cars cause the intake girdle has to come off in order to reach the complete head, both dc accucators, all three timing chains and timing gears. This swap is taking awhile for me and as other perform this swap more efficient ways will be performed on the motors. So if you think u can just swap these cams in you better rethink your plan.

Navyboy916 11-06-2012 10:36 PM

I just ordered the urethane motor mounts for the engine from z1 motorsports and they will be here before the heads get back to me so they can be installed. This should help with the flexing of the motor when the throttle is quickly depressed

Navyboy916 11-07-2012 02:48 PM

I am tired of people just spending huge loads of cash on the exterior. The car looks badass already. I am showing that turbo or supercharger is not the only way to go. Plus u don't have to spend 6000.00 plus on any of that to make power out of these cars.

binary0x01 11-07-2012 02:52 PM

When you're done with this. And have the car running smoothly (and hard). I hope you'll take the time to do a write up of the parts & labour cost and the order of the modifications, I'm really keen on seeing the results (as I'm sure everyone else is also, or should be at least heh :)

Navyboy916 11-07-2012 02:58 PM

No problem, I will give a list of the parts and labor so people can see its not as bad as people think

Thanks in advance for bud!

Yay, I finally found someone else going NA. Once I get back to the states, I'll be putting the GTM stage 4 in my heads with the JUN cams. I guess GTM will be doing my heads but I have to take them off first. I just ordered my Wiseco pistons a week ago or so from Z1. I'm going with a 10.5:1 ratio, cause I'm going to ceramic cost the pistons when I install them, also I highly recommend getting Total Seal piston rings from Total Seal in Arizona. Does anyone make a completely finished manifold for the 370 yet, for air turbulence, yet? I wish EFI made a standalone for the 370, it did wonders for my Hypersport Elise.

SPOHN 11-11-2012 08:34 AM

Interested in cam results

EX350 11-11-2012 08:57 AM

In for results! And +1 for NA!

Navyboy916 11-11-2012 03:38 PM

:ugh2:The heads are currently being worked by the GTM they started working on the heads. I hope they are done soon cause the car being down really sucks right now. I know once I get them back it will be sweet. I also just bought the HD flex plate for the transmission. I have read some people changing the pistons and rods and actually working the bottom end. I want to keep the bottom end stock right now I have only 8500 miles on the car and the block is pretty stout. GTM even told me that the heads on our motors is where the power is and unleashing that power might not make power close to a turbo or supercharger kit but the reliability is still there and hearing that engine scream is music to my ears. Plus, I still smash on FORDS all day.:happydance:

Navyboy916 11-14-2012 06:35 AM

I just received word today that GTM is currently making the valves to be installed.

Chuck33079 11-14-2012 08:33 AM

Are you planning on swapping out the gears? My guess would be that all the top-end work you're doing will shift the powerband to the right more than a little. 4.08 gears would get you into the meat of the powerband faster.

As of right now I am not planning on swapping out the gears. I might later when i get back to the states. Here is a pic of my new motor mounts from Z1 Motorsports.:happydance: These should help with the flexing of the motor they are really stout and well made.

I have just received the full cylinder head gasket kit from nissan today and a new thermostat. I am hoping the heads will be done done next week from GTM. Here is a pic of what the Z's and G's rep here on Guam. They are located on the back windshield. Not a huge sticker fan but its going to look good and with not many Z's and G's here we will standout. :happydance: It sure is depressing when your car is down for so long and the heads are halfway around the world. Hope GTM can show what these JUN cams and upgraded valve train will do when the heads are flowing so much better.

simota1 11-24-2012 02:50 PM

that sticker looks familiar... where can i get one ;)

Navyboy916 12-21-2012 09:13 PM

Finally have an update to my build. Gtm has been backed logged so its taking a little longer to get the heads put back together. Today I shipped off my torque converter to gtm cause I am purchasing their upgraded torque converter for the 370z. Gtm has told me they hope to get the heads back together and shipped by this week. I am keeping my fingers crossed they can get it done. Thanks to gtm for stepping up and handling this built for me.

SS_Firehawk 12-21-2012 09:35 PM

Haha, your car might be the reason my car won't start making headway until January (late). GTM has my ride for the next nine months. Cant wait to see this come together. They do have a lot of projects on their plate.

Navyboy916 12-21-2012 10:30 PM

They don't have my car they just have my heads and JUN cams. They had to make the valves. I am stationed in Guam so half a world away. I am hope they will be done with mine next week. Good luck on your ride u will have a sweet setup when done

Navyboy916 12-29-2012 10:13 PM

Here an update. I have just purchased the GTM 7 AT torque converter along with the HD flex plate. I really am hoping that GTM will finish my heads this week and get them shipped to me. I also have ordered new urethane exhaust mount kit which will keep the exhaust from shifting when under acceleration from torque solutions.

Navyboy916 01-05-2013 05:46 PM

Omg guys sorry for the very slow build updates. I have just completed the order for the mounts I have the engine mounts already and just bought the z1 motorsports urethane transmission mount. I just received word from GTM the heads are finally done, completed, finished. Lol the flex plate is being treated now and they want to ship everything out on Monday back to me here in Guam. So here's a list of the coming parts:

1. Heads w/ jun ex cams

Navyboy916 01-10-2013 12:22 AM

Hey guys, so I finally go the word today that all my parts are on there way back to Guam and I even have the tracking numbers so i know that they are on there way back to me. They should be here in Guam on Tuesday so I will be posting pics of the heads and all the other parts that are being recieved.

Maybe I didn't read thoroughly, but, why is the front of your car missing? And what kind of SHADY ÁSS dealer do you have in Guam that THEY installed your Jun camshaft???

LOL

Navyboy916 01-10-2013 02:36 PM

You should read the whole thread, they removed my motor and I pulled the heads off and sent to Ca. for upgraded valvetrain and Jun cam install. GTM actually was the placed that has installed my cams and valvetrain. The dealership is only responsible for pulling the motor out and heads off and they are going to reinstall the heads and all the other parts I am going install.

:iagree:

ts-c63 01-11-2013 11:16 PM

So what are you expecting to be putting down with this build? Any hp goals in mine? I for one can't wait to hear this thing already!!

Navyboy916 01-12-2013 12:02 AM

I really have no idea what the hp is going to be. I know JUN builds great products and so these cams should really open the head up and add significant power to the engine. I am trying to build not just the motor but the supporting pieces as well like the transmission aka. new torque converter and flex plate. I will be posting video and pics as the motor is reassembled and of course the first start up. This has seemed like forever but the excitement is growing. I will also be posting a list of parts and cost for this entire build to hopefully help others make the decision to stay NA.

shaun66 01-12-2013 12:19 AM

Can't wait to see this put together!
