Wiggins3377's 40th Anniversary Z

I've been a member of this forum for about 11 months now and a Z owner for about 8. I have to say the moment I picked my 40th up in Chattenoga, TN last September I was obbsessed. I kept the car stock for several months until i decided to sell my stock Rays last December, from then on the modification bug hit me hard. During the winter I purchased a set of 19" Work GS4s in the "Shadow Black" color scheme with a set of Hankook evo v12 to wrap them with (245/35/19 in the front and 275/30/19 out back), stillen gen 3 intakes, H&R springs, Ichiba rear camber kit (oops), shine auto rear spats, stillen side skirts, and a carbon signal spec me lip. I was also surprised a few weeks ago with a escort passport 9500ix and direct wire kit for my birthday. Currently I have my wheels mounted and installed (although they were scratched by the installer.... but they are paying to replace them), my springs and camber kit installed and my intake powdercoated (im calling it "shadow black") and installed. Up coming projects include painting and mounting the body pieces (including molding the lip to the bumper), removing my ichiba camber kit and upgrading to SPL and installling the direct wire kit for my radar. I'll keep everyone updated. Sorry in advance for the bad pics, trying to figure out my DSLR.

It's been awhile since I updated my thread so I thought this was a good time. Unfortunately I haven't done much to the car since the last post, but I finally had a chance to drop off my rear Shine Auto rear spats, Stillen side skirts and CS Spec ME lip for paint. Hopefully everything will be painted and installed in the next few weeks. The guy I'm using gave me a great quote of $500 for everything painted plus molding the the front lip to the bumper. I've used the guy before and he does great work. I'll post pics once complete, but until then I've added some pics taken after I waxed the car and some pics of my old bike to display my guys paint chops!

Well I finally had the time last week to drop off my front bumper, Spec-ME front lip, Stillen side skirts and Shine Auto rear spats to get painted. I have to say my painter did a great job. I've posted some teaser pics below, the side and rear spats are done and I'm hoping to work on the install more today and tomorrow, as for the front bumper, everything should be done by the weekend. I'll post better pics once everything is done and installed. I have to thank forum member 2theextreme for inspiration on the front bumper.

Personall, I had no problems with the Ichiba kit, but there were a few bad reviews that came out on the forum after I purchased them. Do to that I decided to upgrade to SPL's kit.

Lovin the GS4's. Can't wait until mine arrive. The front bumper is going to be pretty low it looks like.

Can't wait to see the finished pics.

Hoping not too low. For the last couple of months the only thing a scraped on the ground was the sport front lip, luckily the new lip doesn't hang as low as that did. I'll test the waters for a bit, if it's looking bad I'll probably switch to swift springs.

I picked up my front bumper today and had time to install it this afternoon. All in I'd say the lip, side skirts and rear spats work perfect together. Unfortunately it rained in Cincinnati today so the car isn't clean, but ill post some updated pics once I give it a clean. I also need to get a new front bumper emblem. I'm very happy with the results. Still looking for a Evo-R Rear Diffuser to paint satin black, so let me know if anyone has one for sale, also contemplating adding the Stillen rear window spoiler. After that I think I'm done customizing until next summer. Let me know what you all think.

Read the first 3 sentences and thought "Man, all he needs now is the evo-r diffuser" ....... then you say it's on your to do list.

Awesome looking Z, and a 40th at that, very nice! Everything flows nicely, looking forward to what's next, you have excellent taste.

As promised here are a few shots I took today after cleaning the car. I've also added some engine shots, my painter did my Gen 3 intakes and engine cover in 40th Quartz the same time he did my bumper. The engine bay needs some cleaning, but you get the idea.

Amazing job Wiggins3377. Your car looks so mean, I would be scared to see you in my rear view mirror!

speedfreek 09-05-2012 01:44 PM

Sick ride man

I really want the Spec-ME lip now but only if I get it molded to the bumper like you have it. I doubt I can find anyone around here I can trust to do the work for the right price as well as do a great job. Worried about paint matching on the PW.

As far as a new front bumper emblem. Have you seen the Evo-R's new black Z emblems with the CF backing? I think that would set it off nicely. Unfortunately I don't think they are in production yet so there will be a wait.

Wiggins3377 09-08-2012 09:51 AM

Thanks for the praise guys. It took a long time for me to decide on this set-up, but I'm very happy with it. As for as molding the lip, I don't think it was as hard as it appears. Anyone with body work experience should be able to do it well. Another helper would be to look at 2theextreme's journal he has some progress shots that I gave my guy and I think they helped. I decided to just stop by my local Nissan dealer to get a new front emblem.

It's been awhile since I updated this, but with the new year I just made my first purchase for the Z. Put a down payment on a new set of GS4s. Went with 20" this time and got the glossy bronze barrels with matte black faces and a step up lip. I've got 8-12 weeks to wait, but should be here just in time for summer! I'll update with pics once I've received them. My next upgrade will be an exhaust or maybe something with the interior (considering a red shift boot or building a iPad mini in the cubby). On a totally separate note my intelligent key system went out on me a few weeks back, luckily I was under warranty so I just had it fixed.

Thanks, and thanks for answering my questions! You are one of a couple users who made my decision easier.

TheGreatOne 01-29-2013 10:13 PM

Ohhhh Bronze barrels, I think that will look awesome. Our 40ths look great with darker shades/colors on the wheels.

Nice mods though, love the Stillen sides and the front, they flow nicely!

Can't wait to see teaser pics of the wheels!

Finally pulled the trigger on a used Fast Intentions Exhaust. I plan to clean it up this weekend and install the next. Still shopping around for their long tube headers if anyone has a set they are looking to part with.

Installed the exhaust system today, I'm sure it's been said before about Fast Intentions' products... but all I can say I wow. Mine is the 18" resonator version and the sound is amazing. I originally planned on adding their long tube headers to the setup, but I'm fearful it may be to loud. Starting to think I may just go with some high flow cats and call it a day. As for driving around with the system, I've already hit the cans a couple of times on my H&Rs. Think I'm just gonna have to be careful when I'm driving on rough roads.

If you can find some used Motordyne Art Pipes (V2 or V3) those go great with the Fast Intentions exhaust. Also art pipes keep your low end torque compared to some other test pipes

I have the CF cans on my resonated 18" exhaust but I'm sure the sound would be similar.

Anyways, love your 40th buddy! :tiphat:

Just got word from RavSpec that my wheels came in a little early. Paid the balance today and they should be delivered mid next week. I'm a few weeks away from install as weather is still crappy in Cincy, but I'll post some teaser shots when they get in.

Have u decided on what tires to wrap your new wheels?

Wiggins3377 03-26-2013 05:36 AM

Going with Hankooks again. 255/30/20 and 305/25/20. Ultimately I was fearful of rubbing in the front with a 35 profile tire. I'll probably order them early next week given wheels should be here by the weekend.

I had my emblem at that point, lol. Hope the tires are treating you well and I look forward to seeing the Nismo rims on your car. You could always make a trip up here on May 5th, there is a car show I'm planning to enter it would be great to sit next to another Z.

Parts are starting to pile up at my house. Once I get my wheels and diffuser installed (hopefully less than a week away, still waiting on some lugs), I'm pretty much done with the exterior of my car. That said my next task is engine dress up, started the process by buying a lightly used set of top secret intakes and a matching top secret oil cap, got a deal on the set from lpl 370gt that I couldn't pass up. On top of adding these my current plan is to replace the OEM hoses with the red ones available on Z1. Then I think I'll add to the carbon fiber scheme with the Password JDM carbon fiber accessories and finish off with a better coolant reservoir tank and some dress up bolts. Anything that's aluminum or stainless in the bay I'll probably paint/ powdercoat bronze to pull in the color from my GS4s. Well until I install here's a few teaser pics.
