thanks!

wstar 07-19-2013 10:10 PM

Congrats Mike! That's kind of a cool way to finish off the instructor stuff :)

Sh0velMan 07-19-2013 10:34 PM

Grats man!

daisuke149 07-20-2013 12:35 AM

congrats mike. Now instruct me. im terrible

Shadezz 07-20-2013 08:56 AM

Great job MIKE!!

wstar 07-20-2013 10:21 AM

Back on the wing subject, is that the "normal" static one (12" high x 65" wide) or the SCCA-spec one (10" high x 61.5" wide)? I'm not quite to the wing stage of things yet, but starting to think ahead and look at others' setups :)

wstar 07-20-2013 10:31 AM

Also, while I was digging around Aeromotions' website, I stumbled upon some Aero-porn. I'd never put this kind of money in a wing for HPDEs, but damn that S2 wing is sexy in action. It's split in the middle and has its own dynamic angle controller (per-side!) that knows when you're braking and which way you're cornering, etc:

I watched the whole vid. Very cool. I want one.

Rusty 07-20-2013 11:34 AM

Congrats Mike! Moving up in the world. :tiphat:

Got to get me one of these. Just for the baller look! :excited:

SPOHN 07-20-2013 02:58 PM

Mike doesn't have the module for the brake flap yet. But who cares. It's full of win.

I got the SCCA spec one. You never know what the future may hold, and if its good enough for Brian Kleeman, its good enough for me. I'm happy with the performance of it this weekend.

Had a blast instructing too. Member ValidusVentus is my student this weekend and he is really smooth and consistent behind the wheel.

Mike 07-22-2013 07:36 PM

btw, I put my car on the scales this weekend. With me in it and 15 gallons of fuel, it was 3320. I am 210 and the fuel is about 100 lbs, so it should be right at 3000 lbs. empty.

Not bad IMO.

SPOHN 07-22-2013 07:47 PM

I cant wait for you to see my doors. Gutted 100% now. Will be getting full cage by year ends.

travisjb 07-22-2013 09:59 PM

Cage is a good idea for the level your getting to, Chris

sub 3100 with driver is attainable, race ready... my fat *** sits at about 3150 with fuel now

Mike 08-05-2013 09:52 PM

I got weighed at VIR, 3000 empty.

On my way to Z1 yesterday, pic taken by another Zatlanta member.
http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/3140/lb7f.jpg

I was getting a lot of RPM slippage coming out of the turns when I got on the gas. Z1 replaced my clutch, CSC and pressure plate at the track Saturday night, but it didn't help. Think its the diff. Changing the fluid for a first step, but the Quaife is a gear diff, not a clutch plate diff, so we don't know if it will help or not. Find out at Roebling in 2 weeks.

wstar 08-05-2013 10:16 PM

3000 basically ready-to-run but no driver and little fuel? Damn that's light.

SPOHN 08-06-2013 04:42 AM

When my motor goes back in ill be weighing mine since it needs to be corner balanced again. Course the TT kit adds 120. Bit Ive done a lot of shaving in the motor area.

sig11 08-06-2013 05:47 PM

That is awesome. I think weight reduction has to be my favorite mod. :P Having run my 370 at 3430lbs (me and a 3/4 tank of fuel) and switching to the 350 (me and ~1/2 tank) at 3080lbs I'm finding myself a surprising amount faster with less power and less suspension! Can't wait to get a set of race tires.

you've taken out a lot more than me, but that extra 120 pounds will cost you, I'm guessing 2950 empty for you.

But the extra 100hp on track days.......

Mike 08-20-2013 07:42 AM

Not the Z, but some mods to the Nissan Racing Support Vehicle, aka Cayenne Diesel.
Had all the stainless trim and textured black plastic smoothed and painted body color, and the badges removed.

My local Nissan dealer is selling a Cayenne. Not sure if diesel though. Yours looks badass!

In Canadia, gotta be a diesel

Saw your Cayanne on FB, looks good!

thanks! The diesel just came to the states in 13

Mike 08-20-2013 07:25 PM

On another note, I think I have outgrown my Quaife LSD. With Hoosier A6s, I'm getting lots of traction loss accelerating out of corners. With the helical gear diffs, they cut power if one wheel looses traction apparently, and its very annoying. I softened my rear sway and that helped quite a bit, but I think a clutch type is in the future.

The sad thing is, I thought it was the clutch, so I had it replaced when I didn't really need to. Did get a bitchin new Z1 upgraded pressure plate and a new CSC, which was probably due soon anyways though.

HKYStormFront 08-20-2013 07:42 PM

yea helical are great when you are on the ground all the time, if you hit curbing and get air or even a bit light, they go open. clutch type do not. Nismo is, i believe, the best way to go for clutch type diff's, just be aware you are going to need some serious cooling for it and regular changes with expensive fluid. helical diff's don't give a crap about the fluid. i know Kleeman has run wavetrack's and several other clutch type diff's and i think the Nismo is the best he's come across so far. he traded a quaife diff with Russ Rana for his nismo diff a while back.

Mike 08-20-2013 07:44 PM

I've got a GTM diff cooler installed already

Mike 10-03-2013 07:23 PM

tired of missing track days due to rain. Looks like rain is possible for Znats so I ordered my rain setup from tire rack today. It will be here tomorrow.
18x8.5 Enkei Raijin wheels and 245/40-18 RE11As. My Tire Rack rep said they had the best wet performance in their testing.

Also, added this sticker I made today to my truck.

Mr&Mrs 10-03-2013 07:25 PM

Guess we can call you the post man now. Rain or shine baby!

Mike 10-03-2013 07:30 PM

I don't plan on pushing it in the rain, just don't like travelling hours to a track to park for the weekend or part of it.

SPOHN 10-03-2013 08:51 PM

Did you look at these also?

Mike 10-03-2013 09:00 PM

yeah, but I didn't want to spend that kind of money. I'm not looking to set records in the rain, just safely drive.

Come on. Rain, snow, and dirt. Records need to be set.

Damn I'm 3297 with me and fuel with no cage. 147 plus cage weight to match you is a lot of gutting haha.

Mike 10-04-2013 08:08 AM

A/C was good for 40, Momentum headers another 16. Door glass is probably 10

SPOHN 10-04-2013 08:29 AM

And now I have no glass anywhere. Best weight saving from front to back and up high.
