My beastly build @ Project X

After owning my Nismo 370 for only a year, I decided that the crap ton of mods I've done simply weren't enough.

With that in mind, Project X and I decided I decided on a twin turbo install along with a motor build, and many other goodies. Not to mention, one previously before mentioned killer JDM piece that we simply can't wait to see.

My car coming into 2012

Here we are with the top of the motor off the car.

And here we are with the front of the car off. Here you can really start to see the differences between the Z33 and the Z34.

Here you can see the new Variable Valve set up...

Man what a nice Nismo! That's the cleanest engine bay I've seen. What kind of numbers are you going for and what are the plans for the car?

Also, the custom sub box Project X designed and built for my car is constructed out of Carbon Fiber.

Autopower roll bar. They're doing a bunch of interior tear down for the roll bar and custom sound set up (PPI).

Thanx to Jeff at Project X for posing for the shot. Perhaps he wanted to be sure we got a sense of scale.

We're aiming for around 600 at the wheel. Although we're actually building the engine for much more than that, there is not really a management system out there capable of handling much more than that safely and without issues.

I also am not comfortable with much more than that at this point, as I need to get used to having that much car LOL. But the engine will be ready to go if/when we decide to give her more power.

It's mainly a show car, but I am starting to get into some mild tracking just for fun. How could you not with that much power LOL.

What makes you say that? With a proper fuel setup I see no limitations of UpRev that would prevent you from making high horsepower.

theDreamer 03-25-2012 01:12 PM

In for results.

Agreed. There is that car that shall not be mentioned that put down at least 850rwhp using the stock ECU and Uprev. They did upgrade the MAF's though.

Excited to see your progress.

Agreed, you can easily use the stock ECU for 600-700, I would give a call to GTM and talk to Sam for a bit about it.

kenchan 03-25-2012 02:05 PM

Nice~

GaleForce 03-25-2012 02:21 PM

Love the tear down photos. The roll cage is beefy! Looking forward to Moar!

mantella87 03-25-2012 02:25 PM

Amazing. Do you have a wallpaper res for that very first picture?

Jordo! 03-25-2012 02:26 PM

Specifically, what are you doing for the build?

modme 03-25-2012 02:27 PM

Interested

370ZilverZ 03-25-2012 02:35 PM

Nice build! Looking forward to updates.

I knew I'd get into this discussion as soon as I posted that statement.

One said car doesn't run properly all the time, because of this. Fact. It constantly has to be tinkered with.

Yes, it "can" be done. But done reliably and safely to the point we are comfortable with at this time, no.

Also, as I stated earlier, I need to ease myself into this much power. Or I will literally kill myself.

Love this car! It is definately going to be a beast :yum:

Z1st 03-25-2012 06:18 PM

This car is going to be awesome when its done!

christian370z 03-25-2012 08:09 PM

Wow, this is certainly one of the cleanest Nismos out there and the TT build will only make it that much more awesome. The best of luck, can't wait to see her all buttoned up!

I'll take that to mean you don't actually know why, but heard it from someone else.

The only issue I am aware of that would present a problem tuning is UpRev currently doesn't have control over the throttle enrichment maps which results in poor drivability due to flooding the engine when running too large of an injector (1000cc for example).

Aside from this, from a tuning standpoint I can't think of any technical reason why you can't run a 370 over 600whp "safely", hence why I was asking why you said that.

Sort of. I based my decision on what I was told from the guys doing the build and their recommendation and what THEY know (the key word being "know"), not what I know. I'll be the first to admit I don't know everything and don't pretend to try. But I put my faith in people who do.

We simply did not we feel comfortable going any more than that at this point, and frankly, I'm not ready for it anyways.

Jamaica 03-25-2012 11:21 PM

wow good luck. Hoping you get over 600whp!

Understandable, I can't imagine using more than 600whp in this car, it will be a hell of a ride. Good luck with the build and keep the pictures coming

XLaroldX 03-26-2012 07:58 AM

The motor is being built to handle well in excess of the power levels that Jay is going to comfortably street. The goal is being able to eventually run 1000WHP if Jay so desires. Our discussions along that line were that the limitations at this point was a tuning solution that we were comfortable with. So, for now, he will be limited by what we can safely tune with Osirus on the stock MAFs. We can upgrade the MAFs if he wants more power, however, or go with a stand alone using a MAP eventually. After break in, we are looking at between 600 and 700 WHP for the initial tune. Once Jay gets used to that, we can then go for even bigger power!

Ultimately, though, the goal isn't to just have big numbers, it's to have a fun enjoyable car that Jay feels comfortable driving.

Thanx!

Hoping you make more for our engine bay! Notice the aluminum tanks in my engine bay shot are what I purchased from you. They are stellar. Hoping you keep doing more!

Thanx man. Will do. We're waiting on some parts to arrive before we can proceed much further at this point.

Officially one of my favorite builds on the forum. I would suggest an APR wing if you are going for functional aero, but the car looks really clean

ZInferno0248 03-27-2012 11:19 PM

Congratulations on an exciting build. Project X did my SC kit and they are very knowledgable and do outstanding work. Your car is incredibly unique and inspiring. I love projects that take it this far.

What suspension mods did you do? The stance looks great.
