It's from my local sponsor NYG Racing. They ordered it from Extreme Dimensions. As for cracking, I would think that it would not survive an impact but most Fiberglas wouldn't. The duraflex has a lot if give in it and is easier to mount than a straight Fiberglas kit.

Got the old stock sport spoiler off finally. Not the easiest thing to do by far! Anyways, sat the Seibon spoiler on there to get an idea of the finished look...

Noticed that the bumper foam reinforcement is very tight against the bumper... and the vented areas are going to be hard to install the mesh with the foam that close. I think I will have to trim the foam back a bit (not remove it entirely) so the grills can go in.

I also plan on painting the kit the stock Black Rose colour with satin black accents throughout. All the inner 'scoop' areas will be sating black along with the traditional paint stylings of the amuse kit. I may need to paint the entire car in the process, especially if I decide to add some custom front fenders too.... The rear hatch will need to be painted where the old spoiler came off and the holes will need to be filled prior to mounting the new wing.

zefaulter 12-29-2013 04:56 PM

painting the whole car? Correct me if I'm wrong, this whole process could cost almost as much as going FI, right?

wheee! 12-29-2013 06:05 PM

It just may!! Lol

Need a bigger (read: Amuse) wing. :stirthepot:

zefaulter 12-31-2013 08:52 AM

Come to think of it, those wheels are gonna look tiny too

wheee! 12-31-2013 10:06 AM

Do you mean the 'storage' wheels? The mounted wheels and tires are my winter rims and tires. I only mount them to store the vehicle.
Normally I run the stock sport rays with Ventus v12 305's and 275's....

But yeah, I need a set of Work Varianza T1S's with bronze barrels and spokes....

You just like to stir the pot!

You know I don't care for the amuse wing and it's window blocking size...!

...seat cushion. :roflpuke2:

wheee! 01-12-2014 02:58 PM

Don't get me wrong. I think the amuse wing suits the body kit but I hate to lose even more visibility.

Mr&Mrs 01-13-2014 07:23 PM

You won't lose much visibility if any. The top of the wing is just about roof height. You look right through it with no problem. If anything the Seibon wing takes away more IMO.

wheee! 01-13-2014 08:47 PM

So I screwed myself... ! lol

When is it getting painted? I can't wait to see it. Looks awesome !

wheee! 01-15-2014 07:53 AM

Car is going to the bodyshop first week of March. That gives me two months before the snow melts...

zefaulter 01-15-2014 08:22 AM

Did you try working on the fitment? Can we see more photos?

wheee! 01-15-2014 09:29 AM

The fitment is good but I am not going to play with it anymore myself. I don't want to damage anything and the pros will know the best way to move the parts closer. I am only out 1/4" on the passenger headlight and bumper and that can be heated and pushed closer. The rest of the adjustment to the hood is just a matter of finessing the hinge mounts a bit. What else did you want to see? I can take more pics if you want.

I was just curious if you had any progress. I'm sure it will look great once fitted and painted well.

I see. Well, I am on a course in February for 3 weeks and won't be back till the last week of the month, so I have arranged for it to go in to the body shop in the first week of March. That will allow more snow to melt hopefully and getting the car to the bodyshop will be easier too!
The shop is estimating a two to three week turnaround time and I am allowing 2 months... so it should be good!

Wishful thinking, full of it you are. haha

zefaulter 01-16-2014 03:41 PM

Lol

wheee! 02-24-2014 08:37 PM

Installed a TWM short shifter today! Very nice unit with ball bearing action. Looking forward to running it through the gears on the road in 3 months

edconline 02-24-2014 08:38 PM

Jealous!

wheee! 02-24-2014 08:44 PM

Nice and smooth thru the gates and reverse is a cinch. Smooth throws with the ball bearing linkage. Install was easy except I have to go back and try and reattach the linkage boot again tomorrow. Probably have to drop the drive shaft to get at it. :shakes head:

6MT 02-24-2014 08:47 PM

Pictures Mark...:worthless:

wheee! 02-24-2014 08:48 PM

Meh. It's been done a thousand times before. I didn't bother snapping pics. But I will get one of the new shift height for you soon.

Mr&Mrs 02-25-2014 07:54 AM

Getting close to paint and body, can't wait. Please get details from the shop on fitment of this brand Amuse Rep. I'm curious to hear what they say.

wheee! 02-25-2014 10:43 AM

It's going into the shop in the next two weeks weather permitting. The kit fits about a 8/10 so far with no major issues. The jpr hood needs to be tweaked a little as it seems the centre section is resting on the strut bar, not allowing it to sit flush at the hinges. I might need to remove a small amount of the fiberglass cross support under the hood probably less than a 1/16th to an 1/8th. Other than that, the kit fits remarkably well. I will wait to hear what the body shop pros say though...

wheee! 02-26-2014 08:44 PM

Got a couple of quotes on the paint and bodywork... :icon14:.....

this is going to hurt

Damn, how bad?

wheee! 02-27-2014 07:19 AM

Bad enough.... And that's for a kit that actually fits pretty good. About an 8 out of 10...
I'm looking at roughly 3x what I paid for the kit.

Mr&Mrs 02-27-2014 07:32 AM

Care to elaborate on the quote?

wheee! 02-27-2014 09:01 AM

Well put it this way. The turbo kit is looking like a good bargain now...

4k-5k total?

GaleForce 02-27-2014 09:44 AM

Ouch.

wheee! 02-27-2014 01:04 PM

I'm working on a deal that will include a partial sponsorship. Hoping to get in and out for around $2000. Quotes as high as $5k....

wheee! 03-13-2014 11:33 AM

Spent some time in the garage last night. Got the heat gun out and warmed up the bumper where it meets the headlight on the passenger side. There was a gap of almost half an inch between the two and I wanted to fix that before I sent it to the body shop.

I heated the bumper enough to make it flexible (Duraflex has resin in the fibreglas) then pushed it in towards the headlight gently, then held it there till it cooled.

End result, it removed the gap and made the bumper fit flush! I left a 'small' impression from where I was pushing against the bumper while it was warm, but that can be easily corrected in bodyprep with filler. Pics to come soon.
