Wow, I read all 30 pages of this build thread and I was anxious to read page after page after page. Great build, it's looking fantastic, can't wait to see what you do over the winter. You're definitely an inspiration to us and you encourage us to do whatever we want to do to our cars without worrying about other peoples opinions. Keep up the good work.

RoZy will be sitting pretty and undisturbed over the winter. My other project is my 1976 280Z restoration! See my thread on www.classiczcars.com same username. |

I drove mine in a pretty rough winter last year on the original sport tires with 15,000 miles on them - the rears were almost bald as March rolled around but I have mad drifting skills now for sure! |
Cabin fever is burning hot these days...

55 Fahr in Columbus today - think I'll go out for a spin! :)

Must. Not. Kill. LinPark.

Soon. Very soon the road shall rise to meet RoZy!

This year the plans for the car are simple. Drive it.
The first few years were pretty frantic and exhausting, modding the car to where it is now. Now I just want to drive it as much as I can this summer. The project car (280Z) is full throttle on the rotisserie with all the metal fabricating and repairs ongoing. Hoping to have the underside restored and the frame/shell sprayed by the end of the fall. That's optimistic if my first plan (drive RoZy) is going to be fulfilled! lol |

You forgot the headlights, but other than that it's a good plan! The trip south through the mountains will sure add some km's if you do it! |
....aaaaand stop the timer!
Ed chimes in to break my balls about the headlights again  |

Two weeks back in town between exercises and all I can do is yard work...! So much nice driving weather too!!! Arrrgh.

So the yard work was completed last year and was well worth it! Along with that, my daughter gave birth to my third grandson on October 7th last year! Of course the Army felt the need to cancel my leave pass, ship me across the country BETWEEN fall exercises over the Thanksgiving weekend to attend an unecessary course so I missed his birth (the second time that the Army sent me away during a birth...!) AND Thanksgiving....
I did not get to drive RoZy as much as I wanted due to being in the field for 4 months last summer. Sad. I did, however, spend a lot of time on the 280 over the winter and have been progressing nicely with the repairs and restoration. The metal work is done and the primer is applied to the shell. This year, more 370 driving.... at least that's the plan! First road trip thru the Rockies to Kelowna is already booked for the May long weekend! |

Holy... that tire has turned those wheels into deep dish! Lol |

A small amount of camber was added to clear the wheel wells. Running about -2.0 now. A little finessing of the body kit to allow the tires to slide into the wells too. All good now!
|
Well, I changed the rear wheel bearing on the driver side due to a “roaring” sound while cruising.
Sound persisted so I inspected the rear diff and found clean oil and smooth operation. Synthetic fluid is in it as well. I changed the front wheel bearing next thinking the noise is rotational and coming from somewhere on the left side, but still no luck! My next best guess is the CV shaft needs replacing, but that’s all that I can think of that’s causing this noise. Very strange. Thoughts? |

So you’re saying that the noise was driver side but the passenger side bearing was the culprit? I had a friend drive my Z while I was in the passenger seat and it still sounded driver side...

Definitely can’t hear it on jackstands. Needs a load and about 30kmh to hear anything.

Damaged the front bumper on RoZy last year pulling into a gas station. Hit a pothole at the lip and twisted the bumper. Was only doing 3mph but it cracked it pretty bad. Oh well.
Stripped it down, repaired the fibreglas and then primed, painted (two tone) and cleared it all. Did some wet sanding and now it is ready for sending off for some 3M wrap to protect it for another 10 years! |

and the last few. The paint has a slight orange peel like factory but is mirror clear now.

Boo on the break, holla at the fix.
Nice job! |
Not sure how I missed the new addition to the stable :icon14:
Very sexy! And nice work on the repair  |
