This looks like a nice upgrade Rusty. How are you attaching the Allstar Performance aluminum flange to the (OEM?) brake shield? Rivets? I've ordered a set of ducts from Kevin at FE and they are 3" OD. I'm looking to bypass the Stillen kit entirely and essentially do the same thing as you are. Also, how long were the hoses that you ordered? Could you get by with a single 10 ft piece (5' for each side) or is that too short?

Thanks,
Mick

I'm going to rivet the flange to the shield. The shield is steel and the flange is aluminum. The hose I got is 10ft long. I'm hoping that's enough to do both sides. That hose is $$

Body glue works too.

I don't think I would trust the glue to hold the flange to the brake shield because of the heat.

My guy cut the 2" flanges off the Stillen bracket and fab on a 3".

Think I might sell my Stillen kit after I finish this project up. Shields, hoses, brackets, etc.

Thanks for the feedback Rusty. I noted the same thing about the hose pricing. I found a 10 ft section of Allstar Performance hose (3" diameter, 550 degree limit) for $117 on Jegs.com I also found a 12 ft section of "high temperature silicine air duct hose" (3" diameter, 450 degree continuous, 500 degree max) for $117 on pegasusautoracing.com. I'm not sure that the 50 degree difference is meaningful, especially after the ducts are in place and the added cooling is realized.

I am curious as to whether you find that the single 10' piece of hose is long enough for both sides.

Best,
Mick

Mine has been on for quiet some time just fine. It's an option. :p

Here's my write up on the Bell Raceworks diff brace from Z1. I trashed it.

Was working on the Z today. Ran into a problem with the SLP bushings I was installing. I updated my thread on rear suspension. Starts on post #28.

Getting ready to drop the sub-frame to install the SPL bushing in the sub-frame mounts. So I decided to drain the rear diff of fluid. Very pleased with what came out. No particles that I can see. The lube is dark, but not black. Pulled apart the screen filter that I installed in the line that goes from the diff to the cooler. Nothing in there either. Man.......that OS Giken lube is thick. :icon14: I'm going to leave it drain over night. Oh, there is about 2,000 miles on this lube since I installed the OS Giken diff and cooler. So it was over due for a change.

SLP? For a second thought you traded for a firehawk.
