How bad were the SPL subframe solid bushings to install? I am thinking about getting them done at MA while they have everything torn apart. Did you have any noise issues?

They're still sitting on the bench. :shakes head: I never got around last winter to install them. I'm going to be tackling these in about 2 weeks. With your neck. I would let MAM install them. I don't think there is anyway to install them without dropping the sub-frame. I'm going to make a cradle to fit my floor jack to make it easier to lower and lift the sub-frame in place. To drop the sub-frame. You have to; remove the tires, calipers, rotors, disconnect the e-brake cable at the e-brake shoes, exhaust pipes, drive shaft, frame bracing. Unplug the speed sensors at the diff. Remove the lower shock bolt. Then undo the 4 nuts that hold the sub-frame in place. Once the sub-frame is down. Use a deep holesaw to cut the center out. Then a sawzall to cut the shell. Just like a diff bushing. Remove the shell. Clean up the hole and use a ball joint press to install the new bushing. That's the way I'm going to do it.

WOW! That's a ton of work!

Figure about a good weekend.

That is exactly why I was going to let them do it. LOL I already have a diff cooler and DSS pro level axles for them to install. Why they are at it. Might as well.

I was under the car to install my diff cooler and tweaked my neck. I said F'it. I will let them do it.

Since I have the front bumper off for the splitter install, and going with the Castrol brake fluid. I decided to up-grade the brake cooling ducts to a 3" hose from the Stillen 2" hose set-up.

Pic's of the 10ft, 3" diameter hose, 4" to 3" reducers. The factory carbon fiber RC brake ducts are designed for a 4" hose. And the flanges for the brake shield.

Pic of the difference in size between the 2" and 3" hoses.

And this is where I have to change and mod the new reducers to fit the RC brake ducts.

you summed up the subframe bushing install perfectly.

it is a gigantic pain in the *** that is worth the effort. The gain in ....predictability? for lack of a better term is worth it. There is some gear whine on deceleration (with whiteline diff bushings) but if you listen to music it's irrelevant.

I can't hear chit now. Between the exhaust and bad hearing. :rofl2:

Removed the old reducers, modded the new reducers to fit. Tomorrow, I'll use 2 part epoxy to hold the pieces together.

Brake duct work. After the epoxy cures overnight. I'll install them in the bumper tomorrow

This looks like a nice upgrade Rusty. How are you attaching the Allstar Performance aluminum flange to the (OEM?) brake shield? Rivets? I've ordered a set of ducts from Kevin at FE and they are 3" OD. I'm looking to bypass the Stillen kit entirely and essentially do the same thing as you are. Also, how long were the hoses that you ordered? Could you get by with a single 10 ft piece (5' for each side) or is that too short?

Thanks,
Mick

Body glue works too.
