right on... as I said, we're not building the motor... in order to keep the costs manageable on my car, I will run *only* sealed nissan factory motors... period... sharif and his company exist for more than just rebuilding motors, as I'm sure you'd agree!

looking at options for both rear diffuser and rear wing... see a few pages back for potential rear wing from kognition

... btw, it turns out that lexus stole our idea for scoops and put them on the LFA !

Yeah Im making everything i can think of. I will sell all this stuff to you guys once it's done. If you know me, I'm not one for waiting too long for these things. I am getting back home from a business trip this friday, monday I have a meeting with the CF guys and if all goes well I will leave some stuff already to test the quality out. Might be able to have something posted by late next week. I saw some pics of their bits that they make for motorcycles (ducati ++) and it looks like its great quality. These are going to be replacements, not overlays.

Please post on my profile wall if anyone needs info, I will not answer more questions on Travis' journal.

UPDATE:
  • car is back with Redline Motorsports in Tempe
  • today we removed the stock rear spoiler, and will eventually be adding a Kognition rear wing in it's place... in the meantime, I will have the holes filed in and painted
  • we also test fit the front wheels from Forgestar... as much as we are all po'd at Forgestar for crap customer service, the wheels look great ! offset is perfect and the matte black on brilliant silver works well... I may end up getting another set
  • over next ~2 weeks plan to get the following done:
  • set up steering column and new hub/wheel... will post more on this later
  • get the car running again... we've pulled so much crap from the car (immobilizer, airbag computer, steering wheel position sensor, etc) that the computer has freaked out and put it in permanent limp mode <1K rpm... we are looking into workarounds but may have to restore some of the electronics connections... SHARIF, what are you doing on your build? putting in resistors to terminate lines?
  • set up suspension for new wheels / tires... going to drop the car another inch or so... I will still run the stock 19s on the street, so needs to work with both
  • may swap the Stillen CBE for straight pipes... more aggressive + creates room under the car to mount a rear diff cooler
  • alternatively, we may leave the CBE for a while longer and locate the rear diff cooler on the rear deck inside the hatch... haven't decided yet
  • either way, will be using the new scoops to cool the rear diff cooler
  • we will NOT use the scoops for air to rear brakes... looking at a simpler solution there
  • will be routing 2.5" or 3" hose from the 'fang' area on front bumper cover to the front brakes
  • then back to fathead fabrication to add front window fairings and to setup the front splitter
  • then off to paint... going with flat black everywhere except possibly a satin black finish on the roof... rationale is that luster on body panels should match... input welcomed on this point... perhaps it'd be better to just go flat black on the roof too ?

Targeting to be ready in exactly 1 month for 2-day event at PIR with NASA

Since you asked for opinions on the flat black, don't do it lol. Flat black looks pretty good when its all clean, but in a track environment with dust and dirty fingerprints it looks terrible real quick. I also suggest going for a glossy finish on the interior because you will have no windows and I can tell you from experience on a track car with no windows the interior gets gross very quickly. Also another reason not to go flat black on the outside, since you have no windows, chances are you won't wash it nearly as much or as well as you normally would so it would always look like crap. Also I suggest for the engine bay, if you are painting that, to stick with the silver or go white or some other light color to make it easier to spot any leaks.

Thanks Mike for the input. Will leave engine bay as is... Will put some thought into satin finish inside and out.

On the topic of steering columns and hubs... several options to consider

1. weld the "Joe's" quick release hub directly to the stock steering column
2. return the Joe's hub and buy an NRG setup like Mike's
3. return the Joe's hub and buy a Porsche Cup Car setup... they are universal so would fit this car, but pricey... benefit it one less part to worry about breaking/not working right
