umm, well remember I said the fuel gauge is inaccurate on the 370z? yeah...kinda ran out of gas on the track...luckily it was at the end of the session...got flat-bedded back to the pits. Laugh it up.

That blows. What was the indicator at?

Update: BC Racing ER coilovers fit perfectly, but SPC front / upper control arms are a bust - don't provide necessary clearances... working with SPC right now to establish fitment, perhaps a different or modified part.... may scrap my track plans for the weekend, unfortunately!

Bummer!

Where is the clearance issue? Is it hitting the tire/wheel or the strut?

travisjb 05-14-2009 03:32 PM

I'm having it done, so don't have all the details right now... just got word from my shop, Redline Motorsports... need a bit of time to cycle through on this with Tech Support at SPC, then will give everyone definitive word on fitment. Will update soon. Thanks.

RCZ 05-14-2009 03:47 PM

travis, depending on your review of the coilovers I am either going to buy those or the KW V3's...I am waiting :)

travisjb 05-14-2009 03:50 PM

I will try to document as much as I can, including video...

ChrisSlicks 05-14-2009 04:03 PM

Mike at DDM has the BC ER coilovers installed, but no upper control arms.

I'm also trying to decide what to get, and figure out what will be enough spring.

travisjb 05-14-2009 05:44 PM

We're going to try and copy Mike's setup for the weekend... I also need to find a babysitter!!! If both of those happen, will have video for all on Sunday

After this weekend, SPC is sending me a new set they think will work... I'll keep ya'll posted on that

RCZ 05-14-2009 08:33 PM

Travis, was it you that bought the same camera mount I did?

Did you get it on time for the weekend?

travisjb 05-14-2009 09:34 PM

no, but I remember you and SOMEONE ELSE talking about the mount... maybe it was Alan or Wstar ???

I'm using a chasecam, it comes with its own mount setup...

I'm 50/50 for my event this weekend... if I go, will def have video...

wstar 05-14-2009 10:00 PM

It was me, I have the mount. Haven't shot any good video with it yet though.

travisjb 05-17-2009 01:47 AM

Anyone try putting speedbleeder valves on yet ? Automobile Applications

Guessing we need this one SB1010

ChrisSlicks 05-17-2009 09:06 AM

Seems like a good idea, although if you buy 8 of the stainless pieces you're half way to buying a power bleeder.

travisjb 05-19-2009 11:21 PM

Updates... my car is with Redline Motorsports right now... MANY projects going on... highlights

1- the first set of upper control arms from SPC did not fit... SPC sent another set and THEY FIT PERFECT!!! I believe the second set are the same part from the G35, but LET ME VERIFY before you do anything rash! will update here later UPDATE... SPC CONTROL ARMS FROM G37 SEDAN FIT OUR CAR, BUT THE G37 COUPE PART DOES NOT FIT

2- the coilovers are installed and look great... with multi-link in the rear, it is really not possible to adjust ride height lower than what is natural for the spring, but you can increase height somewhat by adjusting the collar on the rear dampers... the fronts are obviously freely adjustable for ride height... this issue will be the same regardless of coilover... ultimately though, we think it won't matter, as these coilovers/springs in the rear are set where they need to be - if a bit on the low side... we bumped it up just a hair... will get pics later

With front/rear SPC parts and coilovers, I'm now free to make most of the adjustments I need... To take it one step further, I may look into the SPC rear toe bolts that DDM is selling http://www.the370z.com/members-370z-...t-370z-11.html

3- Redline is preparing a dual core oil cooler, parallel flow setup for me... the advantage of this setup I understand is that it allows a higher flow rate than running through one, then another, then back... instead it will run simultaneously through both cores and return oil more quickly... we are also installing a 52mm Defi pressure gauge defi red racer pressure DF06602 - Google Product Search we'll see if this works! seems like it will look perfect in place of the clock !

4- Big news !!! DDM shipped me JWT clutch and JWT flywheel... they were installed today and fit PERFECT... the car was on the lift as of 5pm when i stopped by the shop, so there has not yet been any test drive or whatever, but everything fits and that's a good start !

5- Along with the clutch and flywheel, i had them install a different clutch cable and pilot bearing c/o IIP... should allow me to position the clutch pedal in a better position for my personal preference and the bearing is said to be an upgrade and perhaps eliminates the 'clanking' noise when you press the clutch in... we'll see... will be hard to attribute the changes considering all the stuff we're swapping

6- Surprise ! I'm also having a Carbonetic 1.5 LSD installed this week... Mike sold me on the idea, and Sharif at Forged Performance sold me the diff... Thanks to both ! We are waiting on a few extra parts that are needed for the install, but I'm hoping it is in by tomorrow or THUR

7- various other bits going in like underdrive pulley and GTSpec bracing

I've got my track mate and chase cam all ready to drop in whenever I get the car back... tested it on my 15 month old's plastic car... pushed him around the neighborhood, with horrified neighbors wondering why we were going so fast and why he had electronics and a big *** battery strapped to his toddler-mobile ! :)

Here's the updated project list

Youll have to let me know next time you go to PIR. I want to see your car in action

travisjb 05-20-2009 12:49 AM

will do! PIR is usually with nasa, and they won't be back at pir till sep... have some runs at firebird and maybe alberquerque, vegas and cali this summer

RCZ 05-20-2009 11:47 AM

Cant wait to hear the results of the clutch install :)

Please do find out which front control arms fit.

+1

Might have to put off my LSD install for a bit then if we need extra parts :(.

imag 05-20-2009 11:40 PM

Wow. Nice set of parts. I'm anxious to hear what the clutch/flywheel upgrades do.

A real dif should be nice...

leepeen 05-20-2009 11:48 PM

I think i know who you are! Do you work at Jonker Nissan?

travisjb 05-21-2009 12:00 AM

umm, nope... don't even know where that is

wstar 05-21-2009 12:05 AM

Uhm, leepeen and Jonker Nissan are in Canada. Travis is in AZ :)

Correct SPC front control arms that will fit the 370Z are the same used for the following model: 08 to 09 G37 sedan.

So which ones did they send the first time that didn't work?

Good question... I thought the first set was from the 08-09 g37 too...

First set was for the G37 coupe. The 370Z and G37 coupe have the same upper control arms (same part number), SPC figured that the G37 coupe kit would fit which it did mechanically, but the 370Z strut body is lower than the G37 coupe hence the clearance issues. The G37 sedan control arms are shorter.

The G37 sedan control arms fit perfectly on the 370Z, but we have not yet performed a full set up and measure to assure that they can be used on the 370Z, I'll keep you guys posted.

travisjb 05-21-2009 02:39 PM

Ok, thanks for the update Robert!

RCZ 05-21-2009 08:43 PM

Please do it soon :)

Maybe Travis can tell us how well it fits...

Well, we now have confirmation that the part fits (g37 sedan part)... re how well it fits, as Robert said, won't know until we work on setup... could be as soon as tomorrow, but may roll into next week

RCZ 05-21-2009 08:58 PM

OK sir.

travisjb 05-21-2009 10:02 PM

Redline talked me out of the defi gauge and talked me into a spa gauge that is dual water temp / oil pressure... 52mm so should fit... black face, amber backlight, so should match rest of them

I'm thinking about also installing one of these

Ecliptech Shift Light Installation | Gorman Motorsports

... if anyone has strong opinions on shift lights, I'm all ears ! Also, where to mount !??

ssqpolo 05-21-2009 10:27 PM

i mean, its a cool light, but y do u need it? also, isnt there already a shift light in the tach?

RCZ 05-21-2009 10:59 PM

Our cars don't rev fast enough for those hehe. Well maybe yours does now :)

travisjb 05-21-2009 11:31 PM

maybe i'm going overboard huh ? :) less of a powerband drop off in this car, so for that reason too may not be needed

Still, I don't always get my timing right...

Will give it some more seat time, and if I don't get my timing sorted out by fall, will add one of these
