Newest install: Rogue Engineering Short Shifter with BLOX 490 Limited shift knob in Electric Blue

difference in shifter height and throw when lined up by the pivot point:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2..._03/IMG051.jpg

Rogue Eng shifter require you to install the factory plastic pivot shift cup and lower bushing. Both removed with the help of a vise, hammer and screw driver.

greased and installed

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2..._03/IMG058.jpg

and finally with the knob

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2..._03/IMG067.jpg

Haven't driven it yet, but the throw doesn't seem extremely shorter. The 'sloppy' feel is gone and throws feel precise and click into place. With the weight of the knob, the throw is still easy. The height is much better than the stock shifter+the blox knob; matches up with the center arm rest well.

Hard to see in the pics, but I also did the DIY stitch coloring with a medium blue. Results were great, very subtle change, and hard to tell in direct light/flash. In the daylight it looks awesome.

Got a few Motordyne parts pending :icon14:

Birdman, Nynhex - thanks for the kind words!

Strange how in my original post, I said the plans were mild. I never expected this much success, thanks all.

Ryan - this is an NA thread sir :D I'm so jealous of the single turbo setup, you know where you stand in my book

Ive been debating swapping out my ERZ cats for the ART pipes, very interested in hearing how it sounds.

m4a1mustang 05-11-2011 08:12 AM

Nice. I bet it's going to sound sweet. :D

Boost_lee 05-11-2011 11:12 PM

I have vids of the current setup. I'll be sure to get a flyby vid for the complete setup also.

Boost_lee 05-16-2011 02:19 AM

ART pipes were the first to be installed. The install took about 2 hours on a lift - 1 demon bolt snapped, the other came out fine. Another cat bolt seized on the opposite end and had to be cut off, I'm just glad those bolts are out and over with. We tried to hammer out the broken stud from the stock cat, and it bent the entire flange...what a POS.

I do need to order another gasket set as I do have an exhaust leak.

(sorry for the crappy pics)

Thoughts:
Quality/Fitment - I had high expectations for the price and they were all met. Perfect fit, awesome quality even as it was a used product.

Sound @ idle
Warm start up and warm idle is hardly any louder, if not, the same as before.
Cold start is louder. Sound more full and deep. Fumes are there since these are test pipes, but it is not unbearable. I like it :) I did the ECU reset, so it may take time to adjust.

Sound while driving - love it. FI CBE w/ 18" resonators left me wanting a little more. Its a great sound, just tame. With the ART pipes, this sound perfect to me. Throaty, aggressive, but still smooth and not crazy loud.

Hiss - the VQ hiss is present around 1800-2200, mostly on decel. I can hear my exhaust leak though, so I'll revisit this subject after the gasket is replaced. I cant tell if there is rasp, but I'll get a flyby video, similar to my other once for comparison.

Feel - Gain in low end power for sure. Of course I'm throttle happy right now, but the low end feels great. After a few pulls through the gears, I definitely feel a gain in power all over the rev range. Wish I had a dyno to verify, but for now as long as my butt-dyno and wallet agree, I'm happy.

Vid's in a week or two. Motordyne M370 to follow after that.

370Z JT 05-16-2011 02:25 AM

Nice man. Loving my ART pipes too.

christian370z 05-16-2011 04:48 AM

So jealous of the Art pipes, you should see a very nice bump in torque between the Art pipes and the M370. I love the idea of the M370 but am put off by the inconsistent gains/losses, it'll be interesting to see what your results are with tuning!

Viera 05-16-2011 10:22 AM

Your car is coming along VERY nicely, sir. Mont. Blue FTW! Wish I had more patience to wait for the ART pipes, but went with the FI RTP's instead. Either way, I'm happy with the route I went. :)

Boost_lee 05-16-2011 11:23 PM

Thanks for the kind words. After these mod's, I'm doing an oil cooler and calling it quits for motor stuff.

The gains feel great, I want to see how the manifold feels too. I got such a great deal on the M370 and AP, I couldn't resist.

Rone 05-17-2011 06:05 PM

Very nice. How in the hell do you get away with 20% tint when inspection time comes around?

definitionxmk 05-17-2011 08:32 PM

^money =)

Great photos with the ART pipes! I want em now!

Roll down the front windows and tell the inspector some really good fart jokes. Works for me every time.

Boost_lee 05-17-2011 11:17 PM

^ lol.

I dont know to be honest, I haven't had to reinspect the car as I've owned it for less than a year still :D

TongMan 05-18-2011 09:36 AM

do you still have the broadway rear view mirror?

Boost_lee 05-18-2011 04:35 PM

Never had one in this car. I do in my accord

I am looking forward to see the results!

TongMan 05-18-2011 06:33 PM

How did you like the broadway mirror? Are you not recommending it for the 370z? Will it even benefit our cars since we don't even have rear quarter windows?

Boost_lee 05-18-2011 06:37 PM

Love it in the 4 door... I don't think it will have any use in the z.

Boost_lee 05-27-2011 04:53 AM

M370 manifold has been installed.

How is the motordyne intake manifold? I'm thinking of getting one and just keep my HPS tubes and drop-ins. Worth the cash?

How are you liking those? I was considering his kit, but I was little worried about his caution about holding the hood to let it raise slowly. Does it really try to fly away too hard? Someday I'm bound to forget, or a friend helping work on the car is.
