not overwhelming at all

silviakid02 03-19-2012 11:58 PM

Hey bro love your car and as others have said your Z is an inspiration for my MB as well. I noticed you said that when you had the 9.5 +20 up front with the 5mm spacer, effectively making it a +15, you had a bit of rubbing. I was a kinda skeptical but I just pulled the trigger on a 19x9.5 +15. I'm also planning on running the stock rubber but I'm dropped on s-tech springs which sit a bit higher than your swifts, so I'm hoping I'll be ok even though I might get less negative camber than you. Anyway, when you said you rubbed the liner a bit was that only during hard cornering or did it rub heavy regularly?

Boost_lee 03-20-2012 12:11 AM

thanks

Its just the plastic liner on big bumps/dips in the road. The upper tab might require some bending, but it will be fine.

silviakid02 03-20-2012 01:19 AM

Awesome thanks bro.

[QUOTE=Boost_lee;1622682]Dyno video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SS0od6XlWyc

I lost a few HP after changing the exhaust, but I don't know how much is contributed by the changes in weather.

E370 (blue pull) others were after a reflash
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...325_131459.jpg
This dyno sheet does not have the temp readings, but when searching for weather conditions in that area on 3/25/12 it was about 72 degrees, 30.07in-Hg, and 76% humidity.

I only got in 1 pull with the Motordyne exhaust and no other changes; I was in a rush for time. The temperatures were a bit hotter on the E370 pull, but I provided Tony with the dyno files so he can compare them or do delta changes. After the pull I put another map on the car with the accessport and picked up a little bit of power. I still love the sound of this thing.

Boost_lee 04-03-2012 01:24 AM

Here's a driving video of the Motordyne exhaust. Consists of a flyby followed by a spirited drive-by.
Ends with a few revs. (2K, 3K, 4K, 5.5K, redline)
Enjoy :driving:

One other update; picked up some used 285's for the rear. Hankook V12's will be replacing the stock rear RE05A's with 23000 miles.
Once these and the fronts wear out together I'll probably look towards the RE11

how the hell do you guys go so far on the stock rears? I got 11k miles and mine were DONE. no burnouts, no launches, just hard cornering I guess

Boost_lee 04-03-2012 12:15 PM

:D beats me

tjlazer 04-03-2012 12:17 PM

I'm at 25K on the stock Nismo yokohamas. But they are almost done and I will need new tires this summer.

simota1 04-03-2012 01:32 PM

god dang man!!!! my tires in front are bridgestones... and the guy said he had 11k and they look like they are gonna explode from how bald they are hahahahah i really needa change them soon....

ZForce 04-04-2012 12:45 AM

Nice sounding exhaust. On my wish list. RE-11 are great mine started going 12k sticky as fly paperbut do not expect to get anywhere near 23k.

Boost_lee 04-05-2012 01:51 AM

that helps. We'll see how the hankooks feel first.

dAvenue 04-16-2012 11:02 PM

It was a pleasure seeing your car this weekend at Nismo Fiesta. Congrats on winning best in class! The blue was supreme.

How are you liking those new tires?

MacLean 04-16-2012 11:28 PM

The exhaust sounds really nice. I definitely like the sound.

I don't know if it was the tires or the suspension, but my car felt really loose out back this weekend. I probably need to soften up the rear. I put on new coils along with the tires, so its hard to pinpoint.

Rear coils are all the way set to the top (lowest) I kind want it lower in the rear. The front scrapes more often now, we'll see if I can live with it.

Boost_lee 04-17-2012 01:53 AM

Its worth it :) As long as I can still use my Z like it should be, then I'm good

Looking great Boost:tup: I have also been a long time fan of your personal plate!!!

Flushnismo 04-17-2012 07:49 AM

That's weird that the back doesn't go any lower.. are you sure it's set up right?

Boost_lee 04-17-2012 11:46 AM

I'm pretty sure, unless I need to bring the shock up some more. But the spring does have some preload on it already. Maybe it's the custom swift springs on these BC ER's?

sfearl1 04-17-2012 12:45 PM

man, it looks amazing now! what kind of lugs do you have installed? do you know if they fit the stock rays?

Flushnismo 04-17-2012 01:20 PM

Idk man.. I could tuck rim in the back if I wanted to. I'm also on BC BR.

VDC_OFF 04-17-2012 05:17 PM

Your car looks amazing!! You should have bought that kids backpack from the pic and put it on the drivers seat headrest :P

Thanks! Drop engineering lugs, will not fit the rays though.

I'm on the ER, but they have custom 200mm swift springs. I'm wondering if this affects the drop length...

thanks,i know, I didn't even see that kid at the show. I would have asked lol

delusional 04-17-2012 09:02 PM

damn seeing your car each time makes me hate myself for rushing in and getting a pg instead of waiting for an mb :shakes head::shakes head:

sfearl1 04-17-2012 09:14 PM

Bummer about the lugs. I wish there were an option for the stock rays :\

How do you like your stillen lip compared to the evo-r? It looks like it dips in the middle... Is that just a weird camera angle or does it flatten out there?

Jamaica 04-17-2012 09:17 PM

If you hit it enough times it starts to warp. I used a heat gun and a jack to straighten mine out again. Of course I scrape mine daily.. :icon18: lol

Boost_lee 04-17-2012 09:35 PM

I think mine was due to the heat and wind. It has warped in the middle, but I'm not complaining too much for the price.

As for the exhaust, no complaints from me. Sound was my primary factor in choosing an exhaust and i am very pleased with this setup

98intrigue 04-17-2012 10:18 PM

Updates:

I lowered the rear of the car as much as I could on these BC ER's with swift springs. I had to remove one of the collars and its all the way to its highest point. Tire is flush, not tucking. I kind of wish I had more ride height to play with, but I guess these swift springs are just longer than the normal BR's. I also purchased the BC adjustment knob extenders, but I still need to cut my rear interior panels for that. I may lower the front just a tad, but I'm not sure yet since I scrape alot as it is. I'll try stiffening the front a tad and see where that goes.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...512_175023.jpg

Stillen G3 is now installed on the car too, replacing the Injen intake. The intakes were used and were already sandblasted to remove the polished finished. I decided to wrap them in DEI reflect-a-gold tape. I'm sure the gains/temp changes on this are slim, but I like the look and it sure won't hurt anything. I used 30ft and ran out on the ends, but the front of the intake is farthest from the heat sources anyways.

The COBB was sold to a forum member so next up is an UpRev tune from a local shop. After that, the car will probably have zero changes until I can go forced induction. The only mod I would consider is a new set of wheels, I get bored fast :icon14:

LukasC 05-13-2012 01:17 AM

Nice looks good. I thought u sold ur swifts to chris. U buy another set?

Boost_lee 05-13-2012 03:01 AM

These are BC coilovers, but they are revalved and have swift springs, not the swift spec r lowering springs
