Just ordered an Unorthodox Racing stock diameter crank pulley! According to them, this will shed 7 lbs. of rotating mass off of the front of the car

Yeah it does also have effect but if its also heavier than the UR one then it will be a wash. Even if they weigh the same, I would guess that it will make 1whp difference max, or less. You will gain more from less weight than less parasitic drag. Like I said, we'll see once I put the UR pulley on my car. I personally prefer to use a stock diameter pulley to maintain factory accessory outputs from the alternator, power steering, etc.

Stillen quotes the stock pulley at 4.72 lbs. My bathroom scale, while not very accurate or repeatable unfortunately, agrees that my stock pulley is somewhere in the vicinty of 4.5-5-ish lbs. So there's no way it's shaving off 7lbs :)

It will be interesting to get the Unorthodox one weighed though so we can compare. Stillen's showing 1.32 lbs for their standard-sized one and 0.99 lbs for their underdriven model, but I don't know if anyone's tried to accurately verify those numbers.

Well then that makes me further doubt their hp claims lol. Their weight calculations were on a G37, but I am assuming that they would be the same pulley as the 370Z.

Actually I just remembered that I have a more accurate small scale in the kitchen that I use for cooking ingredients. My stock pulley came out to 4.75 lbs there, with an accuracy of roughly +/- 0.05, so pretty much right in line with Stillen's reported number for it.

A little OT, but I finished my pit bike side project today. :) Took my old BMX bike from my youth and powdercoated it to match the car so now I have something for my fat *** to ride around the pits at the races instead of walking lol...

lol thanks. Its a DK General Lee frame that I built from the frame up. The frame and all of the parts are from 2001-2002 so I am sure the whole thing is outdated now, but it was a cool park/street bike back then!
